2014 NFL Uniform Thread
 

First change known for 2014, the TB Bucs are getting a new logo and helmet.

Shame, because they have one of the best helmets in the league in my opinion and it can only go downhill from there.

Announcement by team expected Thursday.

Yeah, that "chrome grill" part has me a little worried. And I'm not sure why they're making changes either. Those Bucs helmets, the whole uniforms, actually, are pretty sweet. The Vikings and Jaguars improved their helmets last year though, so there's hope.

Interesting to see what the new logo looks like.

If they just take the skull/swords off the flag and use that by itself, that works.

Here are the rejected helmets from the last re-design. The bottom-left would be my choice for a new logo. I also hope they work orange as a prominent color back into the uniform but now I'm fearing this:

Sexy...but how well would that go with the uniforms? I thought they were making only subtle changes to the uniforms. It's going to take a drastic change to match those up.

Who knows...Sapp said a "chrome grille" and that scares me. :D

I'm expecting a white helmet because of that new throwback rule that says you can't have a separate helmet. They can still change decals and facemasks.

Nike also had trouble matching and producing a few colors because they use different fabrics than Reebok. TB's pewter was one along with the Saints' gold (why they wear panty hose-looking pants now). Green was another issue and that's why the Packers kept their old model (no toilet seat collars) and why the Jets have jerseys with 50 shades of green.

Holy crap that's huge. It resembles Warren Sapp...too big. At least they didn't go all Jagaurs-ugly on us.

Glad they kept the pewter though, there are too many white helmets already.

Seems to change colors in light too. Goes from pewter to platinum, almost chrome.

They should look pretty sharp on the field. I was worried they'd ruin one of the best looks in the NFL but they managed not to screw up.

What does that have to do with anything? Modern doesn't mean better.


Quite a few teams should never change their classic looks like the Bears, Chiefs, Packers, Colts, Raiders and even Redskins. The 49ers figured it out and went back to a classic look without the unnecessary black and extra details that just aren't needed. I hope the Browns do not get screwed up too badly in their 2015 revamp.

Last time the Bucs made a change they won the SB shortly after, same with Denver and Seattle. Maybe a change isn't so bad?

If that's the case then we should be changing uniform every few years. I think we need a major uniform change so tired of the burgundy and gold look. New uniform new attitude for the players.

I like that they added more orange back into the uniform...but puke, these are hideous.

Those numbers remind me of an alarm clock. Who picked those? Fire them.

Hmm, yeah. Interesting to say the least.

That said I kinda like that Nike is trying some fresh ideas. I hated Seattle's new ones at first but kinda like them now.

Skip the black, but I do like it. I like the warpaint effect, and the helmet, though not the number on one side. Just go with the feather.
