Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Best I can do for now
https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/435884151800360960 The #Redskins and CB DeAngello Hall have agreed to a 4-year deal, per source (as @NBCdianna said). Said to be worth nearly $5M per year |
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
5 million a year more than likely means no Alterraun Verner. Oh well, probably for the better.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Seems like a fair deal for both sides. We resign our best DB. Good job Redskins.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Last year he was easily our best defensive back. He deserves the deal. I'm glad that we held on to him. Now, for the rest of the secondary...

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Ill wait to read the fine print on this one...Welcome back D Hall

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Glad we kept DH. Wonder how much is guaranteed.

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
$5 mil a year for a mid level #1 CB isn't bad. Financially a smart move, football wise, we will still have to wait and see. I think this indicates that Haslett is putting more of a stamp on the defense and with Hall and Amerson we will move to more press man coverage than zone.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Good move.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
I'm fine with this.
If Amerson is found to be a capable starter then we are in good shape on the corners. |
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
I suppose the skins are setting the market for cbs this year with this deal. I was hoping we could nab Talib as well but this seems like it will limit us to signing another big time CB. Although in a passing league maybe it won't.
This team needs to add new guys though. Sign Rak and Riley and get to work on the rest else where. I will be interested to see if RJ comes back after being non-ezxsistent last year. |

I don't think it necessarily means that. We obviously have to address CB, and we certainly can write a 3-4 year deal that would bring a top corner in. |

You could be right. It's just that Hall got a little more money than I was expecting; and at 4 million a year, you don't want him sitting around. What I was hoping was for us to sign a top-tier FA CB to start, with Amerson as the #2. In my plan, Hall was going to back up both positions. |

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Good move Skins... Re-sign a solid number one corner for 4-5 million a year that already knows the defense.... Talib and Verner would have commanded a couple million more a year... Granted they have more upside, but other than Sackpo, I don't think we should commit 7 to 9 million a year for one player... We have too many holes to fill...

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
I like the move. I would rather the team spend the money to keep Rak and/or bringing in a solid Free Safety from free agency instead of getting into a bidding war for Talib or some big time CB FA. I like what I saw in Amerson and I think he has potential to be a #1.

Agree , If we can sign a FS that can , cover , tackle and be the " leader " , our secondary should be fine . Hopefully some of the young guys step up this year . |
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Yessssssss! Now if we add another db.. its gonna get better here..

Yea talib will hit the IR like he does every season. "Ice up son, ice up" - steve smith. We need the Byrdman up top. |
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
I think we're probably looking at starting Hall and Amerson, and picking up someone to compete for the nickel spot. Talib is likely looking for big $$.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Hall definitely redeemed himself this past year. Played probably the best he ever has as a professional - and the fact that he's a former Hokie alumni makes me happy as well! :)
It's funny though, just about a year or two ago, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wanted Hall back on the team. |

Yeah I would def look at bringing in someone to compete for the nickel spot, I personally like Sam Shields. He was rated high as a slot CB 2 years ago and graduated to the outside this past year and played well. Really like the versatility of Sheilds and he should be a "tier" 2 FA at corner. Him and Amerson could compete for both positions, outside and slot. |

This indicates the deal is $4.25M per season. I'm dying to see the guaranteed portion so we can understand the cap hit. |

I know he's a controversial guy amongst the fans, personally my opinion of him has been up and down, but no doubt the last 2 seasons he's earned his spot here. |

4 years, $17 million. Reportedly no money is guaranteed beyond 2014. Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
1.pretty solid move, just hoping we can add another solid cornerback than that would give us three solid corners, hope that,s the plan 2.does anybody think we might D.hall to a safety pos.?
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Hall has won me over. Could not stand him at first, but the last two years w/ a suspect pass rush, he's been balling. Plus he might have the best hands on the team. My only concern is can he keep up his level of play the last two years? Hopefully he can. But we had no choice, we had to resign him.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
I like re-signing him, but I'm also worried about D-hall going back to being a shitty CB once he's got paid. His best year of his career was last year. The one where he was being paid peanuts. In fact, the past 1-1/2 years are the best of his career in terms of playing the CB position like it should.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for now and saying I believe he's matured as a person and a player. I don't think he'll slack off now, he's already made a ton of $$ over his career. |

This would seriously piss me off if we did this. Why the f*ck would we risk a transition like this for a position that has struggled immensely for years. Thats a dumb effing plan imo. Your team kinda has to have a solid secondary to begin with in order to pull off that move. At least have a proven player at the other other Safety position in order to mitigate the obvious mistakes to come. We have neither at this point. Expect the secondary to further struggle if this occurs and safety doesnt play to Hall strengths. |

I've stuck by the guy thru his ups and downs.. especially over the past couple years cuz we frankly have had no other choice at CB.. dude can play, and shut down #1's usually but he can be a risk taker and struggle with consistency.. he's still a #1 CB in this league but sadly only looks as great as pour defense in the end. |

I share this concern. It does seem like the financial commitment is not too great, which makes it tolerable. But having Hall as one of our starting CBs doesn't make me think "all star secondary". But if it leaves room for an impact signing at safety, then I'm on board. The guaranteed $ is the key part in determining how much room this takes up. |

That's not bad at all from a cap perspective. That's pretty easily managed past 2014. |

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
IMO a very team friendly deal, he's made enough money and just wants to play for his hometown team. DH I'm buying your JERSEY.
|
Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
seems to be a team friendly deal re the guaranteed money so that makes me happy.
i used to hate hall bc of the high completion percentage against him and his taking late/cheap shots every now and then but ..... i love his commitment to the team and fans. really do. i also love the fact he started sticking in nose in hard direct hits and stopped doing the deion sander's ohhhh-layyyy move. i would like hall to be our no 2, amerson no 3 and we sign a no 1 corner but ... having 2 no 2 ability corners in hall and amerson on the cheap isnt such a bad situation. i used to be a hall hater but over the past few years the man has really grown on me in his maturity and play.. i like him. |

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
i'm liking the continuity aspect of our defense so far this off-season, coaches included.. even tho haslett really makes me scratch my head sometimes.. players seem to have his back so.. this move points to more team friendly and 'positive direction' moves going forward IMO.
