Not sure where to post this:

Interesting take on the CBA. From the article:
Remember, when you read the usual criticisms: It's not the players who have been grumbling for the past two years about the CBA; it's the agents. They miss the days when early first-round picks could move the market at premium positions, and while the salary cap stayed flat in the first couple of years of the deal, they wondered when the promised benefit would be realized on the veterans' end.

That time has come. Once the clock hits 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, all the complaints you've been hearing about the lousy deal the players made in 2011 are going to start sounding awfully silly. The end result is that everybody -- owners and players alike -- is making out on this new CBA. This spring, it's going to be the players' turn to look like the winners.
Hard to tell. He's almost 32 and had a down year but he really could fit into anyone's defense as Dallas has experimented with every scheme known to man trying to find one that works.

I'd take him here if he doesn't break the bank. He's tortured us enough and it would be nice to see him on our side for once.

4 year/24M; 10M guaranteed in the first year; 14M in total guarantees.

Karlos Dansby - Cleveland Browns - 2014 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Paying a serious premium to replace/upgrade DJax with a 32 year old LB - a premier player, but still a 32 year old player. Looks to me like, essentially, a two year deal.

Cincy just cut their center Kyle Cook. He's gotta be DC bound

Monkeydad 03-11-2014 03:26 PM

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

He'd be a decent signing but not a huge upgrade over Montgomery or Lichtensteiger at C.

The Ravens and Bucs are targeting Alex Mack and we're not spending that much for a Center anyway.

Browns gave him the tranny tag but they can match any offer from any team.

NFLN reports that DeMarcus Ware has been cut.

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

Expected. He gave them a 4PM ultimatum and they simply can't find the money.

From Rotoworld:

It's the end of an era that saw Ware make seven Pro Bowl teams and be named an All-Pro four times. The Cowboys really had no other choice. Ware was unwilling to take a pay cut, and Dallas had less than $1 million in cap space. Ware, 32 in July, battled injuries in 2013 but still should attract plenty of suitors on the open market. The move clears a shade over $7.4 million in cap space, while the Cowboys will eat over $8.5 million in "dead money." Ware has 117 career sacks

Good news is that the Eagles said they're out of the running for TJ Ward...too expensive for them.

In other news, Run DMC expected to take 1-year deal to stay in Oakland.

So, where will Vick land?

Minnesota?

Oakland?

Jacksonville?

San Francisco as a backup?

Stay in Philly because no one wants him?

Somebody will want him. There's gotta be a bottom 5 team in the NFL with no qb of the future who would take him on a 1-2 year rental.

Other than the fact that he played for the Cowboys, I've always liked DeMarcus Ware. He's as close to classy as you can be in this league. I hope he finds a team that he can win a ring with.

Musical chairs at OT:

per Shefter -

KC OT Brandon Albert to Miami: 5 years, 46M, 25 guaranteed;
Rams OT Saffold to Oakland: 5 years; 42.5M, 21 GTD
Oak OT Veldheer to Cardinals: 5 years; 35M (doesn't say how much guaranteed).

So with the Whitner signing, that means Mitchell should command around 5.5-6.5 per year. About what we expected?

edit * hopefully Mitchell is less than 5.5, considering Bethea just signed for a hair under 6.5 per year.

Pretty hopping UFA market at the opening bell this year. The tampering window served its purpose apparently.

Mechanix544 03-11-2014 04:49 PM

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

a little less than what I thought he would get, maybe mitchell will come at a discount? I don't think he is as good as Bethea, not as seasoned at least, but he is a tad younger........

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

BTW...this moving the start to 4 and then giving teams a few days to legally tamper has is amazing. The last hour has been crazy.

Jacksonville traded QB Blaine Gabbert to SF for a 6th round pick, per sources.

We got Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins(i think) Jacksonville got a 6th round pick. Gotta give Shanny/Allen a win on that one
