Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Didn't people think we were going to release him?
Details of the deal haven't been released yet. Report: E.J. Biggers Re-Signs with Redskins - Hogs Haven |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Not too surprising, I guess. They hinted that he would be resigned.
He's versatile and fast, so on a cheap 1 year deal, I like it. |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Can't release him if he wasn't under contract to begin with.
Either way, he's fine for what he is. I don't love or hate the move. |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Gak......
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
I am not sure where he played most of last season, if he begins the off-season as a free safety he might be decent.
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
turdble, just turdble
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
I don't like this move at all, primarily because the guy can't tackle. I'm tired of watching him get run over. Surely, there must be some FA DB who can do what he does and also tackle well.
The Skins get a mid-term grade of D from me on their efforts to sign FA DB's. Tracy Porter might help a little. Other than that signing, we haven't improved the secondary at all. |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
With a better pass rush our DB's might look a lot better IMO.
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
My bad welcome back B.I.G. Biggers.
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Probably a minimum salary deal, and probably not a lock to make the roster. Doesn't move the needle one way or another, there's no reason to love it or hate it.
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
First Haslett now this, next it will be Josh Wilson.
|
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Why are people acting like this precludes the Redskins from making other moves to upgrade the secondary?
I understand they haven't much yet, but cap space still exists and the draft is yet to come. |

I understand they haven't much yet, but cap space still exists and the draft is yet to come.
People want all stars at every spot. Biggers is your typical 4th corner IMO. |
Why are people acting like this precludes the Redskins from making other moves to upgrade the secondary?
I understand they haven't much yet, but cap space still exists and the draft is yet to come.
I think everyone wanted one named guy for either the safety or DB spot. The fact that neither has seen much change certainly isn't going to receive standing ovations. And the glass half empty folks just will see it as more of the same (not a good thing). |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
As a 4th or 5th corner Biggers is fine.
|

Yeah I get that, and I'm right there with the people who are disappointed in the moves at safety. But people have to understand that this move takes up zero cap space and in no way prevents them from doing something else. |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
Pretty slim pickings left in the CB/DB FA pool. If anyone has thoughts on the remaining folks, please share. I wonder whether this becomes a draft priority or whether the team views this as something that cannot be fixed in 1 year and that we're focusing on other needs this year.
Why are people acting like this precludes the Redskins from making other moves to upgrade the secondary?
I understand they haven't much yet, but cap space still exists and the draft is yet to come.
For one thing, Bruce Allen made it clear that upgrading the secondary was a priority in FA. Then he accomplished next to nothing in that regard. We watched as numerous talented safeties and CB's signed with other teams. Now, he's bringing back some of the same cast of characters who were so bad as a group last season. That is hardly encouraging. As for the draft, just how many positions are we going to be able to address in the draft? Only one or two players we draft will be able to make much of a contribution in their rookie year. We drafted two safeties last year, so I'd rather not draft another safety this year. More specific to Biggers, I don't like him because he is a human speed bump. BTW, I'm not of a negative mindset about what the Skins are trying to do. But I do think that, up to this point, Bruce Allen has failed to get us the veteran leader we need at safety. Maybe we'll sign Ryan Clark as a stopgap at FS. That would help. I'm also hopeful that we'll get some help from Thomas, Crawford, and Minnefield this season. |

We weren't just one or two players away, we need quantity and depth. The prices those safeties got were not worth the holes we would have been forced to endure at other positions. |

I wish we could get rogers and clark on 1-2 year deals. Between them and the youth drafted last year and some mid round picks this year I think it would do a lot to make the backend defense stable.

Me too. But I've made my peace with the idea that at least one more year's patience likely is required. The good news is that it seems we can better mask the weak back end with a pass rush. |

The only one that intrigues me (slightly) is Major Wright. He's only 25 and has mostly been solid, according to Rotoworld, at least. |

Horrible tackler. Might not make final roster.

I did when FA started, but not now. Did you and Bruce think that a top-notch starting safety was going to be cheap? I assumed that's where we'd be spending the big dollars. What I wrote still stands: Bruce has already failed to fix the secondary in FA because he's not going to fix it with the FA's who are left. Now, you're just letting him off the hook. |

I agree with this except the choice of Clark. Rogers is a proven NFL CB and would be a difference maker in the W-L record. But Clark's past health issues combined with his age makes me want to take a pass on him. I can not help but feel like Hasslett does not understand the importance of a team leader at FS. It seems like he goes into a season with ?'s and inexperienced youth at that position. Why? I have a feeling we might acquire a veteran Safety if a good one becomes available during preseason cuts. Every year a couple good players become available when teams make the tough cuts. In the past we did not have the cap space to pounce on one. Now we have the flexibility to do it. We better. Let's see what happens. |

So Hall and Merriweather as safties, and Amerson and player TBD at the corner. Even though Merriweather was at FS most of last year, for hiscareer he's more of a SS, so pairing him with Hall could work. But that puts a lot more faith in the youngsters in the CB position that most would be comfortable with. |

I think we'll be fine in the secondary. |
Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
I think adding Crawford and Thomas are going to be the additions we need to the back end. Crawford really made strides last year hopefully he can get well and get after it.

Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers
It would be awesome if Crawford and/or Minnifield keep Porter on the bench and Biggers off the roster.

E.J. Biggers is Haslett guy.....Haslett spoke highly of Biggers last year.......Rob Jackson still hasn't been re-signed......I think he will be back too.....
