Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Somebody's got to be #3.
|
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
I think Colt can push Cousins. Still a young guy, really nice #3 imo.
This would motivate me to put out feelers on Cousins around draft time to see if we could land a 2nd or multi picks like a 3rd and 5th. |

Cousins' main value is that he is young. This does not benefit us nearly as much as it would a team looking for a franchise QB. We should turn that benefit into a player who will see the field rather than hold a clipboard. And should RGIII get hurt, McCoy is as good (and as bad) of a substitute. McCoy also has considerable starting experience. |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
McCoy for career:
58.3 comp. % 21-20 TD-Int 74.9 QBR Cousins for career: 56.2 comp. % 8-10 TD-Int 68.6 QBR McCoy's numbers are better. |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Not a fan of the guy. I guess someone has to be the #3 so I'm not really complaining. I just don't think he's any good.
|
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
It's funny how physically Colt and RG3 are basically the same size, but Colt comes off as so much smaller. He plays smaller than his size.
He's got the inside track to be the #2 guy, they just need to find a suitable trade partner for KC |

Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Too bad Jordan Shipley tore up his knee so bad and retired from the NFL. We could've signed him and reunited the college duo. "78 yards on the pass play...from McCoy to Shipley!" Those two were great in college.

Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
I like this move, He's the real McCoy!
lol . . . just wanted to get the lame joke outa the way. |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Are you implying McCoy is a better NFL Qb?
Nope. I would say neither dramatically better nor worse. But those who think that we can't trade Cousins "in case RGIII gets hurt" should look again at Cousins' numbers. They're bad. |

I think picks. Will probably be a draft weekend decision |
I think picks. Will probably be a draft weekend decision
I could see the browns trading back from their #4 pick for an additional 2nd or 3rd round pick then offering it to us for Cousins, KC still has two years left on rookie contract. |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Weird move. I don't know much about McCoy or what the Skins' plans are with him. But after signing DJax, they could sign a wooly mammoth for all I care. I'd side eye a bit but I'd trust them.

Should have tried to get back Campbell as a back up if they're trading Cousins. Maybe even Weeden. This is a big play offense now with a QB that has questionable knees. Got to have a strong backup here. |

Lol, Redskins are signing virtually everyone fans wanted from past drafts.

The stats are misleading, if you enter a game late, and are down 14 you are more likely to force passes, then get interceptions. I think Cousins will develop into a good QB, and trading him would be a big mistake. What did P. Manning, or Brady do in their first 4 starts ?......Manning had 28 interceptions as a rookie, and Brady didn't start a game Give Cousins a dozen starts before you compare him to McCoy |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
If McCoy ends up starting we're in deep $hit so does it even matter, i say not.

I rather have colt and a 2nd round pick than a backup with "potential" that never plays. honestly, whether it's colt or cousins, if either one is starting for us, we're already boned. |

Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
I would be happy with a 2nd round pick for KC. Maybe with the Browns.

When we get a strong backup, let me know. The numbers which you dismissed tell the tale that Cousins isn't all that good. As for the arm, Gruden's offense is designed to compensate for QB's without a lot of arm strength. Ask Andy Dalton. |

There are teams that got to the Super Bowl with a good backup QBs.... I think the Redskins are one of them. the back up with "potential" had over 350 yards passing in a NFL game |

I just think it was a case of needing another arm for camp and otas. I think at this point it has no bearing on Cousins future. Things could always change, but McCoy is not really a guy I want playing in any meaningful games. |

Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Again a great move...not that McCoy is any great shakes but it gives us the flexibility to move KC if a solid deal arises. I'm not entirely convinced KC is any better anyways.

? Well the only problem with that argument, is that the backup has played, and likely will play again. Don't get me wrong, I hope Robert can stay healthy; but the odds are against him simply due to his style of play and competitiveness. Hopefully this year he is able to find a way to make it through the season healthy and on the field - having lots of weapons to give the ball to will help. |
Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
Everyone please keep in mind that all but one of Cousins starts were with a team that had given up on the season and their head coach. His stats mean nothing.
Whether you're a fan of Cousins or not, you cannot fairly judge him by stats. |

the back up with "potential" had over 350 yards passing in a NFL game
patrick ramsey had 400 yards in his first start. tell me how that worked out. I think some people put too much value on potential. I mean, He might be pretty good, but as long as he's riding the bench we'll never know. |

I have no issue keeping him, but I also don't have any issue taking a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him either. and honestly, the more he plays, the more likely his trade stock drops. |

Whether you're a fan of Cousins or not, you cannot fairly judge him by stats.
Stats provide a relatively objective measure and so cannot just be dismissed. But since stats are not your thing, let's go with the eyeball test: for us and going back to Michigan State, Cousins has a long-term habit of sometimes making very poor decisions which result in turnovers. Further, he also is not always accurate and has a long-term habit of errant passes being intercepted. Many people have stronger arms and many people are more accurate. And none of this has to do with a team giving up. I'm with That Guy. I'm fine if we keep him because he is a decent backup. But many people are decent backups, so the wiser course is through trade to turn him into a player who will see the field. |

Re: Redskins Sign Colt McCoy
I've always been a fan of Colt. I thought he got a raw deal in Cleveland., I would actually prefer that he was our #2 instead of Kirk. IMO, Kirk is getting traded.

As for the arm, Gruden's offense is designed to compensate for QB's without a lot of arm strength. Ask Andy Dalton.
I watched several Bengals games and they were throwing the ball down the field a lot. Besides, they just signed one of the best deep threats in the game. People love stats around here. I dismiss some of those numbers because the last game was in a monsoon. Against Dallas there were several drops. We don't win the division in 12 w/out Cousins. Like Griffin, he has things he needs to work on. Just not a fan of McCoy as a back up for this offense. There's a good chance the backup will play here since Griffin takes a lot of hits. I was hoping we bring in Vick or even Jason Campbell lol. |
