Redskins re-sign Rob Jackson

The Washington Redskins announced that they have re-signed outside linebacker Rob Jackson.

The seventh-year pro has spent all of his career with the Redskins, playing primarily as Brian Orakpo’s backup.

Excellent! Very serviceable depth player. I'm really getting excited about the season. Heck, I'm really excited over the draft.

wow! That's cool. Didn't see it happening.

Re: Redskins re-sign Rob Jackson

The Redskins have done a very good job of filling the roster with depth. The difference between this offseason and previous offseasons is stark. They're not handing anything to recent draft picks, they'll be made to earn their way.

Cap penalties hurt, but it's not like Shanahan couldn't have signed guys for vet min last season, guys like Mike McGlynn. Their cap hit is tiny thanks to the rule of 51.

great signing, i'm guessing no one else wanted to pay him.

Re: Redskins re-sign Rob Jackson

Excellent! I was certain it wasn't happening. The impression I was getting was that felt he would get better playing time elsewhere and some low-end starter money. Also, did not seem like he was a priority here at all (and, at this point, he clearly wasn't a "priority"). In fact, seemed like the FO just wasn't particularly interested in him at all.

Glad he is back though. I think he will be really, really solid depth and coming into games as a "middle reliever" kinda guy. Feeling good with the OLB's at this point.

Speaking of, is Tanard a lost cause? Has he been a lost cause? Haven't paid much attention to his situation.

Glad to have him back . Maybe Jenkins , 2013 4th rd pick will also contribute this year .

Terrific news...really glad they were able to keep him.

I was concerned about all the LB's heading into FA, but I think we came out of it in great shape.

Re: Redskins re-sign Rob Jackson

Good resigning, Rob gives us much needed deapth at the OLB position . Plus he already knows our defense scheme. Rob also can plays pass coverage better than RAK.

on rob jackson, i almost forgot we hadn't re-signed him yet, i am very glad we did!

I wonder why he didn't sign with Oakland. Surely they offered him more money we did, and a better chance at starting for sure. Maybe he likes what the FO is doing here and wants to be a part of it. :pimp:

What? How'd you break Tanard Jackson's leg?
pop warner football in maryland.

state championship game, they were ahead by 2 scores in the 3rd quarter, tanard was their qb. it was a pass, he was scrambling around in the backfield for a long time and i (from le) finally got close enough to pounce on him, his leg was in an awkward position when i took him down.

i got up happy about the sack, but then i saw him and i felt terrible. they brought an ambulance onto the field and play was stopped for almost awhile. he was easily their best player and we were able to come back and win the game.

Rob Jackson re-signs with the #Redskins. The 2008 draft class hasn't officially died just yet.
I never in my wildest dreams would have guessed that on draft day Rob Jackson would be the only one that would last this long. I was convinced when they drafted him that he was a virtual lock to get cut before the season. No real distinguishable physical upside (unlike sexier late round picks like Markus White, Tom Compton, Niles Paul, Terrance Austin, Marko Mitchell, and Chris Thompson) and lackluster production in college (6 sacks in two years). Then of course when he made the team along with the other 9 rookies from that class I figured it was just Vincenzo trying to save face.

Even crazier then the fact that Rob Jackson is the only remaining Skin from that draft is the fact that as of right now only Jackson and Rhinehart are the only players currently on a roster. I guess Fred Davis will get back in the league after his suspension runs its course either naturally or through appeals, provided of course he doesn't employ the Charles Rogers offseason training program, but have to say good for Rob Jackson for making this long.

Here's some interesting facts from the 2008 draft - Fred Davis (#48) was drafted one spot ahead of DeSean Jackson (#49) in the 2nd round. The Redskins had 3 2nd rounders in 2008- the first 2nd rounder was used to pick up Devin Thomas with the #34 pick overall that year. Tracy Porter, CB now with the Redskins, was also in the 2008 draft class (2nd rounder #40). Also, part of the Eagles 2008 draft class was Mike McGlynn (4th round #109) - who also is now a Redskin. Mike McGlynn also was claimed by and played with the Bengals in 2011 (starting in 4 games), which was also Jay Gruden's first year as Offensive Coordinator. 2011 coincidently also was the same season that Devin Thomas and the Giants won the Superbowl (2012).

So how's that for 6 or so degrees of seperation.

That's really depressing. What's worse is, aside from a few picks, we've been awful at evaluating prospects since 1993, probably later. Just awful.

I was surprised Rob Jackson didn't generate more interest in free agency.....it's good to have him re-signed...
