NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

The NFL Network is going to have something on Ramsey tonight at 7pm! It's going to be interesting to see what all they have to say about him this time. I know a few weeks ago, they were talking about how he needs to improve his reads! Anyways, hope you guys will watch! :httr:

I will now. Thanks for the info. I sometimes neglect the NFL Network because of their CONSTANT reruns of Jaguars training camp.

I've been getting more and more into it lately because of all the draft talk. Good to hear there's going to be something about the Redskins.

If you have SIRIUS satellite with the NFL Network station is that broadcast at the same time as the one on TV?

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

If I am not mistaken, I think they said Patrick Ramsey will be there to talk to them..but I'm not sure about that. Anyways, I had just gotten the NFL Network back in March and I have been watching it alot..but yeah...the training camp of the Jaguars is getting quite old! Not to mention the Playbooks. It seems like the past few times I have turned on NFL playbook, they have been rerunning the outlook on the NFC South. I don't think I have ever gotten a chance to see a playbook on the NFC East.

skinsguy 04-05-2005 05:26 PM

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

I wasn't sure about posting this thread about Ramsey, because I know now that the NFL Network has been rerunning stuff like crazy, so I wasn't sure if this was a rerun of a story that has already been reported or if this is something new. I figured since it's coming on around 7pm when most people would watch, that it would be new.

I figured I would catch it next time but I think its the only show they only played once. I thought with all their reruns I would get tired of seeing it.

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

Here's a summary of what Ramsey said on the NFL Network:

Says its been great for him to play in different offenses (Spurrier & Gibbs)...says he feels that gives him an advantage and now it's time for him to step up and perform. Added that they went from a pass oriented offense to a run oriented offense last year and this year he hopes the offense is more balanced.

Mentioned that there was a stat that stated that if the Redskins had scored one more touchdown and each game, they would have been 11 - 5 last season. Basically stated they were very close to being a winning team.

His relationship with Brunell is great. Considers Mark his best friend on the team.

Speaks highly of the acquitions of Patton and Moss. Feels their experience of being in the playoffs and SB(Patton) will help the offense out.

Spoke very highly of Joe Gibbs...basically says he[Gibbs] is everything and more than what people say about Joe Gibbs(those that actually say good things about the man.)

Says they are in the weight room right now and working on passing.

That's really about it. Anyone else who watched it might be able to add some other things, but that was an overall summary.

Do npt sweat what he said. The offseason is based on a strict training schedule. They do things in order. First they get stronger then they get conditioned, and so on and so fourth. He will start getting on the same page as his receivers soon enough.

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

Was anyone surprised at anything reported here?

He did what athletes are taught to do these days; praise everyone and everything and mention how hard you are working and how you need to take your game to the next level. :frusty:

Even if he believed that Joe Gibbs was a senile old fool who could not put his own Depends on without assistance {I'm sure Ramsey does not think that!] he would not say it. He'd say that Gibbs is a wonderful and creative genius who thinks only about winning and making each roster member a better person and player tomorrow than he is today.

Recap of interview:

1. Information Content = ZERO

2. Fan evaluation = Warm and Fuzzy

3. Team Evaluation = Excellent because now it is over and no one wet themselves in the process.

Man, it must suck to go thruough life with such a negative outlook on things that you had to denigrate this interview just for the sheer purpose of crapping on it.. In the boring period before camp forgive people for getting a little excited to actually see and hear from someone on the team for 5 minutes..

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

Actually, my life is really great. With few exceptions, I get to do whatever I feel like doing when I feel like doing it. So, I'm really not unhappy.

When folks start toget rhapsodic about the most meaningless of events - like an interview that reveals that Patrick Ramsey likes cuddley kittens and does not enjoy having a proctological exam - it is time to add a small measure of reality to the discussion. If you prefer to continue to hand on every word that drops in interviews such as these, go right ahead. But they don't mean squadoosh!

Oh, by the way, rasslin' is indeed "predetermined" in terms of its outcome. Just wanted everyone to be sure they were on board with that...

wrestling is fixed?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?????

JoeRedskin 04-06-2005 12:39 AM

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

But SC, what if I don't want reality? Reality is a depressing 6-10 season. I don't want even a dose of that until I must, in fact, accept it. So, in the offseason, let me please imagine that PR's affinity for cuddly kittens will ensure that next season we are in the Superbowl.

Perhaps, just perhaps, we recognize the absurdity of such an event choose not to acknowledge it.

AND wrestling is NOT fixed. It only pretends to be fixed to confuse those who don't think it's real.

According to Ramsey the foot operation he had March of 04 really set him back. Physically he could not workout. wasn't able to do anything till 3rd mini camp in June. Still was not rehab much and learning another offensive system. Ramsey says he is ready to lead the team back this year.

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

SC is right, it was pretty much a fluff interview, not much different from what Skins.com had, and that was fluff too.

That being said, since it's an extremely slow time for news right now, of course we're going to eat up whatever little nugget we're fed!

Schneed10 04-06-2005 09:54 AM

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

Sure it's a fluff interview, but is there reason to think that Ramsey doesn't believe what he said? We'd all expect Ramsey to paint a rosy picture, but that doesn't mean that Ramsey is necessarily exaggerating.

Looking at the recap:
"Says its been great for him to play in different offenses (Spurrier & Gibbs)...says he feels that gives him an advantage and now it's time for him to step up and perform. Added that they went from a pass oriented offense to a run oriented offense last year and this year he hopes the offense is more balanced." I would agree with that, in today's NFL with all the player and system turnover, you're at an advantage if you can adjust to change more quickly. Ramsey has dealt with change before, so if Gibbs brings in new WRs and add downfield passes, I think Ramsey believes he'll be ready to deal with that change.

"Mentioned that there was a stat that stated that if the Redskins had scored one more touchdown and each game, they would have been 11 - 5 last season. Basically stated they were very close to being a winning team." So true in the NFL, it's a fine line between winning and losing.

"His relationship with Brunell is great. Considers Mark his best friend on the team." This part I think is exaggerated, I thought he and Jansen were best buds, they go hunting and stuff. But still, I see no reason to believe his relationship with Brunell isn't a good one.

"Spoke very highly of Joe Gibbs...basically says he[Gibbs] is everything and more than what people say about Joe Gibbs(those that actually say good things about the man.)" Would he trash Gibbs on TV? No. Have you ever heard a former player trash Gibbs? No. Ramsey loves him just like everyone else does.

So what does all this mean? Not a lot, you're right about that SC. But just because Ramsey is supposed to say all the right things doesn't mean he doesn't believe them. I think he has faith in the team's direction and I think he truly believes they'll be good this year.

Didn't Riggins say some fairly harsh things about the coaching staff during the season?

MTK 04-06-2005 10:10 AM

Riggins says anything that will draw attention to himself. I love the guy as a player, off the field is a different story.

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

Yeah, I'm not big on being negative about the interview. I agree that most of it is fluff, but from all I know about Ramsey, he is a good guy and a team player which makes his statements more believable. If he continues to build on last season's progress, we could make the wildcard playoffs this year. Expect big things from his this season. :twocents:

He was mainly talking about Gibbs health. He said that Gibbs looked drained and exhausted. He thought that maybe Gibbs couldn't handle the workload, because of his diabetes.

Re: NFL Network's Breakdown on Ramsey

For breaking news, the NFL Network is going to rival redskins.com in terms of explosiveness. The network is owned and operated by the NFL - they aren't going to create controversy or harm any franchise.

The post-game information the NFL Network provides is first-rate, because they have access to NFL Films cameras. There will be no investigative journalism, though.

Not the coaching staff as a whole, but about Joe Gibbs. He mainly talked about Joe Gibbs having diabetes and so forth. I think he was still thinking in terms of how Gibbs' health was when he retired rather than the present condition.

Yes it was a fluff interview..but it was nice to see a Redskin inteviewed. I had no idea what the inteview was going to be about prior.
