Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy?

McCoy has more experience as a starter....Cousins did well when RG3 went down with a concussion vs. Atlanta in 2012 and the game he started vs Cleveland.......but in 2013 Cousins struggled and showed he's overrated, even as a backup quarterback.. ..which one of these quarterbacks is fit to back up Robert Griffin III?

Too early to say because I like to see them play within the system. I like having 2 quality backups though

From what I have seen of McCoy in the past and Cousins struggles last year I believe we must all keep our fingers crossed that Robert stays healthy.

skinsfaninok 05-13-2014 09:03 PM

Chris cooley said if we were offered a 2 for KC we would have traded him. Cleveland apparently offered a 4. I still would have pulled the Trigger on it

Article in regards to McCoy and what he went through in Cleveland. Feel for the dude. I can see why DaBoll can't keep a job.

I'd take Kirk over Colt by the way.

I honestly have no idea at all. I really like Kirk but what I saw of him last year was not impressive at all.

KC, no doubt about it.

Re: Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy?

To be fair we really need to start over and let Cousins and McCoy battle it out because this is a new coaching staff and a new offense. I still like Kirk's chances but fit matters. Let's see how they do in preseason.

Hey, if he can, then all the better! That's what I like about this year, it seems like Gruden is trying to bring in a lot of competition to see who really wants it the most.

Re: Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy?

It's been pretty close actually. McCoy leads in most pro passing categories, but there's a huge difference in the sack rates that favors Cousins.

If you include college stats, the gap widens in favor of McCoy.

Neither projects to be much more than solid league average in their prime. But that is valuable.

Re: Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy?

I agree with Schneed that we first need to see how Cousins and McCoy perform under the current coaching staff and system, but right now I prefer Cousins. However, I'm still holding onto the hope that some team will trade us a high draft pick next year in return for his services. I'd be okay with McCoy as primary backup.

Colt go cold cocked by Harrison thought the was dead, but he was doing good. KC is just Shannahan waering his "Beckgoggles".

I know that's one reason why Shanny's coaching style is deficient.

Colt Mc Coy had his career interrupted by a nasty James Harrison hit. During that game against Pittsburgh he was doing good. Shannahan thinks Cousins is good just as he thought Beck was good. Shannahan's QB judgement is way off.

Please don't compare Cousins to Beck. Beck had the shortest and worst run as a starting QB in Skins history. Cousins is much better than Beck. But that's not exactly praise for Kirk.

You're right about Shanahan and QB's. It seems nearly impossible that any NFL HC could have thought that Beck was starting material. Shanahan was also the only coach on the planet who didn't think that McNabb was done before he made that stupid trade to bring McNabb to D.C.

I'm not nearly ready to say that Kirk can't be a good NFL QB. He's young, smart, athletic enough, and he has a strong arm. Let's see what Jay Gruden is able to do with him.

As for Colt, I hear that he's been a good son to his mother.
