Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
It wasn't a bad game.
Positives - Cousins looked superb. The guy's a starter. O-Line looked much better. DJax - Glad he got his TD. Negatives - Injuries - Losing D Hall is going to suck. And when losing D Hall means your secondary is going to blow, that's not a good thing. Penalties - I don't know how many we had, but it was a friggin TON. Someone let me know how many total penalties we had this game. Secondary - They sucked for a whole 60 minutes. Not good. Refs - Really refs? There were all sorts of non-calls on the defensive side of the ball. At least they got the ejections cleared up. Special teams - |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
A team loss IMO:
- Offense did not score points after the defense made key stops (or kept the Iggles to a FG) - Defense gave up way too many plays - ST...they just stink. Positives: I think we can beat a lot of teams with this team. I'm concerned about the injuries and some of the bonehead stuff we saw today (Baker). |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
The first real offense the Skins played exposed a lot of the flaws on the defense.
The offense and Cousins kept the team in the game. Once Cousins started to throw inaccurately, the game was decided. I thought the Oline protected well today which is great considering the rotation that was forced on them because of the injuries. Still when your defense and special teams allows almost 40 points and 400 yards, your offense pretty much as to be perfect, and it almost was. |

Hall in his spare time.. I know if Hall wasn't injured, it would've been him with the ejection. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Man if Hatcher is injured too, this is bad news. I'm guessing if D.Hall has a torn achilles he's done for the year. We might be in for a long year on defense, maybe we'll be ok against the Jacksonville's of the NFL but I'm definitely not looking forward to playing good offensive teams.

We played one today. Chip Kelly is the real deal. his team is falling apart though. All of the teams are getting hit with injuries. I think we will be ok. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I also think we had some very untimely bad plays at the end there. Just consider, after KC threw that pick did anyone think we would be in a position to tie or win with under two minutes left? Gotta give credit to the offense for at least putting us back in that position after being down 10 with 6 minutes to go.
|
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Penalties were actualy close to same. But ours were much more yds, and lot of no calls in philthYs favor, especially hit on a qb well after the whistle!
Bring back the replacement refs. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Negatives:
ST play Haslett's lack of adjustment on D (what else is new) No pass rush playing against 3 or 4 non starters on their OL Not using Ryan Grant (was targeted once) Missed FG by injured Forbath Miscommunication by Cousins and WR on at least to critical occassions |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I didn't get to watch the game but the score doesn't surprise me at all. Figured this one could go either way. What pisses me off is the Skins should be 2-1 after watching the G-men donkey stomp the Texans.

I'm not sure they're all drunk. Anybody who can't find something good to say about the Skins after today's game should find another team to follow and leave the rest of us alone. That's putting how I feel about it very mildly. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
The kick return for the TD and missed FG was the most crucial plays today... ST sucked today
Positives Offense Negative Injuries ST play |

Didn't Arian Foster miss that game? |
Didn't Arian Foster miss that game?
Yes he did. But still... The giants game is a must win. We can't slept to 1-3 and last place and hope to make any noise this year. But I think we will win. ST needs to right the ship already. |

I believe in a team effort, and I think Haslett did a good job on adjusting in the second half... Big mismatch was Mathews and Riley in the first half, and they fixed that with man coverage across the board, but then Merriweather got abused a few times. We just couldn't match the speed Philly has and we didn't force enough turnovers. Offense got the ball back on 3 straight drives and didn't produce any points. Just can't beat teams top offense teams like that. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Good:
Offense was mostly capable OL looked better Defense still not as bad as last year Bad: Special teams lost us the game Other: It's hard to call out Kerrigan because he wasn't bad and has had a good start. But Philly played a third team guy in front of him. Kerrigan should have DOMINATED. He was good but not dominant. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Positives:
Captain Kirk: I think we did enough on offense to win this game. Last drive notwithstanding he looked good most of the day. D.Jax: way to gut it out, and thanks for the bomb that managed to restore hope for a game that looked like it was going down the drain. Run defense: Not sure if this was a case of "they're not running because it's so easy passing the ball" or if it's "man they did a really good job of stopping the run" but either way their run game was nonexistant. I'm sure there's some more silver linings in here somewhere, but they're hard to find for me at the moment. Negatives: Defense: I will give credit to the Eagles, 3 games against the Chip Kelly era has shown they are not going to be an easy game as long as they have the Kelly/Foles combo working. But the Eagles looked they were toying with us when they had the ball for most of the game. Special teams: We had one good special teams day last week against the Jags, how about putting together 2 games in a row now? No need to give extra touchdowns to a team that can score super quick on offense. I'll give a pass to Forbath's shank since his groin is probably still injured, but that field goal definitely would've come in handy late in the game. And shoutout to Haslett for letting Riley get burned for a 2nd td after he looked clueless on Matthews' first td. Penalties: Can't tell if we are really that undisciplined or if the league is determined to make the players take the refs seriously. Either way I'm growing tired of seeing flags after every play. Pass rush: I know Foles gets the ball out quick but the Eagles practically put out a backup offensive line and we didn't get a single sack, a week after collecting 10 sacks? C'mon man. Closing statement: I think the one game against the Jags is starting to look like an anomaly on defense, but I do think our defense is better than last year's. With each game I watch Cousins play, I think he's got some work to do but for the most part he looks like a capable backup. And idk what they need to do to fix the special teams but giving up easy return touchdowns has to stop. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
The injuries are a huge cause for concern during a short week. Too many and too severe in the case of DHall.

Here is a question: Why does Santana Moss have a roster spot??
Here is a question: Why does Santana Moss have a roster spot??
lol I said that at the beginning of the game. It must suck to be brought back to a team just to be inactive every week. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I am just really tired of watching this team be just good enough to lose, all the time. How can special teams be this bad, how do you get 130 yards of penalties?
|

I'm hoping it will come in handy with the way these injuries are going. It seems like every game we're losing a couple starters. |

Thursday night games suck and for exactly this reason. Positives: Kirk played great a long with garçon and d jax. Kudos to the Oline in pass protection. Dline, lb and safeties came up and did a great job of stopping the run. We have a good punter. Negative: Its obvious we haven't put the bad times of special teams behind us. I would invest a roster spot to a kickoff artist. Philly had great field position on most kick offs. Hatcher and coefield really hurt us in our pass rush game. It could/should have been better. Sometimes gruden gives up on the run game. I'd wish it was a little more dynamic. Had some crappy drops (Paul, Roberts and garçon) that killed drives. Brandin merriwether effed up on the kick return for the td. He looked to have left his gap which opened the initial hole. Merriwether then got caught peaking into the backfield only to get beat for the macklin td. Poor play One more thing, chris baker I kow your fat, but damn it u let me down. One of my favorite plays in the game is when fat guys get ints. Dude u had an interception hit u in your hands. U gotta wrap that up |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Another negative... Perry Riley. Dude I thought it was London Fletcher back there again. The man can't play coverage and honestly, probably shouldn't be anyway. The dude stinks at it. There was no way we could get an extra DB or a safety to cover instead? Those two Matthews TDs were on Perry.

Tbh, when an OC gets a MLB on a WR in coverage, the OC beat the DC. No MLB is covering a WR with much success. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Sucks to lose one like that, but I'm not even that upset. They went toe to toe with a good team on the road. Fun game to watch. We've got reasons to keep our heads up.

This. Idk too many middle linebackers good enough to hang with wideouts in the slot. I put those two touchdowns on Haslett, you have to put your guys in position to succeed. Especially on the second, he already got burned once while looking clueless, you should've known they would try that again. |

Agreed, all in all really solid game. Only thing that is still killing us is special teams. Can't miss a 30 yard fg and can't give up a 102 yard ko return. Those 10 points cost us the game. Biggest concern is Dhall. Breeland looks good and filled in nicely, but really hope Dhall's injury isn't too bad, Achilles can be brutal. Edit: just caught up on twitter. Guess Dhall thinks he tore his Achilles http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=washington-redskins&id=11177&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2FUAbjomhzDn%22%7D Sounds like the season for him. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Positives:
This team is better than it's record. People forget we are missing Reed, Cofield, Golston (won't count Porter). We will be getting some players back, maybe Thomas and Crawford, Bowen. After Thursday's game they get 10 days to rest before their next game. |

I agree. IMO like a hamburger, we are about to go on a roll. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Meh. No matter who's the coach or the QB, this team (franchise) simply finds ways to lose. Doesn't matter if the QB throws for 500 yards, something else will screw up. It's been this way for twenty years and isn't changing now.
This team is 1-2 and people still think they're some juggernaut that's about to break loose. Nope. This isn't college football where a close loss might still give you some points in the standings. This is the NFL and there are no moral victories. Just another bad loss. |

IMO like a hamburger, we are about to go on a roll .
Word....this is last year, we get torched 88-3 Granted, teams f...d us up and the D could not do some critical stuff(injuries notwithstanding)...BUT HUGE F...n improvement over last year. Much to be excited about. With a couple of exceptions, KC was pleasantly-Lights Out. The core of this team has real promise. GOOD to see HTTR!! |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
The same shit that was killing us last year is right back again. Our teams play was atrocious today. You can't give up 100 yard KO returns and miss 33 yards FG's and expect to win on the road. That's 10 points and we couldn't overcome that. Real tough loss today.
|
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I have pretty much had enough of poor teams play myself...it should NEVER kill a team the way ours has.
Well now that I thank about it, we have tried conventional coaches......Army guy.... Perhaps we need to twist up the heat a bit and hire a Russian mobster for our next teams coach? |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Okay, we didn't get any sacks today, but people just look at stat lines.
We have 9 hurries, and 13 QB hits today. That's pretty damn good. Considering two of Foles throws were IG! Which was never called. I think Haslett did a good job of moving Kerrigan and Orackpo on opposite sides of the field throughout the game to mix it up. I think Breeland looked solid for a rookie and I'm encouraged about how he can force turnovers and be around the ball like Hall. Robinson got beat a few times, but overall he was all over the screen game of Philly and McCoy. Something we haven't seen since Kelly got to Philly I think the gameplan coming in was to stop those two out of the backfield, and force Foles to beat us.. Which, he sorta did... Kelly did a good job of putting Maclin in the slot and moving him around to force mismatches against Merriweather in coverage. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I said earlier in the week that I wanted them to compete against a good team on the road. They did. We will see them down in Fedex later on. Moving on. Lets take care of business against the Giants on Thursday.
