Around the NFL: Week 5
Good news to start the week:
Good news to start the week:

this just reported ............... the redskins are not a bottom 5 team.
The New York game really made people overreact, including me. We were definitely looking like an improved team before that debacle, but injuries to the two most important players on the defense, Reed, the starting LG, and many others that chipped away at depth, with no time for rest and recovery, was just too much. The team walked through every practice leading up to that game because Gruden wanted them to recover. You can't properly prepare for a team with walk-throughs. I'm not saying we're a good team, because we're not. But are we so bad that even if we're reasonably healthy and have a full week to prepare we'll lose by 30-plus to the Giants? No. I really hate the fact that we play the Seahawks on Monday night. Playing them competitively could really help our morale, but knowing us, we're more likely to get blown out. I don't see why the f*ck the NFL is making a 3-13 team play the defending champs on Monday Night Football. Makes no f*cking sense to me. |
Around the NFL: Week 5
On a separate note, anyone else notice how this season (so far, at least) validates those who say that Rob Ryan is a crappy defensive coordinator? The Saints' D is dreadful with him, and the Cowboys -- after losing everyone who was marginally decent -- is actually better without him.
Now that we have a lot to brag about in that department..... I still cannot believe how we made seemingly no adjustments during the Giants game. It just got worse and worse all day, and I think even the Giants players stated afterwards that they were shocked that nothing changed in the defensive fronts we were showing. |

Kinda through a kink in that plan though. |

And folks thought that with RGIII being healthy, the Redskins might return to 2012 form, while the Seahawks lost a number of folks in FA, thus making for a competitive game. Could have been a good storyline, actually. But instead, it will be -- which Redskins team will show up? The team that will play hard and lose a close one, or the one that will play hard but unravel and get the crap kicked out of them on national tv (again). I hate to say it, but I just don't see how we win this game. Unless a bunch of folks get healthy fast, the Seahawks have a collective brain fart, and we get some good bounces our way, I just don't think we're good enough to win. (Man, it pains me to write that.) It's crappy that we have that game, and then the short week before WE travel West to play AZ. I cannot believe we're staring down 1-5. But that's what happens when you lose games that you can or should win; good teams beat lesser teams consistently, and equal or better teams at least occasionally. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
I have to admit -- I love this: Steve Smith tells Panthers to mow his lawn in Carolina - NFL.com
He really stuck it to Carolina. Must have been enormously satisfying. I don't mind the jawing when you back it up. I'd love to see Smith and Richard Sherman square off. Would be hilarious. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
Happy Birthday Mark Rypien!! Your touch on the deep ball was uncanny.

I would probably trade Haslett for Ryan,I wonder if Ryan makes any adjustments during the game?:smashfreak: |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
The 2015 NFL draft will be held from April 30-May 2.
The 2014 draft didn't begin until May 8, drawing complaints from fans, media and teams. So the 2015 version is up a week, and will be held in either Los Angeles or Chicago instead of its usual Radio City Music Hall location. All the prospects can be tracked in our NFL Draft section. thank you Goodell for doing at least 1 thing right in your tenure |
Did you see the DirecTV deal?
you would think why even fight the blackout decision by the FCC, but they will. I actually know several folks have cut off the nfl over the last couple seasons and one of them is a Seahawks fan! |
Did you see the DirecTV deal?
Yep. $1.5 BILLION to show the NFL. The NFL ain't dead yet. I was hoping that they would do something different than giving Sunday Ticket back to Directv. Oh well. I'm not the one with the $1.5 bil. checkbook. |

The NFL is fine. It's the number 1 sport in the country, and will survive all of these problems. |

Whitehurst has been named to Nashville Lifestyle's list of the top-25 most beautiful people in Nashville. Make sure you check out that link and find the photo of Whitehurst wearing a hat and doing his best Johnny Depp impression (he said that look was on purpose and, in fact, a tribute to Depp). It's a pretty big deal, right? "Taylor Swift is on that list," Whitehurst said, via the Tennessean. "That's all I can say. That legitimized it for me." A fair point. But Charlie -- and I know this is a sports website, but bear with me for a moment -- what kind of maintenance do you do on those brown locks of yours? "It's kind of weird, there is no maintenance," Whitehurst said. "I wash it about twice a week. You don't have bed-head. You put it in a ponytail and you go. So it's virtually no maintenance, which is what people would not expect." Unfortunately for Whitehurst, he's likely to be relegated to backup status this week as Locker is expected to return. But damn if he won't look good sitting on the bench.
|

LOL , It's is the number one sport in the country and pretty close the world it it's making more money than God and because of some public relation problems you think the state of the game is all his fault ,you just hate him and I know why but I like him because he won't let the inmates run wild and I like that .Mark Cuban is a spoiled brat ,until the NBA has the NFL number he needs to STFU. |

Not by a long shot. Soccer is still the heavily favorite worldwide. |

Remember, Cuban is self made owner. There is a difference. And Im having a hard time understanding you g1, but im mad about numerous things with the game and not just one. The domestic abuse handling and cover up is not one im too upset about, but still an issue because Goodell dropped the ball after the Belcher incident. |

Cubin is a self-made billionaire who still acts and at time talks like an idiot . Goodell takes the heat for the owners simple as that ,you act like he is solely responsible for domestic abuse again it is a reflection of society pretty sure it went on under Pete Rosell. What is it with the game you don't like that Rodger himself has done ? |

Personally I have nothing against the Anti-Trust exemption as it insures a uniform league that attracts the best talent, but I have a huge problem with the exclusivity agreements employed by the NFL. Granted this has nothing to do with DirectTV but it should count as a shot across the bow: NFL must end TV blackouts or lose its antitrust exemption, Senators warn | Ars Technica |

I think the Packers' receivers are going to get tired from all those Lambeau Leaps tonight.

The nfl officiating is the worst it's been ever. Did u see the ref's Union today criticizing the league? Tell me why the fuck are games being played in London? Tell me why the fuck we got a shitty effing game on Thursday night in rainy Green Bay? Minnesota down 14 and if this game was Sunday teddy bridgewater could have played. The turn around is too quick for these guys. How do u preach player safety and pull this shit? Man eff roger goodell and this crap |

Another crappy nfl Thursday night game, shocker |

Vikings are fixing to get a good ol nationally televised strumming, Redskin style!!
|
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
The NFL needs to dump these Thursday games and just leave it for Thanksgiving. The games suck, the players hate it, so do the coaches. I turned it off. Christian Ponder? No thanks.

OF course we are the only home team to get stomped on TNF...........................................................................................................................................................

Another TNF stinker so far. 28-0
Ponder doing his best Kirk Cousins imitation. Two INTs so far in the first half. Gfycat - jiffier gifs through HTML5 Video Conversion. Fast, simple gif hosting without size limits. Ponder can at least say his OL is terrible at pass blocking. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
Just turned it over from baseball playoffs, heading back to watch the KC-LA game instead of this debacle.
|
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
The good news for Ponder is, at least he gets to go home and bang a hot chick.
|
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
I bet this game would be a lot closer if Teddy were playing. He was able to avoid the pressure last week and still make plays.
Oh, and no matter what Minnesota thinks, Ponder still sucks. As we're seeing tonight... |
