Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Not a lot to talk about right now, so let's look ahead to the Seahawks on Monday night at FedEx Field. Prime-time matchup against the best team in the league... what could possibly go wrong? :D
I'm stating the obvious, but if we fall behind early, this game is going to be the ultimate in ugly. Alfred and the running game need to get it going early to keep Cousins from trying to do too much. Otherwise we could see another 5 turnover day by Captain Turnover. If JReed finally shows up, he'll be a huge help to Cousins, but he said he was 50-50 yesterday. Hatcher at 100% should help our pass rush out a lot, but it won't be enough to keep Russell Wilson from having a career day if the corners don't step up. Oh, and Rak? If you're looking for a big pay-day, now would be a great time to add to your already impressive sack total. I don't think we'll totally crap the bed. In fact, I think we'll play fairly well, considering the opponent. Unfortunately that opponent is Seattle, and our best won't be good enough unless they give us some help. 30-20, Seahawks. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
It does stink they had a bye but I think the Skins will be more competitive than they were last week.
Seattle 31 Redskins 17 |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
is it time to start having that RG3 vs Russell Wilson conversation again? If it isnt clear now...

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Good Kirk shows up, an embarrassed team rallies.

Week 5 and I'm already out of optimism. How is the line only 7.5 on this one??
Seahawks 41 Skins 17 |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
I'm almost hoping that the Nationals' game 3 is on at the same time as MNF so that I have a good reason not to watch the Skins. It's a sad state of affairs...

Seahawks 41 Skins 17
Man no kool aide this year. =( |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
The worst part about the game is the Redskins are going to play great giving me hope and optimism then kick me in the balls with a shanked punt.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
No Way (and by that, I mean Tress Way). He's our MVP so far. Blocked FG more like.
Seahawks 33 Redskins 20 but one score in garbage time. It won't be close. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
OK, I'll agree that our chances to beat the Seahawks are slim to none. No Koolaid here either.
But -- This doesn't feel any darker than a 3-6 Redskins team going into the bye week in 2012. I guess my point is that that you're not out of it until you are, that really weird stuff happens in the NFL on a weekly basis, and that's why we're still Redskins fans after all these awful years. Just don't try to think about any of this rationally. We were never winning the Super Bowl this year. So if we get to figure out that we gained a good coach this year (the jury is still out), and have a decent front office with a real plan (and we don't know yet), we could be miles ahead of the Shanahan disaster. Hope springs eternal, I suppose... |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
I think we matchup well against Seattle. If we can get a few scores early I think we could win but if its a bozing match. I think Seattle is the tougher team and will win

Giantone, you're a class act, even though this has the feel of the girl who broke your heart saying "You're a great guy, and my friend really likes you." Not that this ever happened to me. |

Virginia in the fall for eight weeks, I bet it'll be gorgeous!!!! You need to start up a game day thread, pretty sure you were our good luck charm a few years back!!!!! Thanks for your service, stay safe!!!:food-smil HTTR |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Didn't Tampa Bay get the crap kicked out of them a few weeks ago? Then they go into Pittsburgh and steal one. Atlanta beat up on Tampa, then turn around and get beat by a rookie QB making his first start. It's a week to week league. Skins show up and give Seattle a game but lose a close one.

Yeah, at this point, that debate would be pretty one-sided... especially if you factor in how much each guy cost. Although if Wilson played on as bad of a team as Griffin and Griffin stayed healthy, there could still be a good debate. Unfortunately for him, "if's" don't mean sh*t. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
I am so bummed that we are almost ready to play out the string, and it's the beginning of October. Chalk Seattle as a loss and a 1-4 start. Gruden isn't committed to establishing the run, like most WCO coaches that are enamored with their own passing attacks.

Seattle 34 Washington 13
Trouble is we don't have any true starting material in the defensive backfield without Hall. Darryl Green probably could come back and smoke the bums we have in our secondary. If we had a real starting caliber O line, Alfred would get over 100 yards a game and probably more like 130 ypg. No more giving up first round picks for a while. We are not as lucky as the Patriots in the past with the quantity over quality strategy. Obviously, our scouting team sucks, and has done so for a long time. I just hope they bench Robert for the year and let him try and develop into a pocket passer, or just trade him for an additional first rounder or maybe multiple second rounders. At this point, our team is still so thin one man isn't going to get us to the promised land. I rather keep Robert, but odds are 50/50 at best he can stay healthy. |
is it time to start having that RG3 vs Russell Wilson conversation again? If it isnt clear now...
It is a moot point now. Seattle's FO is obviously trying to build and maintain a winning product, while Snyder was/is just after creating excitement surrounding one player. Football is definitely one sport where one guy isn't going to make all the difference in the world. I like RG III, but the hype and the expectations were just too unreal, and our FO/Owner gave in to the grand delusion. Seriously, non of these overhyped QBs of the last decade have panned out and lived up to expectations(Leinart, Bradford, etc). All were system Qbs or just had the athleticism to excel in the college game, where offenses still enjoy somewhat of an advantage if the teams opposing each other are of equal caliber or one is indeed a lot better. One thing I will say though, Robert has learned to slide and protect himself better, but he obviously needs to grow more comfortable in the pocket, and that will take time. My worry is that in that time period, if they do put him in to save the season is that he gets takes another blow to the knee or ankle and then it is game over for good. That is why I say risk tanking the season and keep Cousins in when RG III is cleared and give Robert time to get comfortable within the new system. Face it, we aren't going to win the SB, nor are we playoff caliber, even if Kirk somehow rebounds from his dismal TNF performance. |

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
I think we're too banged up to put up a fight. If the defense was pretty healthy, I would say we put up a fight against the running game, and make it a decent game.
Even if the defense was healthy, Seattle's pass rush is too much for our mediocre o-line. Oh well. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Final Score: Blood and Guts.
With that I bid you farewell. |

One is an injury prone QB with talent/potential, the other is a good QB that has an AMAZING defense and running game around him. So what's there to discuss? Wilson is not the only reason Seattle is winning, RG3 is not the only reason Washington is losing. |

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
I would feel a lot better about this game if it wasnt in primetime. We shit the bed when the lights come on and so does Kirk.
While many on this board dont agree I think Wilson is a top 10 qb,maybe top 5.He's smart, can run the zone read and be a pocket passer and makes good decisions, plus NOT INJURY PRONE. Dont see how this will be close, defense cant stop anybody, special teams are a joke, offense is too mistake prone. Seahawks 45 Skins 17 |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Skins pull the upset. Skins 24 Seattle 20. We don't usually win these games, but we usually play them close. This time saint cousins comes thru

Seattle 34 Washington 13
You nailed it, Jay Gruden sadly is not going to be the second coming of Joe Gibbs. It is evident he is too enamored with his West Coast passing game, even though the strength of the team is running the football. Unlike, Gibbs who was a Don Coryell disciple and was likewise pass happy, and did not adjust until an 0 - 5 start. Unfortunately I think Gruden is too stubborn to change philosophy. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread
Regarding this game, Seahawks 56 Redskins 13. Kirk throw five picks and has another fumble. Seattle has two defensive scores and one special teams score, thus the big blowout. Fed Ex field empty of Redskins fans by the third quarter.
(Edited Kurt to Kirk.....and to all of the Cousins fanbois he is still 1-5 as a starter, at this stage I could careless about RG vs. KC debate, I want to see this team win) |
