Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
I turned down free tickets to this game.

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread

Seems like the only way to have faith is to be a contrarian at this point.
The good thing is you play the game for a reason...
I turned down free tickets to this game.
What an awesome fan you are! Out of curiosity, do you ever complain about the stadium and the number of opposing fans that are there? Because it would be hilarious if you have/do. You would be a typical DC fair-weather fan. |

Believe me, he doesnt need the money. Actually a friend of mine who is a seahawks fan is taking them. Lol. Im going on a trip end of week so got to focus on work |

Im going on a trip end of week so got to focus on work
yeah, that fan is too. is that an excuse or something? you can pretend you have some legit excuse, but it's quite clear with your original post you turned them down because the team is currently playing poorly. same area that bailed on their baseball team when an NLDS game went into extra innings. awful sports town. people like you and your buddy are the reasons why. |

My boss might disagree. My buddy cant bring his 1 year old daughter to the game so thats a problem too. I think DC is not a bad sports town, certainly not aweful imo. I think you need to look at the fan experience at the games. I think the Wiz games are pretty decent. Caps I've heard do a great job. Heard Georgetown b ball games best game experience in DC. I havent been to the Nats games, but my same friend said its a good times, but in a shit area. I can speak to Fed Ex fairly well because Ive been there the most, but not in awhile. Never impressed when I went. Pretty average fan experience. It lacking imo and not worth the ticket or the headache |

Generally the seats themselves aren't so great. So I normally would just roam the sidelines and/or hang out in the production truck |

well there you go, it would be incredible to roam the sideline. Seats arent great, lets be honest. Ive sat in the club level, bottom and top. Is the traffic still the worse thing about the place or have they made improvements in the last 5 years? As a sidenote, its funny to me to experience the difference of "treatment" seating Club as opposed to second row from the top. its vast. |

I'm holding out hope that last thursday was the result of no practice due to injuries, and in general the injury issue. Which is an awful excuse, but till better than the idea that we're an awful team and only going to win 5 or fewer games this year :( |

It lacking imo and not worth the ticket or the headache
I had season tix for three years before giving them up. The headache of traffic and the inferior stadium set-up leave a lot to be desired. I don't think the fans are as fickle as people think, but when you are shelling out $200 + for a days experience there is nothing wrong with high expectations of what you will receive. Whenever I see away games the Skins are well represented so that leads me to believe it is the experience that is the problem not loyalty to the team. As for opposing fans? When you fly across country to watch the Seahawks play on Monday night you are expecting to over pay for the experience. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
Seahawks- Blood and Guts
Redskins- Show up to the stadium Not watching tonight, moved date night with my wife from Wednesday to tonight. She thinks something is wrong with me. |

It lacking imo and not worth the ticket or the headache
You can back peddle all you want about your excuse now being about work. You clearly came in here originally to post that you turned down tickets because the team is so terrible. I guess you didn't expect to get called out for your shtick. So you can now say you have a legitimate excuse and that you were just running on a stupid shtick, or admit you're a fair weather fan. Doesn't matter to me. Verizon center is an amazing venue - the fans don't show up when the teams aren't doing too well. Nats stadium is an incredible stadium and the surrounding area has jack to do with staying for a NL DS game going into extra innings. The idea that the stadium has to be a nice place is a poor excuse this fan base has built into its rhetoric over the years. I have news for you - RFK was a fucking dump. The problem is the fan base. They don't want to go to the games, they don't want to stay for the games, but they want to demand a new stadium, bitch about the current stadium, etc etc etc. Our fan base is just a bunch of fair weather fans. Literally and figuratively. It's sad. These same fans then bitch about how other teams take over our venues (and Verizon center is not immune to this...) It's just laughable to watch. |

Traffic is awful to and from the stadium
Depends on which way you go :) Though prime time games the only good way to go is early Like - before they open the gates early :( But that's a function of the area. The nationals were encouraging their fans to take Metro on Friday for the same reasons... We're one of the worst areas in the country for traffic on a regular business day. Add in 40, or up to 90 with the redskins, thousand people trying to get to a stadium... sucks. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
Since everyone will be picking the Seahawks. It will be one of those, they play competive so everyone stays up late, then lose on some stupid penalty or play at the end.
Skins 21 Hawks 24 |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
Idk, if someone offered me free tickets to tonight's game I probably wouldn't go either. I want the comfort of switching between the Nats and the Redskins, no way I'd get that at the stadium. I'm already going to be tired at work tomorrow anyways, if I went to the game that would only make it worse because of how late I'd get home. I don't think declining free tickets makes someone a fairweather fan, a fairweather fan would be someone who only pays attention when the team is good.

Traffic is awful to and from the stadium
Yeah, if really wanted to ball I would just have the ghetto bird fly me in landing on the 50 with a sedan chair waiting to be carried up to my seats. but yeah i turned those seats down cause im fairweathered |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
We will win!
Morris will get 46 carries breaking Jamie Morris' NFL and Redskins record. or he will get 46 yards and we lose... |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
when i used to go to skins games, i used to be that ahole in the group who demanded to be let out once you hit the standstill traffic near the stadium so i could stand/walk by the car and drink beer while our car inched along.

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
Well, not that stats tell teh whole story, but this is interesting to me in that it suggests that the teams are a lot closer than the doomsayers on this thread (myself included) would have thought: Watch Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Redskins [10/06/2014] - NFL.com
We have a more potent offense, and defensively we're actually not nearly as far behind as I would have thought, and fare better in 3rd down conversions and (shockingly) pass yards per game. Having said that, I fear that this is the week where the Seahawks improve on those numbers. Seahawks: 37 (includes a safety) Redskins: 19 (we settle for FGs) |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
^ I would guess the Jax game has inflated some of those defensive stats, whether that was glimpse of potential or playing an inferior opponent is subject to debate.

No question about that to me, and it isn't as though Houston's offense is particularly scary either, so 2 of our 4 games have been against weak offenses. Our run D was good against the Eagles, but then collapsed against the Giants. I think part of that was the health of key players (Hatcher most particularly) during those games. But our pass D has been pretty horrible when going up against decent offenses, and we will see one tonight (better than our first two games in any event). But I was surprised that Seattle has been so bad on D re: third downs. Of course, they've played far better teams -- the Chargers and Broncos -- who have been offensive powerhouses this season, and so that is definitely part of it. In any event, I have this chalked up as a loss, as much as I would like to indulge in the "any given Sunday" fantasy. Plus, it's Monday. |
Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Gameday Thread
I have to say. Seahawk fans are some of the worst to interact with on the intrawebs. God damn they make me want to smash my head into a brick wall.

You could probably say the same thing for every fan base out there. Some people just sucked. |
