Pregame Thread: Redskins vs Colts

The Era of Colt McCoy has begun. I'm excited to see what he can do.

Yeah wouldn't it be nice if we actually find out we have a decent starter, until we can figure out the future. Good luck Colt!

Not excited at all, Mccoy sucks folks, sorry but he'll probably be benched for Cousins sooner or later

He's a decent back up but he won't be a full time starter imo.

Me either.

He was in a terrible situation in Cleveland. Gets judged for his arm strength, but some of the best in the NFL don't have incredible arm strength. I think his intangibles are some of the best we've ever had in Washington behind center.

What makes you say that? Everything he's done in Washington so far has shown he can be a starter for this franchise...

Is it his age?

Is it because he was already playing somewhere else?

I don't get it.

Re: Pregame Thread: Redskins vs Colts

The Texas Noodle is the best game manager we have. I think Colt will stick for the rest of the year because he makes the fewest negative plays and, while limited, makes enough positive plays.

skinsfaninok 11-27-2014 04:30 PM

Re: Pregame Thread: Redskins vs Colts

Not his age just his overall play in his career. Yeah he had a good game against dallas and Tennessee but not enough to be named the long term answer

Re: Pregame Thread: Redskins vs Colts
I don't get why we write off Colt so quickly
I know nothing, including why the heck any of our QBs are being written off at this point. Nick Foles took a year to become a decent QB, didnt he? Wasnt Eli Manning being discussed as a bust early in his career, before he became a decent QB?

Rg3 shined in Mike and Kyles 2012 system. I thought McCoy looked decent in CLE, just not as good as Hoyer, and good for us. And Cousins is just getting started.
Not his age just his overall play in his career. Yeah he had a good game against dallas and Tennessee but not enough to be named the long term answer
His career hasn't even been judged in a full season of play yet. He had some injury problems early on. He was in Cleveland of all places.

Plenty of QB's in the NFL who went to another system on another team and had success and played well.

All I know is right now....

85% Completion Percentage.
450 yards
2 Touchdowns (1 rushing)
2-0

If a rookie was playing for us right now, or any other first year QB had those stats or beat Dallas on Monday night football. People would be calling him the next Joe Montana around here.

It's a shame as a fan base we base players the way we do. It's like we all have Snyder glasses on from being treated the way we have been treated.

The guy starting this Sunday is as humble as they come. He's getting his shot again in the NFL and he's done nothing but play lights out for this franchise and WIN for this franchise so far.

I feel like we deserve the culture we receive because of the way we act as a fan base.

What was the number? 27 qb's in 21 years? The organization has made us a tad bit skeptical.

Liked him coming out of Texas, a classic wc offense qb. I don't think he can get the ball down the field like Jay wants him to do sometimes. arm strength issue was obvious that 1st half in Dallas.

He is a resilient little bastard, very tough qb. Much more so that Kirk or rg3 and think that is the connection really matters with Jay.

I think we will def do better on offense but theres no way our defense can keep up with Luck unless we can come up with some turnovers.
Dont know what final score will be but I think Indy wins by at least 10

Ridiculous. Redskins fans are just fine. The culture of the Redskins has been moulded by Dan Snyder, not the fan base.

This. It feels kinda like the year Todd Collins got the chance and pretty much killed it, we should have stuck with him and let J Campbell learn that offense behind a veteran who can run it.

Maybe Gruden knows exactly what he's doing.

This is exactly how i feel actually, but I predicted a win because thats pretty much as good as it gets lately as a Skins fan....predictions, offseason chatter, etc. It's just the stupid games that make me feel sad.

Colt McCoy, you mean Colt McCoy that used to play for the Browns? You mean that Colt McCoy? I already know him. We used to call him Beck.

He's in, get over it...really try.....at least for now. He's no Peyton, but for now until we get the QB picture sorted out, he may be the best we have. Who know's, perhaps he'll do a good job. Look at Sanchez
At least for now, Robert had to go...for the locker room if nothing else and for his own good as well. Hopefully he can make it back....

RG3: 1-4 2014 team record, 85.7 RTG

McCoy: 2-0 2014 team record, 107.0 RTG

I wish RG3 could get back to 2012 form, but Gruden has to play the best current QB, and right now that isn't Robert Griffin the third.

If McCoy had played since the Dallas game, and either him or Cousins played week one, there is no doubt in my mind we are a 6-7 win team rite now and very much alive still. No doubt whatsoever.

Ever since producing his own comeback documentary for ESPN, I have been convinced that Griffin has been more concerned with building his brand than honing his craft. I have never been more disappointed in a player that I so desperately wanted to succeed.

Colt McCoy is a known commodity. Gruden has the power he wanted now I get to judge him like he judges RG3. I hope Gruden likes brutal honesty.

Re: Pregame Thread: Redskins vs Colts

I like McCoy 'cuz he's from UT and seems like a good guy, but I feel pretty confident in saying that writing him off as a backup is perfectly reasonable. People point to the big win against Dallas and their amazing defense and the other impressive victory against undefeated Tennessee, but McCoy has 1 passing TD that was all Garcon, a bad interception in the end zone against Dallas, and has led the offense to what... 33 points in almost 7 quarters against two bad defenses? And I'm afraid some people have conveniently forgotten about that sack he took against Dallas that knocked us out of field goal range(see, it's not just RG that does that).

But yeah, if McCoy actually plays well over the next several weeks, I'll be cheering louder than anyone.

No one thinks McCoy is the savior of this franchise. I think fans and probably the coaches, just want to see the Receivers do more than just run down the field waiving their arms in frustration. And stop seeing RG3 get jack hammered into the turf. And see the Offense score more that 6 or 7 points a game. They aren't putting McCoy in because they think he's the answer for the next 10 years.

He's playing because RG3 couldn't show the capacity to play the QB position at even the most basic level.

Good points on McCoy although he threw a nice deep ball to DJax that would have been a TD if not for PI. He's definitely nothing more than a career journeyman backup who started the year as a third stronger. I think it says more about Robert that he couldn't keep such a mediocre guy on the bench.

Egg-sackly. This is almost still an evaluation on RG-3 imo. If Colt continues to have success than we can stop blaming everyone else.

Unnamed person in this thread: "Everything he's done in Washington so far has shown he can be a starter for this franchise."

And yeah, I agree with your other points. I'm all about letting guys play to develop, but not before they're ready(Griffin isn't). I agree with the decison to start McCoy, I just don't think he's anything other than a serviceable backup that will get us to the offseason on all fours instead of crawling on our belly.

This will be the game where we see our real defense show up again... We've played some really crappy offenses the last couple games. The offense will play better, but we'll need more then 30 to have a shot.
