As a Yankee fan, I would say this is about as much fun as watching the Skins in 2000, who had the highest payroll, but they were players from the 1992 All-Madden team. Once we lost that 2001 WS to AZ, George got a lot more involved and made some very rash decisions that are starting to cost the Yankees. This team got old fast.

There are some positives though. The bandwagon fans will leave and this really puts a dent in the "Yankees buy titles" claims.

i don't hate the yankees but i never root for them to win. i have a hard time rooting for teams from ny or cal. for some reason, regardless of the sport.

Me too.... i dont know why I just really hate teams from NYC. Even in sports I don't really like. Man, on the Yankee boards they are yelling at each other and their team. Its funny to see people not used to losing doing it so often.

There are still yankee fans who think that the O's aren't good. I'm like thinking what don't they like about the O's the great Offense, defense, or pretty good pitching?

Yes, I have a problem with teams from NY for some reason too. Baseball needs a salary cap. Yankees have the biggest bunch of bandwagon jumping fans EVER. Unless people are from NY, it seems they only like them when they are winning.

Tonight was just great they're tied in the 10th and they have:

3 E's
2 walks
1 Hit batsman

and a big loss for the home team........:laughing2

Of course they are yelling at each other and their team, much like we've been doing here with the Skins. Unless they happen to be Skins fans too over there, they have no idea what its like to have the biggest payroll and lose badly. I'm used to it each fall.

The O's are good and much improved from last year. A WS team? No, but they have a great shot at the AL East.

I'm an O's fan by nature, Nats fan by association, and a Yankee hater because of how I was raised :)

Neither of my parents are big into sports, but they'll watch the O's and the Redskins...and root hard. I was raised on 2 concepts: Love the O's and Skins, Hate the Yankees and Cowboys.

This hurts. I'm a Yankee fan. But now I have my NL team with the Nats. They're playing well, so I'm happy. The Yankees will turn it around sooner or later. You can't sit here and think that a team with that much talent will play this bad for the rest of the year. But then again this is a "yankee haters" thread, so you guys are probably loving life right now. I hope they can turn it around.

For now Go Nats!

BTW....I hate the Boston Red Sox. Matter of fact, I hate everything about Boston.

Feel exactly the same way.

The biggest reason why I hate the Yankees is because of that ALCS when Jefferey Maier leaned over the fence to grab a pop fly and the umps ruled it a home run. That was sickening.

I don't really like to talk smack until after the season is over; mainly for fear that they might turn things around.

yeah he must be on the cream and clear ;) actually it's kind of funny that he's doing so well after they practically kicked him off the team for Giambi who is barely hitting .200 now and is under one of the biggest steroids clouds in the league.

with the yankees this will happen though cuz with their lineup they r bound to pound up on some scrub teams like Oakland and Seattle, impressive :biggthump

I'll hold off saying they r legitimately back in the hunt until they start playing good teams again but they're schedule this month is pretty soft(so far 9-5 against Oakland, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Toronto with 3 upcoming games against Seattle again, the Mets, Detroit, Boston and they end the month in a game against the Royals.) If they don't finish the rest of the month atleast 9-4 or 10-3 then they still deserve to be looked at with doubting eyes.

Yeah they lost 2 to Oak in Oakland, then took 2 of 3 off the Yankees in their own house. You are talking about 8 wins off the bottom 2 teams in maybe the worst division in MLB(most of them at home). Yeah I know it is not even 1/4 the way though but 2nd place in the AL east may not be enough to get into the playoffs this year. And frankly I am quite happy with a 5 1/2 game lead and 5 out of 6 wins over the Spankees.

The yankees pitching will doom them in the end because they have to rely on aging arms to hold strong down the stretch. Johnson is no longer intimidating and has been very hittable, Kevin Brown is a shell of his former self, and the past year or so with Mussina u never know what u r gonna get. Plus the crutch of the yankees pitching staff, Rivera, has blown save after save against the yankees most hated foe. And with nothing even close to resembling a farm team, Steinbrenner will have a hard time buying plugs to fill the leaking boat known as the Yankees. The Yankees just don't come close to resembling the team a decade ago that was on an annual basis pretty much destroying everyone that came before them, including my Padres in the 98 world series. The Yankees will once again be on top cuz the boss and selig will do everything in their power to keep their goliath up and ready for the next david to come along and give it a go.

I just think it's disgusting that they basically have an all-star team for their normal team. I also have an issue with the Yankees because people will be fans of them because it's the "cool" thing to do (it seems). Like I gave some shit to this student the other day about him wearing a Yankees hat and he's like, "I don't really know anyone on the team, I just know it's who I SHOULD like."

You took the words from my mouth. A LOT of people like them just because of their "Neon Green" hats and off-color jerseys. If there weren't all of these fake fans, I wouldn't hate them nearly as much. It's like the fake people are STILL as passionate about the team yet don't know anything about it.

Funny thing is, is that they're alot of "Cowboy" fans that are just like that!

I'll say my theory again on Cowboys fans. It seems like a lot of them (around here anyway) think that by "liking" the Cowboys they are in fact, Cowboys themselves. And being the true necks that live around here, I can see their logic. Most of them feel like the Cowboys are the teams that white trash rednecks should like.
