The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Yes! Got the W
Gud: Kirk played really well. The online is just nasty! Special kudos to Moses and Luavo...they stood out. This one-two punch of Morris and jones looks special. Bad: who cares, first win of the season Great: Matt Jones is a beast! Pot roast was really good today. Unsung goldson free safety play. I really liked the way the new kicker came in and made a significant impact. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
The great...and maybe the best of the day was the game ending drive we started around 8 minutes left in the 4th. Great running and timely throws by cousins. Well executed and well called. We didn't go all conservative. That's redskins football
|
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
good: lines / grit / cousins
bad: penalties great: running over the rams. Man football. nuff said. |

Good:

Offensive line was dominate & against one of the best defensive fronts
Matt Jones went beastmode
Kirk Cousins had a fantastic game
Defensive front dominated the Rams offensive line
Special Teams played much better
Bad:

Penalties (7) still killed a few drives
Overall this is one of the best games I've seen from the Skins in a while. This is old school smash mouth football at it's best. Dominate the line on both sides and go from there. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Good: entire first half. A kicker that kicks it out of the end zone...matt Jones (who?) Maaattt jooooneeesss.
Great that if one runner is having a hard time there's another to step in and give a push. This is going to be valuable all year, mark my words. Bad: we still haven't made good adjustments at the half. After the first 2 quarters we were playing well ahead, then stuck with the same scheme and came close to having it tied up/losing the lead. It seems like our coaching staff is not acclimated to making adjustments, and thinks because we are leading at the half we can just cruise through 30 more minutes of football....thats, unfortunately not going to happen. The great: 3 shots of fireball. One for each touchdown. |

Love that McCloughan's fingerprints were all over this win.

Physical football...McC know the tradition here, finally getting back to it. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
If the defense and running game look like this week in and week out, then wins & losses are going to come down to two big things: Special teams and Cousins eliminating turnovers.
If Cousins could ask for two throws back it would probably be the one that was almost picked (obviously) and the underthrown ball to Ryan Grant that is likely a TD pass if thrown to him in stride. (I can't remember that that drive ended though, did we get points?). I still do have question marks about Kirk for games that are close and the running game is being shut down. There will be games on this schedule where he will likely have 30_ attempts and have to make plays like that nice throw to Reed, but more times a game. However, until those situations come up, Kirk can continue to win with efficiency and I will be happy with it. |

2 games and the D has given up 20 points. What?!

But Joe Barry sucks! LOL. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
good: almost everything, especially ST's not screwing it up this week.
bad: penalties, making good half-time adjustments still don't seem to be our thing. this offense seems to be kind of like the 2004 chiefs in a lot of ways, though not as good. |

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
I think every single fan had a right to be pessimistic about Barry as the DC. Nothing of his career projected anything good. I think it has more to do with the acquisitions that Scott made in the off-season to beef up that DL. Our secondary still sucks. At least we're getting better play from the S spot. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
I do not know if it is true, but i read that Amerson never sniffed the field today. They played the guy they signed earlier this week. If this it true, just cut his ass now

That's a definite possibility with Culliver coming back this week. |

Amerson was out there on special teams. He was responsible for a block in the back penalty. |

This is my favorite stat. Very excited about that The run game is special. Oline Dline game balls. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
A ton of good out there today. The bad for me is the stupid penalties. Those are just drive killers. Really hate to say anything bad about a great win so so I'll leave it at that!

Jordan Reed got called for a holding ON A CB FOR THE 2ND WEEK IN A ROW. He is a baller on routes though. We had a lot of 2 and even 3 TE sets today and they executed in the run game. Same type of calls as last week with a better result. I like the conservative play calling with Kirk. The dude has a ton of upside but his psyche was fragile last year. I have a feeling that has a lot to do with the conservative game plan. I also have a feeling the play calling will loosen up when the coaches gain more confidence in Kirk to forget mistakes. He made a really poor decision today that should have been picked. Jones helps Alf and Alf helps Jones and both help Kirk. We were more physical than the Rams on both sides of the ball today. |

Just my observations, not sure if anyone else saw that. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Lets keep this train a runnin....rite over the Giants.

Agree. Great observation. I think some of the switch was situational. Down and distance. They starting bringing 8 in the box almost every 50/50 down and distance in the 3rd quarter. Kirk hit some passes over the middle and opened it back up. Same as last week, I thought the penalties more than the "adjustments" hurt us after the half. Hard to call a play for 1st and 20 or 2nd and 15. By the 4th, they were playing us straight up again. |

Im not saying dont run the ball, I like that, keep doing it. But when we run the ball like we have, and then we do some first down passing (which is necessary imo), it has to be play action, not some of these screens and other 2 or 3 yard passes. Even with conservative play calling, Kirk had 2 ints last week and should have been another today but it was dropped. He is going to throw them, might as well try some throws downfield if the OL can keep the defense at bay. This was 2 of the top DL's in the league according to the pundits, and the OL dominated both of them. |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
I think Kirk has done a great job. Hes always gonna be a INT guy but he made me forget all about he who shall not be named.

Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Barry not gray. My bad. Still have that secondary coach gray in my head. Repeat to self joe Barry not jerry gray - joe Barry not Gary gray

Thursday is a trap game. I can remember 2 season where the Giants came out the first few weeks struggling, then they beat the Redskins and went on a roll afterward. We would be in really good shape though if we win! |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
This quote of KC in post game press conference says it all for me.
""Anytime you can win in this league, it’s very, very important. We felt like we played well enough to win this week and we found a way to win. I think – I went through this in college – but as a young player you learn how to win. You learn what it takes. I feel like we’re in that process right now. I don’t know that I as a young player last year knew how to win, and I think I’m still in that process trying to get there. But it’s something that I think if we can play through it with some of these young guys and just keep growing and learning together, I’m excited about what the future could hold if we can just keep growing and learning and pushing through things together." Kirk Cousins has 10 or 11 (?) CAREER NFL starts. Most of those behind a terrible offensives line and on a terrible team. Now our offensive line and defense is improving and....what a surprise...so is our team. I like how humble and hungry he is to keep getting better. He praises his teammates. What a breath of fresh air... |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Anyone still think we drafted, "MattmfingBEASTJones!" too high? Great game! Little scary when it looked like the Rams might come back but this team FINISHED today. Great drive at the end of the 4th quarter and as Matty said, this game had SM all over it. Funny how building the lines also builds winners. You think after the Hogs Danny would have already figured that out. Give me tough hardnosed players over overrated divas any day! HTTMFR BABY!!!

Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Did we come out of the game with any injuries? I could not watch.
|
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
I think Perry Riley is nicked..
Not sure how bad....... |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Just a good overall feeling about how the team played. Seems to be changing and I can see the philosophy of this team starting to come together. Just need the talent.

Good:
Scot M for this years draft (making an impact) Callahan KC OL Jones Reed Hopkins Barry D Bad: Tress Way had some short punts today |

Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
All I ask for this season is compete level and have teams remember they played the Washington Redskins. Through 2 weeks, I can't complain, especially against teams who play tough and are eager to make that jump into playoff bracket.
|
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
So glad we could stick it to Fisher and his three draft picks.
Our running game may be scary. Our O line is like night and day from last year. Luv this win...bigtime! |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
OLINE was great again
RBS are awesome! Garcon and Reed were good again. Defense gets an A all day. Great team win and the new Kicker is good |
Re: The Gud, the bad and the Great. Rams Post game reactions
Bad: Tress Way had some short punts today
Gruden addressed it in the press conference. It was intentional to keep it away from their returner. He actually kinda joked that it killed Tress' numbers. |
