Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Who is getting cut to make room for Culliver?
A lot of people on twitter are saying one of the back up OL but I wouldn't be surprised if Amerson is cut after his performance against Miami. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Justin Rogers

Agreed, either goes to IR or just cut. |

Week 3? Can't we enjoy the week two win?

Sent from my S6 Edge[/quote] I was thinking that too. On short weeks I thought we had a loose off the books kinda rule to savor the win for 24 hours. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
You cut Blackmon before Rogers. Rogers has played good for us. He's good in the slot
|
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Big trap game though. I'm not going to make a prediction this week. Just hopeful for a win

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
This is one of those "prove we are a different team" kind of games.
This team has a habit of laying eggs in New York, especially after they seem to have some kind of momentum. Also, at 0-2, the Giants are going to be pushing the desperation button, probably going to be opening up their offense trying to push the ball downfield to get points. Historically this is a game we feel good about going into for good reason, and then get humbled on national TV and come out of thinking "same ol' redskins, ugh" I think on paper and from what we have seen from both teams so far, we have a great opportunity to go in there and beat this NYG team up, but finishing drives and getting TDs, not FGs will be essential. I will go out on a limb here and say: Redskins 23 NYG 16 Lets do thiiiiiiiiiiis! |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Romo and Bryant out, and the Boys are now led by a guy who once got sacked by a giant American flag (look it up).
Football SVPER GENIVS Chip Kelly's Donald Duck offense offense circling the drain. Giants not looking particularly impressive. Don't look now, guys, but you might get a shot at taking the East. |

It is a huge trap game. That being said, we are going to win. They have a banged up DL, and injuries at LB and CB. I think we will move the ball similar to the previous weeks, keep it close and win a tight one. I will also predict our D keeps Larry Donnell's name from being mentioned as a pro bowl TE. Polar opposite of last year. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
yeah, the east did just kind of open up. i think winning 4 games in division is pretty doable with the state of the other teams right now.
this game is winnable, we just have to avoid old habits. |

"Trap" game? We haven't beaten the Giants in forever. This isn't a trap game it's a NFC East game that we have to win if you think this year is going to be different. In fact, if this team can win the next two I will get a little excited this year. As of now I'm happy for the win but until we actually win a few games in a row I won't believe we have turned it around. Love the new style of smash mouth ball on offense and defense. But I need to see more than two weeks |

Yeah I'm not talking giants until Tuesday. I'm enjoying this win.

It's all about who recovers the fastest in these Thursday Night games

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
It's a trap game, for sure. Giants usually play us well, and we have underperformed in primetime recently (which is why we have very few primetime games now).
However, the past two games were pretty consistent for us. Good D, Good run game, O+Dlines playing well, and a QB managing the game. The Giants currently are ranked #31 in defense and we're -- #1. If we just play like we've been playing, and get some good QB play -- we may be more competitive in years past. Will be fun to watch, first time I can say that in a while.. |

I pray that it was sarcasm.. If not who tf thought of that was relevant to track?? My guess is it is just the all time record of the away team on Thursday night. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
I can't buy a division game being a trap game. Maybe if this was week 10 and the it was a 8-2 team going against a 3-7 team, but it's only week 3, there should be no heir of arrogance developed by any team yet, let alone one that is coming off a 4-12 season.
Doesn't mean we won't lay an egg or lose. I think we match up well with the NYG on paper, and with what we do well versus what they do well, however for two weeks in a row this team has also dominated their opponent statistically but the games themselves ended up being close. I think instead of a trap, I am more worried about how these guys perform in primetime slot against a veteran QB who while is hot & cold, is still crafty and often finds way to win. Week 3 is early in the season for a team like this to have the spotlight shined on them. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Cousins and the Skins in general also have terrible history with the Giants. Last time I can remeber beating them was in 2012 on Monday night.
|
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
We typically shit the bed on Nationally televised games.
Despite killing it against the Rams and the Giants being pretty terrible, I'm still pretty worried. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
I am going to be worried every week unless and until winning becomes far more routine. Make take years.

Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
The 0-2 Giants are in full on......desperation mode. They are coming off there 2nd consecutive "had the game in the bag" game. But still no W's. They cannot afford to lose another . It will have to be TAKEN from them.
The team I saw yesterday is capable of......Taking it from them.......HTTR |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Personally, I think the Dolphins and Rams are vastly superior teams to the Giants.
Our problem is: we lose due to stellar individual performances, not team efforts. Aside from a handful of games over the years, I can't remember a TEAM rolling over us. It's always, "Career day from ________". I worry we'll give up 250 yards receiving to Beckham, but I have a lot more faith in our secondary recently. Defensively, if we don't give up an insane individual offensive performance, I like our chances. We should be able to pound the ball down their throats. Enough about the Giants. Rams win bucked the trend of the usual second half collapse. I saw a couple signs of it coming, and we said F this and just stomped their throats. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Short week, I was going to start this thread myself. I hope the team is already moved on to the Giants as well. Alot of people playing connect the dots as far as who has beaten who, etc. Did anyone notice the Jaguars beat the Dolphins yesterday? That sort of took the wind out of my sails a bit, but hey its the NFL. We should have beaten them too if we could have finished a couple long drives. I think the Giants are going to be really really desperate for a win, and they did look good yesterday. It is a road game too. That being said, this Redskins team has been as good in the trenches as anyone this year, and that is what wins games. I think KC gained a shitload of confidence yesterday and our offense will have a field day against the Gints.
Skins - 38 Gints- 20. Hold on to your hats ladies n gentleman the winds of change are upon us! |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
"If your a Redskin fan, you're extremely optimistic about the state of the division......"
Thank you Tony K. Fun to think about for sure.... |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
It's not a trap game when you're the underdog. The very fact that people think this is a trap game might indicate that a) we're overestimating the Redskins, and b) we're underestimating the Giants.
This is a trap game for Skins fans who expect a win. And while I don't think a victory is necessarily unlikely, another typical prime-time humiliating blowout at the hands of a division rival is equally likely. |

We are not good enough to have any trap games. We are the underdogs in every flipping game. |

Anyone who watches pro football knows that a division game against a team that has owned us is going to be a dog fight no matter how the first two weeks looked for either team. I like our chances but this is no trap game.. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
According to Kevin Sheehan:
After week 2, the Redskins are the NFC EAST favorite..... To weird..... |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
Look, who cares if we call it a trap game or not?
This team finally got a desperately needed win, and the rest of the NFC East games this weekend make us look like we have a much better chance this year then we thought at the outset. This team has momentum, and we need to keep it, this game could define the rest of the year, and if the Skins don't go in to the Meadowlands and play like the season depends on it, it could set the tone for a bad year. I think we are all saying the same thing, we can't let up, and we need to maintain momentum. A win would be awesome, and I think the conversation about the division becomes more valid, but I just want to see them go in and play as hard as they did yesterday. |
Re: Week 3: Redskins v Giants
I am kind of glad it's a short week. I really want to see how the team handles success. This is a big early game. A win continues momentum, gives us a long break to savor two wins, and is a nationally televised game. To me, it would be a real demonstration of "culture change" if we didn't suck on national TV. If we actually win and look good doing so? phew ... not sure the team could handle the success.
It is also a chance to really set the tone before taking on the Eagles and can give us the chance to go 2-0 in the division. One game at a time though, still need to see back to back wins before thinking about the rare possibility of back to back to back games. |
