Looking ahead to the Eagles
Skins v Eagles this Sunday at 1 pm - Fed Ex
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2015/09/28/five-questions-facing-the-redskins-as-they-prepare-for-the-eagles/ Lets talk Skins v Eagles Will Desean return? Jackson did some jogging last week, and he’s expected to test his hamstring more extensively this week. A healthy return by the former Eagle would go a long way toward igniting an offense that has scored only one touchdown from more than four yards out this season. - per wash post article Are we okay at LG? looks like it. may be Long or rookie Kouandjio. **edited so as to not offend anyone, anytime, anywhere |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
Hey asshole, I'm from Philadelphia metro area. Keep your comments directed at the idiotic fans and not the people of this city. One is not at all representative of the other.
Don't get me wrong, Eagles fans as a bunch are bunch of meatheads, but your comments veered away from that and talked about the people who live in the city. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
lol lighten up francis. i also love philly. i will edit if serious.
|
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
The fans here are morons. Dealt with it my whole life. Philly can be cool tho.
That said I hope we flat out embarassi will have more thoughts later them. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I heard Lauvao was just placed on season ending IR? please god tell me this isnt true
|
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
Clean special teams, + turnover margin, limit the penalties, and it's a W.

Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
geez louise.
after last year, who would have thought lauvau would have been an integral part of our O line this year. good thing is, we have invested 2nd-4th round picks at the position over the past few years. |
I heard Lauvao was just placed on season ending IR? please god tell me this isnt true
Yep. Who would have thought at this time last year we'd be thinking of him this highly. Next man up. The one positive, one of these younger guards is going to get a lot of experience and coaching from Bill Callahan. Maybe it makes us better for next season. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I notice Lauvao in preseason seem to be stepping up and then in the first 2 games has was a standout...i saw him pull a couple times (old hogs right there). Its a shame, right when the light came on, he's gone for the season.

Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
Everyone has injuries including the Eagles. Long needs to man up.
|
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I want to punch Chip Kelly right in his fucking mouth
|
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
Redskins need to find a way to run the f*cking ball and keep the Iggles off the field. Kirk needs to be a game manager and keep the chains moving. And I hope to God that we don't have anymore ST screw ups.

Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I don't want a 'manager'. I want an executor.
Execute the game plan...don't be overly conservative, or careful, or tentative, or predictable - take it to them. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
The future is now, looking forward to what Long or Kouandjio can do.
Everyone has injuries including the Eagles. Long needs to man up.
Based on our current injury rate this season, we'll need an active roster of 113 players to finish the season..... |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
It's a huge game for obvious reasons and I believe it'll be a tough game with low scoring. I'm going skins 21 17 with a sam bradford fumble that clinches the game.
Cousins 210 yards 1 td 0 ints Jones and alf combine for 150 yards and 2 tds. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
that's 2 serious players on IR for us, which kind of sucks. hopefully we don't have Mcrib back in there getting pushed around all game.
|
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I know every team has injuries but man. DHall, Luavio (IR), Paul (IR), Ihenacho (IR), Gallette (IR), Martrell Spaight (IR), Justin Rodgers (IR), Perry Riley, Desean Jackson. That's a lot to overcome and we are only 3 weeks in. I know some of these guys come back, but several starters and key special teams guys are already gone for the year. Brutal.

Given how good our running game can be, resulting in a much better defense; we just need for Cousins is to manage the passing game. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
“It was just one of those games that turned out bad for me,” Breeland said. “All I can do is go back and refocus. I don’t get down on bad plays. I’m a corner, and I’m gonna get beat. I’ll give up some; it’s whether I make some plays. They get paid, too. It’s the nature of the game.”

He was very limited during PS, suspended week 1 (away from facilities), then week 3 had to step in to take D Halls place. For the most part, he was in good position but plays just didnt go his way. I was hoping he would continue to play aggressive and physical this year and prove last year wasnt a fluke. With Breeland and Culliver, we have w physical capable corners. That should open up options for Fewell and Barry. --------------------------------------- Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall visited a specialist and came away with the same diagnosis as the original one: He'll only miss three to four weeks with a sprained right toe, according to Redskins coach Jay Gruden. Lucky bounce and great adjustment by Randle to pull it in. Hard to be too down about it. The catch by Beckham was pretty awesome too -- and Breeland had decent position. Not many receivers can do that. Those were the Giant's two big plays -- just happened to be on Breeland. I think he'll be OK. More worried about depth. With Rodgers on IR, Amerson gone, and Hall hurt, we're really, really thin back there. I feel good about Breeland and Culliver, but we really have very little depth at this point. Not sure what Blackmon has left in the tank. Sounds like Quinton Dunbar is back -- he's intriguing to me. Great size, although little experience (obviously), but I thought did pretty well in the preseason under the circumstances. Maybe in time....? BTW, I noticed that Bacarri Rambo is playing reasonably well for the Bills. Good players around him no doubt help. But given our problems in safety over the years (and he was one of them, to be sure, while he was a Redskin), it's frustrating to see that. it'd be nice for us to take someone else's project and then turn them into quality depth. I don't recall the last time we did that. |

This week I go with the Skins .As they say "RAIN is the GREAT EQUALIZER" and it is going to be a freaking hurricane on Sunday so I believe you have the superior defense and ground game . |
This week I go with the Skins .As they say "RAIN is the GREAT EQUALIZER" and it is going to be a freaking hurricane on Sunday so I believe you have the superior defense and ground game.
Agreed. This is a winnable game if we stick with the right game plan.
And if by some shift in the weather we don't get rain this is still a winnable game. The Eagles offense, specifically passing game still hasn't clicked yet. We can't allow them to get rhythm or confidence. The best way to do that is to keep them off the field by running the ball and controlling time of possession. Its not going to be easy to run the ball. I say again. It is not going to be easy to run the ball. The Eagles run defense is actually decent. Not every run is gonna get 5 yards. There might even be some no gain or worse runs mixed in there. But they need to find away to run the ball. Imo the running game is still the best part of our team/offense. Bring the commitment/intent to run from the Miami and Rams games. Control the clock. Miami and Rams iirc we had the ball for about 38 minutes. We need to strive for that type of ball control. Sticking with the run will force them to defend and set up play action. Even if we aren't running the ball for huge chunks its still sets up play action. Many coaches believe play-action works regardless of the yards per attempt given up; provided the offense keeps running. Heck, some coaches believe in the constraint theory. The more success a defense has stopping a certain play e.g. run "action" look the more susceptible they are to the play "action" pass from that run "action" look. But I digress...Run the ball. Don't put the game on Kirk's shoulders. If the Eagles play 8 man fronts don't immediately switch to "pass mode". I think J has some good pass concepts against man. But before he dials those concepts up I would like to see Kirk started off with easy "openers" like screen passes, roll-outs, drag routes and play-action. Hopefully get Garcon involved early with those opening scripts. I know Reed is our weapon. But I feel like Reed is gonna 'win' regardless and doesn't need to get in rhythm the way Garcon might (I believe). |

Everyone keeps saying run the ball but it's just not that easy. We don't have the 91 line. Defenses know we want to run the ball and they're going to look at the Giants tape. We're going to see a lot of 8 man fronts. Now that SL is out for the year it makes things even harder. KC is going to have to hit some passing plays to back off the defenses. He's plenty capable, plays were there to be made against the Giants. KC just missed them. He can make big boy throws, we've seen him do it. He just has to man up and do it. |

Yes it will. We should have a couple days more prep time than Philly. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
Assuming it gets played, this game will be similar to the Giants game. Philly has allowed only 3.1 yards per carry. The Giants had allowed only 3 yards per carry coming into that game. Defense has to keep the Eagles from jumping ahead early and forcing the Redskins to throw 50 times. If the weather is a factor, the Eagles will probably win. Cousins battles the weather and has a rough day but the defense keeps us in the hunt.
Eagles 23 - 13 Redskins KC goes 17-29, 165 Yards, 0TD 2INT Alf/MoJo combine for 95 yards, 1TD For the record.. QB's with a worse INT % than Cousins this year: Tyrod Taylor Matthew Stafford Philip Rivers Ryan Fitzpatrick Jay Cutler Colin Kaepernick Andrew Luck |

I hear what you are saying, and perhaps that is the label he will carry for a while. However, if this team is going to get better, they will have to remove that label and allow him to execute the offensive playbook - the whole playbook - and not put limitations on him. You have to take what the defense gives you and if a defense is giving you the passing game, then that is what you exploit. When they back off, you pound them with the running game. You can't be one dimensional and win in this league. I don't care how good your defense is, and this one isn't good enough to even try that. No doubt they are better, but with all the injuries and the modest pass rush, teams are going to score points on them. If we have a 'game manager', all we are going to do is manage to lose more often than not. |

All the reports say Long has a leg up on ArieK, but they are looking at both. EDIT: Sorry, responded to LG. |

Kirk has to remove that label with his play. And to me there is nothing wrong with being a "game manager". Take the plays that are there and don't turn the ball over.
I think asking/game planning for any player to do more then they can currently handle is setting them and the team up to fail. Gameplanning for Kirk to carry the offense on his arm imo is a mistake. Kirk might become more then a game manager but right now, imo the best bet is to build our offense around our strength...the running game. Allow the passing game to be a complement to the run game not be the focal point of the offense. I don't think we can't establish an identity as a run team, which appears to be Scott's goal, with the playcalling from the Giants game. |
Re: Looking ahead to the Eagles
I actually wouldnt mind pushing this game back. You never know what can happen in the future, injuries etc but ...
that would give D Jax, Hall and Riley time to heal up. Playing games wout Desean is hurting us in many ways imo. |
I agree... Play the elements unless its lightning like crazy
Any lightning would automatically make them pause the game. Remember the preseason Baltimore game a couple years ago? I'm not a fan of moving the game but one way or another it will be played. |
