Winslow has to pay

The Browns are going to ask for some of their money back. Poor KW. Hope he hasn't spent it all!

Wonder if the Postons have to pay back as well? :)

Good for the Browns, a contact is a contract and he clearly violated some of the terms.

I do think it's fair though if they give him the opportunity to earn that money back through incentives.

I think that would be fair too let him earn that money back. I just hope that they release him and see if gibbs would give him an extensive look. I believe that he is going to be great.

When he said he "has something for us", I guess he meant he had a plan to give us something to laugh at for months to come.

hopefully he has learned. he's going to have time now to make some decisions.he could be all that and a bag of chips. but you have to show up in order for that to be so.i really liked his dad, he was special, he can be special too. but somethings are going to have to change.

Let me get this right. We told KWII he was our guy and if he was there at 5 we'd take him. He was there at 5 and we took Sean Taylor. The man got upset because HE WASN'T given the chance to be a Redskin he's an asshole? He wanted to come to Washington and was mad he didn't get to.

That said ST was the better choice because he's a better player. Im glad he's giving the money back.

No, he's an asshole because he had the balls to call out a HOF coach and our favorite team (and you're are making a HUGE assumption that KW is telling the truth about the "assurances" he was given)
He's an a-hole because he's referred to himself as a "soldier".
He's an a-hole because he's referred to himself as "the chosen one"
He's an a-hole because he's terrorized neighborhoods with kids by repeatedly doing wheelies up and down the street and ignoring the pleas of his neighbors to stop.
He's an a-hole because he was doing tricks on a motorcycle that he didn't know how to properly ride yet, before getting a license, in direct violation of specific clauses in his contract.
He's an a-hole because he expected and required someone from the Browns organization to carry his equipment and helmet for him as a rookie.

See, the fact is, he's an a-hole for so many reasons that it doesn't really matter if he was telling the truth about Gibbs or not........because at the end of the day: an a-hole is an a-hole.

All of your reasons except for ONE have to do with his motorcycle thing. I'm talking strictly about calling us out. I bet we did promise him we were going to take him, and I'm damn sure we would have if he hired different agents. He was pissed, and he called us out. So what? Would you be upset if the Redskins promised to pick you then let you slide? I don't see you mad at Randy Moss for calling out the Cowboys after the same thing happened.

I don't think I would care either way. I'm not going to be shitty about it unless I didn't get drafted.

And if THAT happened the only thing I'd have is something stinky in a brown paper bag to put on Joe Gibbs' front porch.

apparently you talked to the front office about that promise and they confirmed it right? cause what i heard is no such promise existed... though if you have a reliable source you can cite, i'd love to see it.

and he's not an asshole for wanting to be a redskin, he's an asshole for many many MANY other reasons (see spending your post draft conference badmouthing a HoF coach and calling him a liar, being a loudmouth and calling out your teammates for sucking as a rookie, insisting on playing DE too, violating his contract, choosing the postons, the soljah thing etc etc)

Daseal,

You and I usually agree (at least to a certain degree), but unfortunately I've got to disagree with certain points you made in your above post. First, as has been pointed out, it is uncertain whether Gibbs promised Winslow he'd pick him - Gibbs said no, Winslow said yes. Second, Winslow didn't care about being a Redskin, he wanted more money and to be a higher pick. Third, Winslow...I mean "The Chosen One"......I mean "The Solider".....I mean "The Warrior".....is an enormous ass. See, Exhibit A - his torn ACL. See Exhibit B - calling out his teammates and head coach in Miami. See Exhibit C - all those dumb ass monikers he gave himself.

I agree he's an ass, I just don't feel being mad for not being picked as the main reason. I'd do the same thing if I had to go to Clevland!

Daseal you just like to hate on the Skins for some reason. Anything you can think of to pin on the Skins and prove you're point that they're inept and worthless. And anything you can find to prove that those of us who are optimistic about our favorite team are a bunch of snivelling morons. I am as tired of your moaning and groaning as I was of Curmodgeon's weeks ago. What kind of fan are you anyways? Are you a secret Bovineboy lover?

I looked at this message for like 5 minutes and I still can't figure it out.

The reasons I gave for KW being and asshole are as follows:
Called out Gibbs and Skins: That happened at the draft.
"The chosen one" comment: NOTHING to do with the motorcycle accident
"Soldier comment": Said that in college, I saw the interview, and he was in the locker room, and not on a motorcycle
Terrorizing neighborhoods: Yes, that is ONE that IS about the bike.
Doing tricks: Yep, that makes TWO
Expecting someone to carry is equipment for him as a rookie: Again, unless by "equipment" and "helmet" you thought I was talking about his bike and his motorcylcle helmet (that he apparently doesn't know how to strap on), I fail to see what that has to do with the motorcycle accident.

So by my math, that would be FOUR that have NOTHING to do with the bike accident, and only TWO that do. What am I missing here?

As for the Randy Moss comment: PLEASE start a thread about Randy Moss, and I'll show you just what I think about him. I despise that child too.

Actually, we someone posted an article about Moss here a bit ago and honestly, I don't hate him nearly as much as the TOs in the world. Moss is really a gentleman off the field and a stand-up guy.

Excellently stated RF.:biggthump

It's one man's word against a child's, and he choses to believe the child's? Just doesn't make sense to me.

And, might I add, this the same person who comes to the defense of Taylor every time somebody brings up the drunk driving, because Taylor is innocent until proven guilty......and he was found innocent (and that is certainly a fair point). Yet it's ok to crucify the Skins and Gibbs and come to the adamant defense of KW, even though everything he's said is complete hearsay and has been corroborated by absolutely no proof at all. I guess Gibbs isn't entitled to the same benefit of the doubt that Taylor is? I don't know, sounds contradictory to me. The only facts we know are that KW called out our coach and our team. That's it. We KNOW nothing else, except that completely contradictory statements have been made by KW and Gibbs. Yet somehow we are supposed to buy into KW's defense of his being an ass without a shread of proof against our team?

Let me first say I didn't see the article. But here's the thing about Moss. Every now and then he gives an interview or a story comes out that makes him look like an ok guy. But a gentleman doesn't refuse to yield to a female traffic cop and push her (albeit slowly and without intent to injure) with his SUV. So, I have a hard time buying into the good stuff I hear because his actions just don't seem to back it up all the time. But again, I didn't see the article, so maybe that would have changed my mind........at least until he does the next stupid thing.

Re: Winslow has to pay

Matty - It's obvious I trust Gibbs over him, but I have a feeling there's some truth in his statements. It's not really that unusual for a team to say yeah, we'll take you -- then change their mind.

FRPLG - if you dislike my comments that much the site has a neat feature where you can ignore someone's posts. I suggest giving it a try.

I don't see how I crucified the skins here. Because I said a guy could have a valid reason to be upset doesn't mean I'm pinning down the skins at all.

Yes, I'm a huge Cowboys fan. I just enjoy going to Redskins training camp, games, watch on TV religiously, and spend half my free time here trying to get real news. Insult my views all you like, but if you want to insult me loyalty then we have a problem.

You're right, I give them a hard time, people can't understand that. I feel changes should be made, I outline what they think they are. Does that not make me a fan? Does it not make everyone on the board screaming about Spurriers schemes not a fan? Look at yourself and ask if you'd be saying the same thing if this was just an ordinary coach taking over. Now before the OMG DASEAL HATES GIBBS AND HIS PAST MEANS NOTHING type posts come up, that's not what I'm saying. However, there should be some consistancy between our criticism of players/coaches that go beyond giving Redskins a free pass for something we'd rip someone else for.

Is Winslow an asshole? Abosolutely. Was he in the right? No. Will we ever know exactly what was said, no. However, IF what Winslow says is true I can understand him being upset.

Well think about for a second though. Have you ever had to deal with a difficult situation where you feel it is in the best interest if you don't make it front page news? You might say, "everything's great" when maybe their not, but you do that in order to buy yourself time to defuse the situation. Now, I'm not saying this is exactly what happened in the Coles situation, but I don't think it was a situation where the team, namely Coach Gibbs, changed his mind. More than likely, it probably was a situation where he remained optimisitic until the point where he realized his optimism was in vain.

Daseal 05-27-2005 09:35 PM

Re: Winslow has to pay

Well, I think they were working on getting everything worked out (Coles said that before that broke he had a very productive meeting with Gibbs and was optomistic.) Then after the Danny thing and the post breaking the news everything broke down.

Not saying I blame him, it's part of the game and every coach plays it. I think it's silly to take everything a coach says as fact. They lie for a living to hide their true intentions. That's not bad, it's how you win. Keeping the opponent confused!
