How Far Can They Go

Make your predictions here, Packers game scores or how deep the Skins will Go. Predict it here, give your reasons or not, but we want predictions. Lots of em!

I am feeling pretty good about this weekend: Skins 33, Packers 24 (score closer than the game plays out)

With Seattle beating the Vikings, we go to Arizona. That's a tough one, and I think Arizona beats us. Skins 24, Cards 31

What sayeth the Mob (and what would Trample say)

Re: How Far Can They Go

I see it exactly as you do, C. A step forward in the process, we beat the Pack. But we're not hanging with the big boys just yet. 2nd round loss.

But next year... Ohhh baby fire up the bandwagon!

Vibe I get is W over packers and then done.

I will say though, the way the offense is playing right now wouldn't be surprised if they went even further...so many weapons on offense but I think not good enough/healthy enough on defense.

Beating GB for this year's team and getting to face one of the big boys in 2nd round would be a good season.

I'm gonna reach a little, I got us going 2-1.

We get past the Pack & then pull a big upset on the road.

I think getting Licht back helps to bring out the running game again.

LOOK at the talent that SM brought to the table this year? Really solid. Jay and company did a great job using it.
Cannot wait to see what they can do with another off-season...........

Re: How Far Can They Go

This is what I posted on the other wildcard thread
I think we are favored by a point over GB and we should be.How does GB lose to the Vikings at home with Teddy passing for less than a 100 yards and AP isnt a big factor either?
But GB has playoff exp, coaches have playoff exp, etc. Can Gruden and Cousins handle the pressure? Gruden doesnt need to get cute like he did with Jackson in the Dallas game.I would like him to add a few new wrinkles to the offense to show GB something different, but basically it just boils down to Cousins playing the same way he has for these last 6 games.Receivers have to hold onto the ball, cant be hitting them right in the hands and then them throwing them up in the air as in the NE game. The defense will probably give up a lot of yards, but we have been getting the turnovers,so we gotta hope that continues.
If things go like they have been,I say we win in a close game,27-24.If we have some adversity, turn the ball over a couple times, then we lose in a close one.And we have to score points when we get the turnovers!! Cant be like the 1st cowboy game

I've just looked up the weather forecast and I dont like it,looks like 80% chance of rain for saturday.Obviously thats going to affect both teams but I think rain probably helps the team thats better at running the ball.GB is better at running the ball then us,and they are better against the run.If kory starts hopefully we can reverse this

All the way, it is the NFL anyone can win on any given Sunday. The Redskins weakness is their CB's due to injury, have a solid OL (probably as good or better than AZ), got solid receivers and somehow they will find their running game. D is playing better, my man Preston Smith is making his presence felt at the right time. Main thing is, this team is confident, fired up and thriving on being disrespected. This a different team from 4 weeks ago.

I see us beating GB and then beating CAR! I think we lose to AZ in the title game though.

28- 21 against GB

I honestly think we have a shot like u said in the nfl it's all about who is hot and we are the hottest team in the nfc right now.

I think we will beat GB and move on to round two. If we had to go to Seattle and or Arz I think we would be competitve but lose the game.

Things seem to be falling into place, so you never know...(Chris Berman voice)

These threads make me nervous. Let's just enjoy the ride. This season has already been a success in my eyes, and like many have said, if we manage to win even one playoff game, it will be a HUGE success!

1 game season from here on out. I'm going hard on the kool-aid for once, I say we beat the Pack and advance to beat the Cards (and I finally get to witness a DC team in the conference finals for the first time in my life!) but we lose to the Panthers in the NFC Championship game.

Re: How Far Can They Go

I like what Blackmon has done coming off the street and starting but he is the easy to target liability. Dunbar is playing well for being a rookie converted from WR but he is also any easy target as well. Dunbar might not play this Sunday.

If Cary Williams and Blackmon both see the field at the same time .... thats a really weak secondary. I would feel so much better w a healthy culliver in there w bree.

28th - total defense (yards)
25th - pass d
26th - run d
17th - pts allowed

if we didnt have 26 timely takeaways on D, we would be even lower. if the offense didnt control the ball to put us 6th in TOP, our D numbers are even worse. The run D has gotten a lot better w mason/compton in there but this D is vulnerable.

I picked us to beat the pack but its iffy imo. The pack have the least explosive offense in the league over the past 5 games or so but our D is suspect.

Re: How Far Can They Go

Why not!

This week: I think the offense will run the ball with success against GB, control the clock, and hit a few big plays. Defense will do a decent job stopping the run, and make Aaron Rodgers uncomfortable, but he's still good for a couple big plays.

Redskins 27
Packers 20

Next week against Arizona: Redskins win the turnover battle, offense continues to roll, and they get a big play on special teams to surprise the Cardinals.

Redskins 33
Cardinals 30

The following week against Seattle (at home): Redskins avenge the last three playoff losses with a blowout win against the Seahawks. Starters rest in the 4th quarter.

Redskins 38
Seahawks 19

February 7th: Champs!

Being in the playoffs is like a lottery ticket. It might be mathematically foolish to get your hopes up that you'll win, but if you don't buy a ticket you can't even dream of the ultimate prize.

We've got a chance, you never know!

Re: How Far Can They Go

Im with Matty. Look at what the Giants did twice in the last few years? There is not team that even remotely resembles that Pats team n they got beat. Every team has looked like absolute crap recently that is one of the top seeds. Those games were big games too. The Steelers almost threw their post season away against a terrible Ravens team. The Panthers threw away their chance at an undefeated season against a terrible Falcons team. The Seahawks got beat by the dang Rams! The Cards got torched last week and have looked piss poor lately. We will beat the Packers. You can bank on that. Than we will probably play the Panthers. Cousins has a nasty habit of playing really well the second time around or after he effs up. Second time he played Dallas D was a big FU. Second time he played the Gints was a big FU. This team has as bright a future as any rite now it appears but there is no way they are content with a division title. They are rollin rite now and I think they have their sights set on a big finish here folks. Sky is the limit rite now. Im trying to avoid using the S word but freakin HTTR!

The Redskins are 9-7 and lost to falcons in OT and cowboys by 3 ..could have been 11-5..they are better than the record indicates ..There is no reason why the Skins can't beat the packers at Fed ex. I say 31-30 skins take it to next round!!!

Every year there's always one playoff team that makes a small run, either to a conference championship game or the SB. Why not us? Nobody expects us to do it.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-08-2016 09:20 AM

Re: How Far Can They Go

We're arguably the hottest team in the league right now. Keep that momentum and honestly it wouldn't shock me to see us win at least two games.

NoCalHail 01-08-2016 10:45 AM

Re: How Far Can They Go

It is hard to say because either 2nd round matchup is going to be tough. I am leaning towards saying they would have a better chance against Carolina because of how they matchup. The defense has come up big with all the fill-ins and subs and injury replacements but the Cardinals have a lot of weapons and firepower and I just think they would be able to get over on our defense in the passing game unless we found a way to get after Palmer on a more consistent basis than our pass rush usually does.

That said, I think the match up with the Packers is the one game I honestly feel comfortable in saying we should be favored in.

Re: How Far Can They Go

I love Jackson. You think back to the Posse and Art is obviously the one who went to the HOF, and deservedly so because he was so consistent and dependable. But ask teams facing the Redskins and they told you man for man that it was Gary Clark that scared them most. Parcells in particular thought that.

The speed to take the top off the defense is the ultimate threat. He still has a few good years left in him, he's 29. Gotta keep him.

NoCalHail 01-08-2016 12:18 PM

Re: How Far Can They Go

Right and what a lot of people fail to see is that even when Jackson isn't catching 7-8 balls a game, it is the fact that coverage always has to be shifted his way that helps create all the wide open targets underneath. When you see Jordan Reed one on one juking defenders out of their ankles it's because defenders are so worried about Jackson getting wide open downfield.

I also think Crowder may be a "secret" weapon in the playoffs as he is not talked about much but has shown some signs late in the season that he is going to be legit in the slot. If teams have no choice but to leave him one on one? He has some wheels on him too!

I feel so weird about this maybe because it's elimination do or die playoff time.

My head says the skins should take care of packers but I'm worried for some reason...can't point to what it is though. Maybe just Green Bay getting trashed more than usual in media?

It's because there's this nagging voice in the back of your head that keeps saying "but we've been bad for so long, this can't all of a sudden be for real."

That and Aaron Rodgers is on the other side. But believe it brother, Kirk has made the leap.

We still might lose, because yeah I mean it's Aaron Rodgers who might be the GOAT when his career is finished, but tell that nagging voice to STFU because we're finally headed for genuine contention.

Re: How Far Can They Go

No need to fear GB, despite what the talking heads want you to believe. They just haven't been right on offense all year. They're not going to suddenly put it back together either. Their struggles are real.
