Feel like Dline will be the pick

Billings, Reed, Robinson, Chris Jones....also watch this guy: Jonathan Bullard Draft Profile – NFL.com

I also think Safety could get a look tonight.

I think we need bpa on Front 7 at our pick. We need it bad. Id trade up before I would trade back. I know its strange territory but we are morphing quickly from a team with a ton of holes to fill into a team that is a few pieces away from being really good.

Really ? we still have "a ton of holes"

They need 2 or 3 DL, ILB, 2 Safeties, C, RB, QB

No team is two or three deep across the board. Lol. Though it would be nice. DL, ILB are needs. Big time. We have plenty of picks left to hit on both. We can wait on a project QB. RB can be addressed late. If we hit on a DL and/or ILB coupled with Norman than that should take alot of heat off of the S position. I disagree about having a ton of holes. Every team in the league rite now has atleast 5 positions on their team they could improve vastly on.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft (2nd and 3rd round) Day 2

Looking at Mayocks top 100 players there are 12 DTs left.

So we should have a decent shot at a few of them.

I'm gonna guess Hassan Ridgeway in the 2nd.

Alternates (other than a DT):

Vonn Bell - S
Nick Martin - C
Kentrell Brothers - ILB
Nick Vannett - TE <<< This guy is basically another OL at six foot six inches.
CJ Prosise - RB

If Cody Whitehair is still sitting there he would be hard to pass up.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft (2nd and 3rd round) Day 2

My guess is it will be defense for the most part the rest of the weekend, DL, ILB, S. I'm convinced that they are not going to reach for a need though. It will probably be best player available, and if that BPA is not a need, trades will occur.

That being said, I would be surprised if we don't see at least two of the remaining picks used on O-line, QB and/or TE.

QB, WR, and TE are the only positions they are two deep. There are plenty of starting positions open now - 2 DL, 2 ILB, 2 S, C, G, RB.... as well as 2nd string spots

Id say CB is set too. Dont forget about Dunbar - he played really well last year.
I agree 100% though with your position listing as far as what we need. After this draft those holes will shrink. Than there is always the guy or two that comes out of nowhere or has a bounce back year. So when this roster is finally set I think we might see at most 3-4 positions that we need help at. Which, imo, is far from alot of holes. Its normal. Seriously look at every team in the league and you will find 3-5 starters that are sub par.
My original point was that I would rather get an impact playet where we stand now than trade back for what might amount to just acquiring bodies.
This is not the team from the last 20 years that you go " damn we are several drafts away from competing". Lol. A couple key pieces taken care of from your spot on list of deficiencies and we can be as good as anybody. What makes teams great is rarely that they have good starters and quality depth across the board. Its that their studs play well enough to make up for the holes.

No thanks on Jack, he possibly needs microfracture surgery on his knee. Most guys that have that procedure done are out of sports within a few years.

Not sure about Ragland either. He has a red flag too now with the report of an enlarged aorta. Turns out that is why he slipped out of the first.

Yeah i was just throwing the big names out there. I actually totally agree with Jack. That injury scares me. If Ragland falls to us Id take him in a second. Hey dont we want our guys to play with alot of heart?

If we are looking in terms of need then imo:

1. DT
2. FS
3. RB

But McC aint bout that "need" life

Yet, somehow, we'll end up addressing our need areas before the draft is over. Another draft and yet another amazing coincidental matching of BPA to need.

In the NFL, drafting BPA is like finding Bigfoot: A lot of people believe it exists but there's no proof that anyone has actually seen it.

For JACKKKKK, I'm just so sure of it. Even if he can only play 3-4 years, they'd have a top 5 prospect, yet again, for next to nothing.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft (2nd and 3rd round) Day 2

well WR is actually a need, just not immediately. pg and dj could both be gone in two years and wrs can take a while to get going. crowder contributed pretty quickly, but they also weren't asking him to be a #1 or take double coverage or do anything super drastic.

if doctsun steps up, then that's at least $15m saved against the cap, with the big money pushed out into 2020 or beyond.

Per schefter:
Dr. James Andrews, who examined Myles Jack in December, told the UCLA LB today that he does not need micro-fracture surgery. Cowboys trying to move up to possibly snag him.

I like it, but argh, when are we going to start taking some defensive players? I hate to pick for need, but do we just start taking them in the third and hope they work out? Our run defense is total shit and I'm positive we'll miss Pot Roast more than we thought if we don't take someone soon...

I also think he is the first guy off the board tonight.

I think Billings is a guy that possibly could be there when we pick. Big run stuffer. Its what we need. Im thinking about last season and getting gashed over and over and over again by the run. Making back ups look like effing Walter Payton. Plug that hole tonite. Plug it up.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft (2nd and 3rd round) Day 2

I love the split between the 1st round and the 2nd round. I think it gives an advantage to teams with stronger/less impulsive GM's (like SM). And adds intrigue to these rounds.

As for our needs, I am just enjoying seeing SM look at the big picture and actually build a sustainable team.

Everytime the commish stops talking, they stop booing. I sont mind it at all, and Eisen keeps laughing at them its quite comical. Fuck goodell..... big gamble by dallas yes, happy for Smith tho. Same with Jags and Jack, if he's healthy they may have gotten a big steal and just upgraded the D greatly in 2 picks. Plus fowler coming back? Watch out for that defense wow.
