rams postgame
First off, hate off to the rams, they are much improved overall.. Goff will be a good QB and that DLINE is nasty.
GAMEBALLS CT- Beast Defense overall was good again, love the fight. Norman is worth every penny. OLine was better today Run game was good KIrk for that GW drive very nice. |
Re: rams postgame
How about Grant? Without that catch we don’t win.

yep for sure Grant as well. |
Re: rams postgame
They ran the ball more than 10 times....imagine that.
I saw improved blocking from o-line, TE's and WR's. Gruden threw it twice when when we were first and goal when we were ahead 13-0. He nearly blew it. |
Re: rams postgame
Big props to Gruden for sticking to the run even when it wasn't going anywhere, Perine eventually got something going
|
Re: rams postgame
Perine is a stud he just needs to get his reps
|
Re: rams postgame
So no 0-4?
|

1 -3 |

Not 100% sure about that |
Re: rams postgame
39 rushes for 229 yards, I'd say keep doing it cause the this bullshit I've seen from outside receivers tp, grant, and doctson is terrible. Sure, nice route by grant to end it. Cousins was a heap of trash for most the day...no help from his receiving crew outside of crowder 6-6 targets for 48 yards, but he is an inside guy...like Reed.
What can you say about the defense through 2 games...certainly more heart than the offense. Solid play vs the run and I want to highlight the play of our corners...Bree, Norman and fuller have been stellar. I like what I'm seeing from the group. Causing turnovers too. Great win, but if I see cousins or gruden call 2 fades back to back withend the 5 yard goal to go.....fuckin horrible o-calling there. The margin is too close for us to be that stupid twice in a row. |

He just reminds you of that back that keeps getting stronger and those 3 yard gains turn into 15 yard gains |
Re: rams postgame
Great confidence builder for perine...

Re: rams postgame
Jay Gruden said Rob Kelley has a possible fractured rib. It caused him to leave the game in the first half.
-per Keim Awe shit. |
Jay Gruden said Rob Kelley has a possible fractured rib. It caused him to leave the game in the first half.
-per Keim Awe shit.
man, just when Fat Rob was picking up steam...but Perine looked tough today & showed improvement. Maybe Mack Brown gets his shots as well to keep the running game going. Maybe Jay is finally starting to see that the offense can help our D by grinding out a few first downs. |
Re: rams postgame
Gruden called a great game..... I'm happy he called the run so much....Chris Thompson is becoming a great threat that defenses are going to have to worry about...
|
Re: rams postgame
Too bad about fat Rob -- hope he's OK and heals quickly.
I will say, however, I have a feeling Mack Brown is going to get elevated and light it up. Has real speed and isn't afraid to lower a shoulder either. He and Perine with CT as our 3rd down back ought to be solid. Funny how this year, our D seems to be setting the tone and carrying us. Man, we are missing Garcon and DJax -- anyone who says otherwise is crazy. Nice to see Grant with a big catch when it counted, but not having the kind of WR production we've grown used to is frustrating. Happy to see some of the guys who were banged up (Moses, Norman, Brown) gut it out. Hopefully, they can use this as a confidence builder and keep improving. The Eagles got handled today, as did Dallas. And the Giants looked worse than we did week 1. Division is up for grabs, folks. What impressed me the most today -- and I didn't expect it -- was how we schemed to counter the speed of the Rams D. Delayed handoffs up the gut once pressure was past worked very well, as did the intermediate stuff with WRs clearing out. It was a decent game plan, it would seem, and we stuck to it. |
Re: rams postgame
I guess now that we won we are going to super bowl ! One game at a time.. Very nice win GLAD to see it,,Playcalling was way better..IF Thompson makes that catch we could have put it away earlier. tough games coming up.schedule is brutal.ONE HUGE QUESTION...WHY do we insist on the fade route..have we ever completed one?? they are not even close..just saying! also you guys can pile on me for my 0-4 prediction..but i still think 6 -8 wins is more realistic than 10 plus wins.

Re: rams postgame
Hell of a game today really hard to find bad things to say about this one. I cant say enough about this defence, just fantastic. Last year with 1:30 left on the clock our defense would give up yards like crazy. Now we are getting turnovers in critical spots. As for the offense, it seems to me that they are a wheel that needs to pick up speed. I thin they will get better and better as the season goes on.

Re: rams postgame
Positives - run game, Cousins on game winning drive, overall defensive play
Negatives - Cousins before that drive, big play given up by defense. They stop giving up those and they're really onto something. |
Re: rams postgame
Pryor will get there soon, he's got too much raw talent. Crowder looked good today

Props to the rookie Montae Nicholson also, he had some solid plays.

Re: rams postgame
Idk how the game plan changed, but I enjoying seeing Fat Rob run into open space today vs. run into the back of his o-linemen for 2 yards.
Takeaways for me: Great commitment by Gruden for sticking to the run today, it paid off in the end. Maybe they could start to use a little more play action once the d adjusts and puts 8 in the box though, but then again maybe we didn't because Kirk doesn't trust Pryor/Grant. Grant only made 1 play today, but that was a hell of a play, way to make it count. Great job by our depth guys stepping up, seemed like it was a revolving door of injury today. Hope Fat Rob isn't out too long. Clutch play by Mason at the end there, reading the inexperienced qb's eyes and not even allowing them the chance to gain a little momentum. Jay Gruden, idk why you have such a hard on for the fade, but it cost us 7 points in the first q and a chance to blow the game open. Idk that we've converted a single one of those in your years, you need to abandon that shit until Kirk/whoever he trusts can consistently execute in practice. McVay gets some respek from me, everything I saw from Goff indicated he was doomed last year and he was very solid until the end, minus the strip sack from Kerrigan where he didn't realize the pocket was collapsing. Also respek for Todd Gurley, I know he's cooled off since the hot start to his career but I trust McVay will be able to turn it around for him again. Shouts out to the o-line for really stepping up today against a good Rams defensive front. Lauvao in particular, I still don't think he can do it consistently but he shut me up today. J.No gets a shoutout for twice punching the ball out from Todd Gurley, I wanted one of these ball punchers for years that really knows how to punch balls and now we have one. I suspect it will take some time for Kirk and whoever his top two receivers end up being to gel, but it ain't a good look for Pryor to have 3 drops in 2 games. Hard for a qb to trust you when you are only consistent at dropping the ball. I hope for Pryor's sake it's just growing pains and he learns to look the ball in his hands. He's got the talent, if he can't put it together by the end of the year his career here won't last long. |

Dude with all these injuries, I'm really hoping we can add a starter in Cravens |
Re: rams postgame
Damn, not sure how much popping your shoulder back into the joint hurts but props to Foster for fighting through it to stay in the game. Hope the rest of our guys are ok or in Fat Rob's case aren't out too long.
I also forgot to give a shoutout for playing a home game in LA today. I could hear the support when we were scoring td's. Way to rep us in LA Skins fans. |
Re: rams postgame
Outside of the fade calls I thought Gruden called a great game. He must have looked at the game film from the last time we played the Rams. For now that needs to be the game plan. Stay committed to the run.
Not sure why there's so much hate for KC in the game thread. He and the wr's are obviously not in sync. He missed some but he also hit some and had a flat out dropped possible td to Thompson. He managed the game and didn't turn the ball over. That was good enough today. D is improved. Some of the guys like Smith are just playing better than they were last year. |
Re: rams postgame
The way we came out and dominated in the trenches it should have been over by half. Still major red zone issues. It is actually getting weird at this point. We get inside the 20 and I panic. A win is a win though. Hell these guys beat the Niners last week by like 50? Niners lost to Seattle by 3 today? I know that means nothing but I am trying to get a handle on this team. The D looks much better especially safety and corners. Maybe Gruden learned how valuable running the fucking ball can be today. Honestly I can see 4-12 in this teams future. I can also see 10-6. Primetime next week - at least we won't be 0-3.

At that point the Rams looked terrible and completely beaten. The Skins were poised to go up big and have a potential blow out. Instead the Skins throw 2 terrible passes, and settle for a FG, the Rams pop a big play and the game ends up going down to the wire. I guess JG called a good game but to me those two lousy calls early in the game turned what should have been an easy win into a nail-biter. They get away with that vs a lousy Rams team but not against better teams. |
Re: rams postgame
Matchup for matchup I had us down to win this one and bounce back after last weeks loss.
It didn't look how I thought it would offensively beside the obvious battle with theyre mean front 8. Trent would rather give up a hold I saw on one play rather than let cousins get blasted by Aaron Donald. on to Oakland. Which is more of a defensive test. Kirk doesn't seem to be in shootout mode yet but the guy is always ready to light it up. Might be another slow one for the offense. |
Re: rams postgame
still got loads of nd ,should find ways to get thompson the ball more.i still think we will not win more than 5 or 6 games.rams missed on big plays other teams won,t.why did we give moses money to stay jere,he is awful.pryor needs to work with cousins more.he just cant click with him.

Re: rams postgame
With struggling of our outside WR and Cousins to get on the same page, we must continue to bring those guys along but we must form the passing attack around getting our biggest threats the ball: Thompson, Crowder and Reed. Id like to see all 3 in passing formations going forward
|
Re: rams postgame
Thought it was a great game yesterday. Defense HAS to fix some of those break-downs because otherwise they have been looking really damn good. Running game? Where has THAT been the past few seasons? All RBs ran like they gave an F and it showed. CT especially.
I want to see more of Crowder doing those screens and flare outs, because that's where he thrives. I'm truly concerned about our WRs though. Doctson has to get his shit together. |
Re: rams postgame
Kirk and TP just need more time, it'll get there eventually.

Doctson def needs to get his shit together, but we still need guys like Grant/Pryor on the field to pull coverage away from our primaries right now. If nothing else they can be decoys at least. Eventually teams will get wise and throw more coverage to guys like CT and Crowder, and when that happens our other guys are going to have to step up. |
Re: rams postgame
O line was getting a great surge. Some big holes.
Secondary is a legit strength. Kupp (3 catches - 33 yds), Watkins (2-30), Woods (1-8, Austin (1-5). Except for that 70 yard blown coverage play for TE Everett, secondary is shutting things down. Zach Brown had 10 tackles. Resign him if he will take reasonable money. Kerrigan made 1 play, the strip sack. Jonathan Allen also was credited with 1 tackle. Tress Way had 4 punts, 51 yd avg, 2 inside the 20, long of 62. Great job. I feel like this is 2015 Kirk. Not 100% comfortable yet, trying not to make a mistake vs making a big play. No trust to take down field shots. Great job on the game winning drive. great job to punch it in for a TD. Clutch late. |
Re: rams postgame
Any win is a good game. With that said:
- We had continuing breakdowns on D at critical moments. - On offense, it was almost as if said to himself "I'll show them, I'll run the ball every damn down." Look, I am as firm a believer in the run game as the next old fart. However, after running on 1st down every series of the game, somewhere in the 3rd or 4th, a first down play-action would have been nice. - Our first three trips to the RZ resulted in ONE touchdown. On D, we could not get them off the field consistently. Both sides of the ball kept letting the Rams back into the game. This game did not need to be this close. It should not have come down to the that last TD. And, before you say "they are pros too," I accept that. However, it was our breakdowns that kept them in the game. Against a better team, this would have been a loss. Again, any win is a good game. Further, there was some progress and the team showed good fight. The commitment to the running game was great - let's see if Gruden stays committed. Next week is going to be a much much more difficult test offensively and defensively. |
Re: rams postgame
Matt ioannidis and Allen have been the best dlineman so far this year....
Our cb play has been effing great |
rams postgame
I agree with JR. Gruden is either in one extreme or the other. Run or pass to the point of predictability. He just doesn't seem capable of out thinking opposing coaches.
