Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Great test...glad its here and not where ever Oakland is playing these days.
Our Corner play has been outstanding this year...great test vs Carr Crabtree and Cooper. Probably the best QB-WR-WR set up in the game? Beast mode is back and playing a solid level. Their defense hasn't had a good test yet...so on the road vs us should be a solid barometer. To me, its all about the passing game...can we finally get it together? and can we put up enough defense in to limit theirs. I know couple people going to this one...gonna be rocking. Like Paul McCartney said "I gotta feeling, a feeling deep inside oh yeah...that's right" Skins 29-27 |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Man this is a tough test for us..I will say We looked better vs Rams but this aint the Rams! Raiders 35 Redskins 31 ..but I hope I am wrong!

Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
If Cousins thinks he’s worth Carr’s contract #’s, then he’s going to have to prove it on Sunday night at home.
|
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
I think we finally shake the Primetime curse for good! That's a hard trip for Oakland and it's a night game. They are a damn good team but the def isn't that great.
Skins win a good game 29-27. |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
This is a primetime game at home?
Hello ass whipping |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Stop Crabtree and Cooper. That would be my main focus as defensive coordinator. Make their other guys beat us. And no big plays to Patterson!
We're going to need to score at least 28 to win. Cousins better be ready to ball out. Hate predicting against my team, so I'll lie to myself and everyone, 30-24 Skins. |

Don't put contract pressure on him, he will lay an egg. Still worry about the Skins in Primetime. If the players are in it for 4 quarters, we will win. A slow start, or bad KC and we lose. Let's hope this is the start of something good. Skins 32 Raiders 27 |

If we can pound the rock well like last week we'll have a good shot. Don't think we can hang if it becomes a shoot-out. Keep it close and ugly.

Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Per Ian Rapport:
Redskins ILB Mason Foster has been diagnosed with a separated shoulder. He's getting a second opinion, but Foster is expected to sit Week 3 against the Raiders on Sunday night. Kinda stings...We should hear about injuries from Jay later today, but this would be disappointing. I imagine Spaight would get the start.... |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Spaight seemed reallllllly overwhelmed last year. Athletically I think he'll be fine. Just needs to be in the right place.
|
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Foster gets big time respect for coming back and playing. Same for Norman only missing a snap or so for his a/c separation. He really jammed that arm directly into the ground. Reed came back and played through pain as well. Moses played through pain.
Hustle and commitment are there. If the passing game with the receivers starts to mesh and we go on those long 10+ play drives like we did last year, I think we can control this game and have a 50/50 chance. With an offense like the raiders, best defense is winning the time of possession. Win TOP and keep raiders 3rd down conversion to less than 50%, we should win. Skins 31 Raiders 20 Going Homer on this one a bit. |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Per Keim and Cooley about Doctson...said after reviewing All-22 vs the Rams, Doctson big play opportunities were there. Cousins didn't see it or chose not to throw.
*sigh* Can these 2 get on the same effing page? |

Oh great: Offensive Line of the Week: Raiders unit utterly dominates Jets - NFL.com
Of course, our line was pretty solid last week too, as acknowledged here. Man, the Raiders are playing well right now. But we're not the lowly Jets or the Titans (who they only beat by 10 in one of the most statistically even matches I can recall -- check it out: Watch Oakland Raiders vs. Tennessee Titans [09/10/2017] - NFL.com). This seems like it will be a tight game. I really hope that our air attack can get back on track. The Raiders can be had over the middle -- a friend of mine who is a huge Raiders fan is really worried about that given Reed and Crowder. I think we need to work the middle and pound the rock. Keep the ball away from the Raiders offense. |

*sigh* Can these 2 get on the same effing page?
There was one play where Doc and another wr both ran post routes and both were easy td passes. All he had to do was lay it out there, especially to Doc, easy 70 yard td and he already pre determined where he was going and threw it underneath. I think Sun KC was playing not to lose instead of playing to win. It ain't gonna be good enough against Oak cause they're going to score. KC is going to have to make some plays and score TD's if we're going to win. |

Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
We need to score early and get a lead so we can win the TOP battle and pound the rock.
I hope Kirk can carry his performance from the game winning drive last Sunday and keep playing that way. Given that the o-line did a good job against a strong D-line and we had a running game, I feel that Kirk has no excuses for a poor performance. Big test for all aspects of the team. While I would like for the team to go 2-0 in the next two, I don't think that is realistic. Winning at home against a playoff team would be huge, given that we go to Arrowhead the following week to play a Super Bowl contender the following week. |

Seeing Scherff and Moses pulling around on that counter trey brings a tear to my eye. And watch the end of that run the way Scherff looks to just finish a dude. It's like he's driving a Ford Superduty and he sees a deer run in front of him, but instead of braking he accelerates to see how big a splatter he can make. Scherff and Trent are easily my two favorite Redskins. |

Loved seeing Lauvau securing blocks and getting down field. Long held his own. Of course, these were cherry picked plays of the run game working at its best. |

Who on the team "breaks out" this weekend with a big game?
Im gonna call TP breaking out...100 yards Receiving 1 TD. who you got? |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Feels like Pryor needs a confidence builder like taking a deep one to the house. He's due.
Who on the team "breaks out" this weekend with a big game?

This one becomes a QB duel and I'm going out on the limb to say Cousins wins it. 300 yards and 3 TDs. It'd be ridiculous to say Trent Williams is a break out. But I say he shuts down Khalil Mack in prime time and everyone in America goes whoa, who's 71? No sacks for Mack. |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
my offensive breakout player guess - Samaje Perine
he should get 15+ carries w Kelley out. defensive -- z brown, 10 tackles 1 int, 1 ff |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
If you compare the first two opponents, I would say the Skins have had the tougher matchups across the board, so I'm not all that enamored with the "undefeated" Raiders. They are definitely a good team, but how good they are is yet to be determined. This game will provide us a better understanding of where both of these teams really are.
Being at home must count for something, but the whole primetime thing worries me. My gut tells me that the offense will pick up where they left off and the defense will be more than solid. Hope that's true and it's enough to get it done. |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Breakout guys: D - Fuller, O - Doctson (go ahead and roll your eyes).
On a side note, I absolutely love that Jonathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis led the D Line in snaps last week. |

And at such a needed position. It makes for tremendous depth on the line. When we can rotate in five guys between Allen, Ioannidis, McGee, Hood, and McClain it keeps everybody fresh. But yeah it's a good sign that it's the young guys leading the way. Fuller, also with a good leap from year 1 to year 2. Huge. |
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Cousins throws a TD to Grant in the 2cnd game and that is a confidence booster?? ..what about his demands for like 25 million per year!! He doesn't sound like a man without confidence to me.
|
Re: Raiders Vs Skins Pregame Thread
Two different situations. In the contract situation he knows he had the upper hand because of the way that the franchise tag played out. On the field he still has to gain confidence in his receivers because they're a new group and in the play-calling which
is new and after throwing an interception in the Red Zone the first week he needed confidence in the Red Zone of his own. |
