Redskins free agent signings 2018
Free agency is here folks and it starts with a bang!!!
#Redskins bringing back Dustin Hopkins. This was one of the deals I fully expected to get done. Good guy and strong leg. That's the kind of young kicker to develop, which the skins havent done for years JP FINLAY |

Is it naive to hope Sherman under the market deal could lower other FA CBs contracts a little bit? Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Brown is a must, Breeland would be nice too. As far as non Redskins, Badger is by far the 1st on my list, he's a game changing safety that is rare to have. On offense I'd like to sign a Guard if possible and maybe WR (Moncrief)

Mathieu wasn't released though. |

Some have said he could be, or that he could be trade bait. |

Washington placed 2nd-round tender on OT Ty Nsekhe, per source.

Basically guarantees he's staying. |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
If it does not work with Brown there are several other decent ILB's in free agency: Navorro Bowman, Nigel Bradham, Anthony Hitchens, Paul Posluszny, Tahir Whitehead and Avery Williamson.

I'd add Demario Davis to the list! 135 tackles last year (6th in the league, ahead of all the guys you named), 87.3 PFF grade, at 29 years old (same as Bowman) he should still have at least 3/4 really good years left in the tank... Might be less expensive than Bowman because he's less of a known name, (maybe because he only played for the Jets and the Browns)... that's a signing I'd like ! |

There are several good free agents this year and a fairly good draft. Our Front Office needs to step it up. I miss the days we had Bobby Beathard and Charlie Casserly running our front office. Back then we used to draft starters like Clint Didier in the 12th round, Charlie Brown in the 8th round and Daryl Grant in the 9th round. |

This may very well be the reason why they haven't been more agressive in resigning Zach Brown. If he wants 10M+, we'd be better off paying that to somebody who can cover consistently. But maybe the amount of quality ILBs available will bring the market down and we can resign him to a more reasonable price! |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
FWIW: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will visit the Redskins today as @RapSheet reported earlier. DRC played in the slot the last two years with NYG. Skins want a slot guy; Aaron Colvin one to watch once FA begins.
He also says P Rich is still our top wr target |

He also says P Rich is still our top wr target
I'd like us very to sign Richardson. Not sure what to think of DRC visiting us though... does this mean they're done trying to keep Bree ? Then if Moreau is gonna start outside, couldn't we sign a younger guy or even draft a guy and start him in the slot ? Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |
I'd imagine Bree is going to be gone if we sign a CB, Moreau will most likely be the #2
I understand it's hard to spend 25M+ on two corner backs, but I hate it when guys we drafted ball out and we let them go.
If Moreau is the real deal, good. Maybe a veteran guy like DRC on a 2 years deal helping develop his replacement (that we would draft) is a smart solution... I just want the Skins to target playmakers at WR and at the very least one of the following positions: DT/RB/LG. No McClainification of this roster anymore! Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
With Anthony Hitchens getting $9M per year from the Chiefs, the Redskins would be right to let Zach Brown go. That price is too high for a MLB, unless it's Keuchley. I'd rather see them pump cap resources into the defensive line which would take pressure off the MLB spot. If I'm them, I wait patiently deep into free agency and snatch up the leftovers at MLB. I wouldn't be as patient at the DL spot, I'd pay what it takes to get one of the big guns.

He would, if you can get his price down to a palatable spot. I'm shocked what Hitchens is getting from KC. Of course I'm also shocked at what they're paying for Sammy Watkins. The Chiefs don't seem to GAF about the cost at the moment. |

There are a ton of really good MLBs available in FA this year. Ones than should cover better than Brown too. Brown should have been signed long term last year, but shouldn't be signed at 10M/y. I'm also excited to see Zach Vigil get in the mix behind a healthy and improved DL. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

Good post Schneed! I'm certainly disappointed we're not retaining Brown, but we can't afford to pump that much money into that position. |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Expectation around the league from multiple personnel execs is that former #Seahawks WR Paul Richardson will wind up signing a deal later this week w/ the #Redskins.
Coming out of the combine, Redskins were looking to add a "speed" WR to line up on the other side of Josh Doctson Looks like it could be a done deal |
Good post Schneed! I'm certainly disappointed we're not retaining Brown, but we can't afford to pump that much money into that position.
I personnaly wouldn't mind paying a signal caller of the defense 10M+.
I even think ILB is a quite underpaid position, given how you must know everybody's assignment on every play and have to react differently to every offensive formation (while a corner doesn't have to know if the DLs are stunting or not...). But to earn that you have to be able to defend the run AND the pass! Brown hasn't shown he can do both. I'm sure he could though. Honestly I do hope we are patient... and maybe we end up resigning Brown at 8M. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Mike Garafalo on Twitter:
Redskins are expected to sign WR Paul Richardson to a five-year, $40 million deal with $20 million in guarantees, sources say.
https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/973607307715252225?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Sorely needed. Price is acceptable to me. Now Reed and Doctson will actually have some room underneath. There was only one DeSean Jackson but this guy threatens the defense in the same way - if he's on the field they have to honor his speed. |

Happy to have P Rich, he's a good number 2. Now Crowder can excel in the slot again and hopefully Doc makes that step |

Now no need to draft a WR imo, we have enough pass catchers. RB G LB Are the big needs |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Nice, that's who I wanted all along, for 2 reasons. He gives us exactly what we need and his pricetag was not gonna climb as high as some of the other WRs.
This is gonna be our Pierre Garcon Signing 2.0. I'm pumped. |

Haha. Well hopefully we shore up the LG position, the rest of the O-line comes in healthy, and we get a running game going, or it will be the same thing here with Alex Smith.
