Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Its here!
1. Hope Alex Smith doesnt need time to warm up like Cousins needed. He shouldn't, but more concerned the WR core will. Someone from the WR needs to emerge quickly. 2. Chris Thompson and Jordan Reed...no play during the Preseason...2 HUGE factors on Offense that we need to win. Hope they ready. 3. Must win week 1? I think the Cards could be an OK team this season but not a playoff team...This on paper should be a win. With the slow starts in the past and a pending schedule that gets rougher as the season goes on....We need this one, NFC game too! 4. Cards turnover defense this preseason has been scary...we brought Smith here to protect the ball. On the road, we cant turn it over. This could make or break this game. 5. AP vs his old team. I think we could have an advantage here..Hoping for a big debut. Skins 26 Cards 20 |

Double code red...

Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I'll chalk this one up as a loss as we'll start slow like always under Gruden. A cross country trip is always tough and we'll see sloppy tackling by the LB's and secondary, clock mismanagement and pissed away timeouts. I just question whether Gruden will have this team ready to play. I do hope that our d-line can and should be able to make some plays. If we're to win they have to get after china doll Bradford. I just see Johnson as the difference. He's a great player which we have no answer for, especially out of the backfield.

Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Also Fitzgerald is in the slot, who's going to cover him?
|
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
The Cards have many more question marks, the only thing they have going for them is being at home.

Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I'm not the least bit concerned about Alex, Chris, Jordan, and Adrian playing well right out of the chute. Those guys were born ready.
As for the Cards turnover defense, just keep Perine on the bench. I'm not making a joke about this. He could kill our chances for a win with an inopportune fumble. Let's see if Gruden is smart enough to avoid trouble by not risking a Perine fumble. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Everything in our recent history says we lose this game in heartbreaking fashion, regardless of the stats, position strengths, ability of individual players.
I will watch it anyways, and hope the Skins and Gruden get past the Week 1 blues. |

I'm more worried about David Johnson running wild. Those big guys on the DLine are not ready to go 4 quarters. We might see a total defensive collapse in the second half. |

Cards Oline isn't that great. Im serious about Manusky...there less excuse for him versus Jay and the Offense. We have the talent and its healthy especially in the front 7. When it comes to Performance on Defense...Preston Smith has no more fuckin excuses...he has the guys around him that should lift his game. Everybody has stated he is the man....prove it |

Those big guys on the DLine are not ready to go 4 quarters. We might see a total defensive collapse in the second half.
I think that's where Settle's preseason performance can actually help us. He played a LOT of snaps, and should be solid in rotation. It may be best off having him play near the full game with Payne, Ionaidis and Allen all rotating around him. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I think we win this one 24 to 17. Slow start by both teams, we then take the lead early in the second half, and give away one stupid TD in the 4th on blown coverage/missed tackles.
One thing I hate seeing on the depth chart: Jamison Crowder will be returning punts? ... Don't do that to us. Don't that to him... |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
With the QB drama in the rear-view mirror I think the Skins come out strong.
Skins 20 Cards 17 |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I think we are all shocked - Skins 31 Cards 13. AP gets revenge by running for 140 yards and 3 TDS. Smith is efficient and throws for 1 (to Reed). Bradford sacked 4 times. Johnson doesn’t get to wear down our D because they’re too far behind in the second quarter.
Doesn’t hurt to dream. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lol. Seriously we need to beat the Cardinals if we are going to move forward. |

Not everybody. I think he is overrated and I have said so many times. We are weak overall at OLB, IMO. If, heaven forbid, we were to lose Ryan Kerrigan then everybody on this board would discover just how weak we are at that position PDQ. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
A win better be in the Cards.
But I'm glad we open on the road, so if we play like ass per our usual week 1, at least we don't burn a home game in the process. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I just want to see our guys come out with some intensity, focus and be mentally sharp. We have enough vets on the team where we should be past the dumb shit. This is just the typical game under Gruden we lose.

We have that potential playmaking stud in Anderson waiting in the wings if anything happens to Kerrigan. |

74 to 3. Skins win.
Go big or go home. |

Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Saw one interesting stats on IG, did the math myself and turns out that person is right. The person said Gruden said that Cousins always put Redskins in tough position after first game.
2015-2017 stats for first games: Cousins: 3 losses, 2 tds and 5 ints, 2 fumbles. Smith: 3 wins, 9 tds and 1 int. Only positive Cousins had above Smith in first games are less sacks - Cousins were sacked 5 times and Smith were sacked 8 times but I wouldn't worry much about it because we have better O-line. Redskins win the game 35-17 |

Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Arizona Injury Report...a common theme: middle of that defense is pretty knicked up:
Markus Golden DE Knee DNP Jermaine Gresham TE Achilles Limited T.J. Logan RB Ankle Limited Robert Nkemdiche DT Foot Limited Corey Peters DT Knee Limited Olsen Pierre DT Toe Limited Some opportunity for Oline to control the LOS...which is yugggggge. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Cards D is good, I don't see us scoring too much.
|
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I honestly think we beat the piss out of the Cardinals, give us tons of hope for the season and then win a squeaker against a shitty Colts team. That's how the Skins roll. :D
If our defense gels, there will be a vast improvement against the run. We just can't give up chunk yardage. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
I fear we will be out game planned, as usual on one or both sides of the ball. In-game adjustments are always a problem for our staff it seems. I hope these fears dont come to fruition. Skins 17 - Cards ?

But IF the DLine stays healthy and produces, I wouldn't worry too much about Foster and Vigil doing the job at ILB. Now if Hamilton has to play we're in trouble. He's NOT ready.
Hamilton wouldn't be active ...but could you imagine if Apke had to play safety?
Right now that would kill us. Maybe later in the season he improves his tackling and uses the physical abilities we've seen flashes of to make plays.

If they showed Adams wife in the stands every quarter, It might be worth letting him play. |
Re: Skins vs the Cards Pregame Thread
Either people are seriously underselling the Skins or overselling the Cards. I'm going with the latter.
They have one of the best backs in the league in Johnson, and they have Fitz who is always reliable. But outside of that their OL is trash and their best lineman is on IR, their QB is made of glass, and probably most important to note they have a new coaching staff. What am I missing here? Why all the pessimism? |
