Johnnie Morton (Chad's brother) was cut earlier this week by the Chiefs

Good riddance to our "kick return specialist"!

Well, we know that at least one person on the board is overjoyed today

Who could that be?!

I think we should keep the Morton Avatar as a memorial. :biggthump

Re: Redskins Axe Morton

Im torn about this. His release provided very little cap relief room. He has shown in the past that he's a bad ass return man, although he only returned one kick for td for the Skins, a 94 yarder. He reminded me of Kelvin Bryant, and if any of you remember him, he's somewhat old school.

Re: Redskins Axe Morton

The only problem is that we have a plethora of bad ass return men. Add another one if we get McQuarters. He was dispensable unfortunately.

Re: Redskins Axe Morton

i still liked him. i wished we hadn't let him go, but it's obvious we didn't need him. i wish him luck somewhere else (except when that team plays the skins).

Very true. As do I.

Two Jetskins down, two to go.

Likes like Randy Thomas is the solid bet to be here the longest.

Good luck Chad. I'm sure he will have a good career somewhere else.

Oh well, it wasn't anything unexpected. The JetSkins experiment is over. Now we're going on the BearSkins with Harris, Daniels, and possibly McQuarters.

Now let me ask you something, can we technically refer to Santana Moss as a Jetskin? or not?

Re: Redskins Axe Morton

Bringing Morton here was an expenditure of arrogance and power. Morton is too small to be a good running back. He's no Joe Morris. He is really fast when healthy, but bring him to Washington was a dumb move and a waste of money. He's a KR. I wish him luck elsewhere, but he did virtually nothing last season before his injury. I tend to think that if he doesn't give you great value elsewhere then he's probably expendable. I was bummed when we signed him. Not because of him, but because we had more pressing needs. I'm glad to see the cap space with him being released. He's a good player, with good hands, lotsa speed and a good heart. He never fit as a Redskin. Mike Nelms that's a return man. I bet Morton even had a higher return avg than Nelms. But Nelms rarely went outta bounds without fiting for another yard...
KR's are overrated. The blocking makes it possible MOST of the time!
Don't let the door hit ya in the ass!
Goodluck Chad, you will find a team that suits you better soon.

Since Morton was released after June 1st, we now have some deadcap for 2006! We have over $16M in 2005, so there's a lot of catching up to do.

Re: Redskins Axe Morton

Bringing in Morton was a knee jerk reaction to our kick return problems. Rather than addressing the problem with coaching and signing a minimum priced guy, we overspent for a need position... as usual when Snyder had too much control over personnel decisions.

Gibbs is cleaning up the mess much like Marty did.

:laughing- yeh, maybe we can start a poll to keep Morton's Avatar....
hahahha........it would give Summo, Matty, and our favorite Morton fan ulcers thats for sure.................

Concur Matty............Snyder would just throw money at an overpriced free agent, but Snyder's $$$$ hasn't helped our win/loss record. We just need some patience because with Joe making the key decisions the Redskins will now do things THE RIGHT WAY to make our team a success, players need some coaching and we don't necessarily need a big name free agent to get the job done......IN GIBBS I TRUST..........

He's now gone and have a nice plane ride Mr. Morton. Who shall we hope leaves next? Barrow, Brunnel or Taylor??
