The way too early can we win the division thread

With Philly's loss today, the schedules look like 9-7 with tie breakers will win the division.
Philly has the Ram's left which likely gives them 7 losses.
Dallas has NO and Indy which likely gives them 7 losses.
The Giants would have to run the table to get to 9 wins

That would mean we have to win 3 games to be in the mix at 9-7. The next 3 games are Dallas, Philly, NYG. Sweeping those three would be a dream scenario, but winning at Dallas alone would be huge giving us an effective extra game in the tie breaker scenario.

We also have games against Tennessee and Jax, plus an extra one at Philly.

Regardless of the qb situation, having 6 wins at this point and 2-0 in the divivsion sets us up very well to win the East.

I think we are a better team with Colt and getting some injured players back. They key is the D stopping the run, they have regressed the last 2-3 weeks. Need to start playing better on D.

Jax looks like crap now, I think we can sweep the Giants. Colt McCoy has beaten the Cowboys, on Monday Night Football, at Dallas before, I think he can do it again on turkey day. We can at least split with the Eagles. I still think 10 wins is very reachable.

The D tried to back off against non-premium running backs to limit the other team's explosive abilities. For the rest of the season they need to go back to stopping the run first, and play on the back end. Does anyone know if Dunbar will be back?

I think we still have a good shot. Colt should not be a huge drop off in QB and in someways an upgrade. The key will be to limit turnovers especially those that give the other team good field position. Something Alex did really well until today.

Re: The way too early can we win the division thread

I believe That Colt’s completion percentage will be lower, but he’s gonna have bigger plays. The kid doesn’t mind taking chances. That may not always be a good thing, but it gives the receivers a chance to make a play.

It's going to be a better pass offense but will he limit mistakes? That's the big Q[QUOTE=BaltimoreSkins;1208200]I think we still have a good shot. Colt will take shots and try to make plays. He will probably have more turnovers than Alex Smith, but more opportunities for bigger plays. In the end, I think if we lose games, it won't be because of Colt McCoy. It will be because of some horrible officiating, a dropped pass, or the defense allowing a big play. I think McCoy plays well for the rest of the season. This is all on the hope he stays healthy. McCoy doesn't like to slide, and he may take a few more sacks, so his health will be the big factor, not his skill. I think McCoy is more than good enough to lead a team into the playoffs, but he has to stay healthy.

Other than NO and the Rams the NFC is tough but mediocre. Chicago looks tough but beatable, we beat Carolina and we are both 6-4, Minny will be a half game behind us and then seattle is there at 5-5

No way this team loses to the Cowpokes on Turkey Day. Not a fucking chance. This will be a 20+ point victory.

The division is still very much in play, a win on Thursday and we're back to a 2 game lead.

The winner Thursday takes the division.

Re: The way too early can we win the division thread

It's not like this team was winning because of Alex Smith. In my opinion, Colt can come in and provide just as much if not more (because of his experience in this offense) than Alex has this year. As has been said, beat Dallas on T-day and they very likely win the division. Whole team needs to step it up for the next six games.

2 Big things that Alex contributed as he was 6-3.

Red Zone % was very good

No Turnovers (+11)

If Colt can keep this pace I agree we won't miss Alex that much. If Colt comes in Thursday and has 3 ints and we lose, we are done

I think the key to winning the East is beating Dallas Thursday.

Is it me or has Zach Brown lost a step? He was all over the field last year, he’s been quiet this year. Thoughts?

He's been good on Run D, one of the best actually but the big plays are gone so it looks like he is losing a step. Still a very good LB

Re: The way too early can we win the division thread

Colt McCoy will play like Kirk Cousins did. He will get the ball out on time, anticipating breaks. The offense will function at a higher level and gain more yards and score more points.

The question is whether the other team will score more too, because of potentially more turnovers from our QB.

I say McCoy takes care of the ball well, we win the NFC East while Dallas goes down at the hands of the Skins this weekend, the Saints and the surging Colts. And then we end up with trade offers in the offseason for McCoy.

He's top 5 in the NFL on PFF's LB ratings.

Remember 2014 when McCoy started 4 games before he suffered a neck injury that put him on IR?...I think he's a much different Colt McCoy from then.
