Around the AAF Week 2
Yes I believe this deserves a weekly thread..
For 2 reasons: 1. The league is actually legit and fun to watch (ratings were high week 1) B. It helps pass time for the NFL Offseason. The former Redskin lit it up last week. WEEK 2 Match ups above. You guys in with me on the AAF? |

Go Fleet! I finally have local team that is my favorite team. Going to game Sunday. Perfect weekend to be President's Day. Got Monday off.

Re: Around the AAF Week 2
Love this thread! Funny y'all should mention picking teams...during one of the games last weekend my stepson asked what team was I pulling for...and I was clueless. Don't remember ever having this problem before...all the teams I root for were decided when I was really young. I never watched the USFL or XFL at all really. So I get sdskinsfan going with the local team, but for us who don't have one near, how you picking a team? Or are you? I did kind of dig the Iron uniforms also...as well as the name. As a Skins fan you could roll with the Hotshots because of Ross...any other Redskins playing with anyone?

Novak is a Kicker for the Iron. He was 4-4 last week lmao |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
So far all I got is hating Atlanta because Phil Simms son being the QB. Memphis would be closest to where I live, but with Mike Singletary coaching them they will lucky to win a game. Maybe I should put all the names in a hat and pick one.

Curious if it will be like going to a minor league baseball game where you get to pay minor league prices for beer and hot dogs. |

I hope so, I will be testing this theory frequently on Sunday. Gotta help stimulate the local economy lol. |

Re: Around the AAF Week 2
Espn reports the AAF reached out to Tebow and Kaepernick. Tebow wasn't interested because of playing baseball, delusional Kaepernick wanted $20 mil to consider playing.

He doesn't want to play football anymore, he just wants to play the victim card now. Sorry but that's a bitch move |

I just watch, and then see which way I find myself leaning. Some players or coaches will jump out as likable or unlikable, and if you just let it come naturally before you know it you'll be rooting for somebody. It's kind of like when the Skins get knocked out of the playoff hunt (often) you get naturally drawn to a certain team. In previous years for me it's been Aaron Rodgers but this year for me it was Phillip Rivers. |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
Does ESPN even have any information for the league on their site?

ESPN is salty the AAF chose CBS over them, I don't blame them either.. ESPN sucks anymore |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
The Skins really fucked over the Fleet. They picked JJ # 1 overall and then we signed him. So he isn't on the Fleet now and their QB just threw one of the worst INTs I've ever seen.

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I'm watching a high scoring soccer match. 9-9. Fleet need JJ. Him winning against Jacksonville now contributes to Fleet being allergic to the endzone and he costs us like 8 draft slots. Note - I'm glad we beat Jacksonville. I like winning and it was amazing for JJ. |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
This league must be sponsored by NFL because the refereeing is ruining games.

Re: Around the AAF Week 2
Apparently they failed to make payroll and the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey team owner invested $250 mil and will become the new chairman....... Only 2 weeks in...

There is indeed legit concern that they will not survive past the season. Had it not been for the hockey owner, the league would have folded shortly after week 2, is what the speculation says. I guess i will never understand how these things are not thought out / planned, like how much money they would need, etc. Although did you see the attendance at the Memphis game? Not good. |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
San Antonio had a great showing, 30K fans. It's all about the market.. We will see how it goes the rest of the way... Its a shame because its not bad

Re: Around the AAF Week 2
If we're being honest about the level of play so far the AAF has just been ok. The passing games are in the stone age compared with the NFL and that's to be expected, but still, I don't think the league can survive long term with sub par QBs and WRs.
|
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
My team is San Antonio because every time I've been to SA its been a lot of fun.

Agree. I hope the league makes it because its football and any football is better than 13th grade basketball which is almost impossible to get away from at this time of the year. |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
Haven't watched but I need to check it out. I saw that Martz and OBC are coaching...lol. What networks carry these games???? Also good to see Ross still going after it. Hope we bring him in when his season ends. We need some serious competition at wr.

I do not think any league will survive without the NFL's help. It needs to be a true minor league. |
Re: Around the AAF Week 2
How could they be so inept to have money problems after 2 weeks into the season? Kind of a rule of thumb to not start a business of substantial size without having 6 months operating expenses covered without any income. Sounds like the powers to be weren't fit or financed to even run a lemonade stand.

Re: Around the AAF Week 2
No surprise after seeing the empty seats weekly but the AAF is suspending all operations today, league most likely will fold shortly after..
