You have to figure the 'Skins will be in on this one. Gruden said at the combine that safety is a huge priority.

Agree and I have to figure he would have some interest. He played with a lot of these Alabama guys we have here. Not to mention the hometown connection.

All we'd have to do is be in the neighborhood of what he's worth on the open market and tiebreakers would figure to break in our direction.

Could it be that with a couple of right moves before the draft, and some luck in the draft, that we could all go into next season with some solid hope? I'm not talking about Super Bowl hope but hope in general instead of the doom and gloom I think we all expected?

no thanks, 2018 stats; 0 interceptions 4 passes defended...2017 slightly better. They need a safety that has some coverage skills.

Plus a big contract.

You need to think on why the Giants aren't trying to keep him. He is a great tackler and is good against the run but his coverage skills and his injury history make him not worth the money of top tier.

I'm all about Collins, but I keep reading that the Redskins like their safeties to be interchangeable. If they change that up a little bit, I'm all for him coming here and just being the in-the-box guy (giggity).

Eric Weddle cut yesterday....man this Safety class is flush with talent. Kinda makes you wonder. Also the deals have been really down the last couple years for both Safety spots.

I really like Collins...his play has come down from his all pro 2nd season. What type of contract would he garner and could we afford it? I think there will be other teams that will wow him contract wise and I also believe there could be better value with a market so flushed at that position. I think Earl Thomas is a better safety, but much older.

Well we have Monte who is facing suspension and Everett who is a solid special teams/back up player. And Apke and a couple other JAGs. We need 1 and I would actually look at 2 new bodies.

Side note, Craig Hoffman brought this up and id agree with him on scheme and safety play...I kinda wish we would have a more traditional free vs strong safety and not go with "it depends" based on looks. Maybe one of the reasons HaHa struggle so mightily. If Collins/Honey badger is a beast in the box...keep them there. You should be putting players in position to win....Ryan Kerrigan shouldn't be out in coverage.

I like Landon Collins. But he is a SS only, has had some issues staying healthy and he is expensive. Not the perfect/best player to spend big money on.

IMO NFL FS is more difficult to find than SS. Then why blow the bank on a SS?
This upcoming safety draft class while lacking the truly elite Safety like we saw last year in Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James, does have a solid quantity of round 2-5 talent. There are starter quality Safety's available in the upcoming draft if we invest a pick on one. The problem is we have so many needs that safety might not be addressed until later in the draft where it is nearly impossible to find a starter. Best Player Available will tell, but can our FO perform?
HaHa Clint Sux Dix is terrible and should not be considered in any circumstance to be our starting FS. The guy has the physical tools but as a player on the field is as dumb as a box of rocks. We wasted a 4th round pick on him.

Collins value isn't as high with all of the other guys there.. I'd take a look at Weddle to be honest

All Clinton Dix needs is an offseason program....he was basically learning new coverage schemes on the fly after the trade.....that's not entirely his fault.

HaHa shows deficiencies in the most basic of safety skills. He displays the same lack of on the field discipline and smarts he lacked and got him banished in Green Bay. This is NOT a lack of needing a training camp with us.

I think Collins would be a good get for us. I don't want to give up on Nicholson, he made a lot of bonehead plays last year and I wouldn't just hand him the starting FS job. But he's got a lot of range.

Collins is similar to DJ Swearinger, but much better at it. His aggression fits well with the defensive line being stout - our defensive line will help give him the free run he needs to take the angles.

He'll be costly though - I don't know if I'd be comfortable with this signing unless I see Scherff extended to reduce his 2019 cap charge. Still wondering why that's taking so long.

Plus he's not a moron that will air his dirty laundry to the media.

I was expecting (hoping) a new deal for Scherff prior to free agency. No idea what's going on there, they need to get it done.

first we need to get more cap room ,so not lets waste time lets get rid of z.brown , v,davis, s. mcgee , extend sheriff will give us about 15 million more on top of the 16 million we have now , maybe cut m foster also
