Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins

"The Washington Redskins just got trademark protection for their team name, well, they now have Supreme Court protection." |
Re: Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins
I never understood the furor over the name. I have never heard anyone use the word Redskin in public or private unless they were talking about the football team and I have been on the planet almost 60 years. Even if you go back to old Hollywood movies where almost all minorities are portrayed in a negative light you seldom hear Redskin used to refer to native Americans.

Same here man, I'm glad this is over |
Re: Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins
The name is going nowhere, as expected.
Irish, didn't we have a bet about the name? I think it was back in 2013 I said in 5 years the name would still be the same and you thought it would change. Trying to find our original conversation. Here we go |

It's a case of out of control political correctness, simple as that. |

Some will never let it go, saw a guy with a poster CHANGE THE NAME!!! when I was leaving training camp yesterday. He had on a tshirt resembling the logo with a white guy instead of the Indian head with CAUCASIONS written on it. |
Re: Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins
I have been following this for years now and its bunch to do about nothing. They can't even get 10 people to come out to one of their protest. Not sure if this will bring an end to the Redskins fight.

Try telling that to the dems. On a different note I saw this on the back of an RV the other day, love it!!! https://www.amazon.com/Homeland-Security-Fighting-Terrorism-Americans/dp/B008R35O3U |

Most dems don't think the name is racist... the calls for the name to change have always come from an extremely small group of people who make a lot of noise. Sadly, I doubt any number of polls will change their mind. |

Where can I find a shirt with a Indian head with CAUCASIONS written on it? I would wear it with pride along with my this team makes me drink shirt.

Re: Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins
I thought this video was very cool, showing Native Americans as far as 1894.

Re: Supreme Court rules in Favor of the Redskins
So, this is what I don't understand:
I few years back the Post did a similar poll, with the same results. This, of course, was more detailed, and more than that, we now know it's 'Proud' those polled fell about the name. So, there must be some American Indian body that would be willing to work with the team, right? It just makes so much sense to me. In this partnership, Redskins as an organization would make Native rights their social justice cause. Huge benefit to the native American population, bringing light to their important issues, and moneyto help their communities. Think if the level of pride this would bring to the name for the American Indian population potentially. 2. Redskins adapt their branding and marketing to promote the partnership, vastly improve their public image, and capture more revenue. Think about it, all the people offended by the name would lose all basis for argument. All the fans that love the team, but feel guilty about the name would now feel justified in his pride in his team and spend more money because they want to be associated with the team and what it stands for and the money is going to a good cause. 3. With the stigma gone, the Redskins would be treated fairly by the league finally. Lol. 4. Also, think of how fucking cool it would be to build in features to the new stadium that celebrate native American history, art, architecture, etc. Also, I'm sorry, I would fucking love authentic native American dancing on the sidelines. Just think of the potential experience that could be created. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

That would also be a great way to ensure that the way the organization celebrates Native Americans is actually in line with how they want to be celebrated... The name change movement continues in high schools and colleges. https://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/high-school/article233803682.html
