Re: Jay Gruden fired
Sounds like Callahan will be the interim.

Re: Jay Gruden fired
Is Bruce going right behind him? Cause if not then this doesn't do shit for me.

My first thought |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
All well and good but as long as DS is the owner nothing will change. Bill Bellichek would have zero success as the Skins head coach because DS wouldn't let him run the team how he wants. More shuffling the pieces around by a clueless organization.
|
Re: Jay Gruden fired
While I think Jay is a good guy and he got screwed by the front office time and time again...its time he goes. Playing colt McCoy in meaningless games is a detriment to the team. Kevin OConnell taking over the offense and developing Haskins is more important to the future of the franchise.
Of course Bruce leaving next is most important development that could happen. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
Bruce should have been canned first, he was the one that hired Jay

This is unfortunately the cold hard truth. There is a 90% chance the next HC and staff will be no better than the last. It is a pattern. That being said it is also that time where we have the small glimmer of hope that somehow the next guy is so good that Dan and Bruce step waaaaaaay back and he wins. Part of me, although Jay would never do it, hopes that he goes on a media tour exposing how terrible Dan and Bruce are to work for. It has to become thee story in Washington. Not that it would change anything because Dan doesnt give a crap. But it would make me giddy to hear nothing except how terrible the guy is. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
From ESPN :
Redskins player to me on coaching change: "It was time. Too much laziness & stubborn *%#@ going on around here. Folks not taking #@$! serious. Looking at snap chat during practice, come on now. You know who I'm talking about. Guys were talking about it. We'll see how it goes." |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
Urban Meyer?

I have seen too many things happen in games that would of got a player in most situations a talking to from a coach when he came off the field, with the Redskins under Gruden nothing ever happened. The most glaring one I saw was when Jordan Reed stopped to stare down Alex Smith while an opponent was returning an interception 100 yards. I remember once 49er HC Mike Singletary sent Vernon Davis to the locker room in the middle of a game for doing something stupid. Speaking of Jordan Reed, when are they going to move on from him? Who is making those decisions on what players to keep and which ones to let go? He isn't going to miraculously turn around his health issues. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
Full-time coaches hired by Dan Snyder and their records:
Marty Schottenheimer 8-8 Steve Spurrier 12-20 Joe Gibbs 30-34 Jim Zorn: 12-20 Mike Shanahan: 24-40 Jay Gruden: 35-49-1 |

Only is the Skins paid him a mega contract. And even then it doesn't seem worth it for him since he already has $. From what I have heard, Meyer's team culture is centered on religion and God. That might work in college but I don't see that flying in a pro locker room. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
good move so far,now lets get rid of the bum G.M. BRUCE /and where do the redskins go from here as the next coach any rumors or speculation?
|
Re: Jay Gruden fired
Urban Meyer?
he's a college coach, not NFL. That rarely works. Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll are the exceptions. Nick freaking Saban couldn't make it in the league |

Going to give Callahan a shot, lets see how he does |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
January 9th, 2014 : Jay Gruden is hired as the Head Coach of the Redskins, with the hope of being able to help smoothen RG3s development.
(2/8) : 2014 : The Redskins go 4-12, Robert Griffin III regresses, team lacks in all phases. Jay Gruden reportedly prefers Cousins over RG3. (3/8) : 2015 : Jay Gruden announces Kirk Cousins as QB1 for 2015 season, overcomes 4-6 record to finish 9-7 and make playoffs for the first time since 2012. The Kirk Cousins contract dilemma commences. (4/8) : 2016 : Redskins take a step back despite fielding a top-5 offense in the NFL and fail to make the playoffs at 8-7-1. Kirk Cousins gets another franchise tag. (5/8) : Redskins regress on offense after losing Desean Jackson, Pierre Garηon and Sean McVay, and Kirk Cousins shortcomings become very much clear. Terrell Pryor busts and Redskins finish 7-9. Redskins let Kirk Cousins hit free agency and trade for Alex Smith. (6/8) : 2018 : Redskins promising 6-3 start gets crushed by Alex Smith breaking his leg against the Texans, resulting in a 1-6 skid and a 7-9 finish. Redskins trade for Case Keenum and Draft Dwayne Haskins. (7/8) : 2019 : Journeyman QB Case Keenum is named the starter, along with Star Left Tackle Trent Williams holding out leads to the Redskins offense underperforming. Defense also disappointingly under performs, leading to an eventual 0-5 record. Reports of a rift between the Redskins coaching staff and the front office over the selection of Dwayne Haskins emerges, along with a video displaying Jay Gruden behaving in an odd manner. (8/8) : October 7th, 2019 : Jay Gruden is relieved of his duties. (Final Record : 35-48-1) |

Outside that trio of idiots Shanahan was 146-98 and Gibbs 124-60. Small sample in DC, but Shottenheimer was 192-118 elsewhere. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
What about Manusky? Dont his name anywhere.

They don't have a salary cap at Florida and Ohio State. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
What comes to mind for me is 'The king is dead, long live the king'. Unless there is a revolution, the king will still be a virtually powerless if not well rewarded stooge. Just like our monarchy over here. Vive la republique I say!

Best of luck Jay. Now hopefully manusky is next

Jay wanted this outcome, he still gets paid and will land a job somewhere else next yr. Probably in Vegas too, hookers all night! |

GM moves rarely happen at the same time as the HC. KOC might be the guy next year, but I'm glad they put Callahan up for the gig. You're putting a rookie HC at a major disadvantage asking him to turn around the culture/instill his way of doing things with the team already in an 0-5 hole. Anyways this whole discussion is a moot point if they don't #firebruce. |

They might be better...maybe....but They all have jobs right now AND Haskins is Urbans guy.... so is McLaurin for that matter. |
