Yes I know he's a rookie,but in preseason he looked like a shoo-in at corner,he got hurt but is healthy now and can't break into the lineup?is there an explanation because maybe I'm missing something here!

Exactly. I look at the young talent we have on defense and think "what if we got a competent D Coordinator here?"

Sweat, Payne, Allen, Matty I, Cole Holcomb, SD Hamilton, Monte, Apke, Collins, Moreland, Dunbar....I seriously have seen flashes and steady performers on the defense. The right guy could mold the unit into a great defense IMO. I really think that...

I also wonder how much this is a lack of capability with positional coaching. I can't help wondering how much dysfunction Manusky is engendering down the management chain.

We have enough talent on the D to be top 15 in league maybe top 10 .. It has to be the scheme or coaching or culture or all three...

Complementary football isn't on their side as the offense can't sustain enough drives. But yeah coaching is the biggest problem.

Agreed 100%. Throw [B]Bostic[/B] in there, he's playing real tough, love it.

I've been saying for a while the 1st half against the Pats was no fluke, it was what this D [I][U]SHOULD[/U][/I] look like with a competent coaching staff.

I compare our D to the 49ers, very similar with the exception of 2 players MLB and passrusher. Need to plug those holes, I say throw in a replacement CB for Norman.

This is the biggest problem to me - if your offense only manages to stay on the field for 8 minutes a half, it puts the D at such a disadvantage...

When it comes down to upgrading on defense, there really isn’t a ton of need (especially if Kerrigan is back) in the offseason except for CB ....a cornerback is extremely high on the list. I actually wouldn’t mind bringing in a veteran who fits in the scheme of whoever the new dc is. I think jimmy Moreland should stick at nickel.

I generally agree with you most of the time CXP, but Foster is a JAG (and he's hella weak against the pass). I think we should look at getting a stud for at least one of the mike spots next year. It's the qb of the defense and I think it would help the communication issues we have on D tremendously.

Hmmm, I thought he was considered to have good coverage skills and elite speed coming out of college. The knock on him was his inability to stay healthy...

We talking Reuben Foster or Mason Foster? I thought it was the latter lol, forgot all about Reuben. But idk how reliable he will be. I wonder how much all the injury problems the last few years were due to Jay running soft practices.

Can't stop playing that game - it's part of THE game. Injuries happen, players go on IR, you hope they come back healthy next year...All 32 teams play this game.

What do you guys think of Jon Bostic's play ?
I like him so far, plays tough against the run and though he got beat a couple of times in coverage, he either was right there and it was a perfect throw and catch, or he was right in front of the receiver, in zone, to make the tackle immediately.
