Philly postgame week 1
WOW.
I was down and out and that pass rush just gave me hope. All I can say is kudos to Ron, he has those young guys fighting |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Its really gonna take some getting used to having a team that makes half time adjustments.
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
It's refreshing to see this team fight and claw from being down instead of giving up. This is the kind of culture this team has needed for a long time.
Still a lot of miscues and bad accuracy from QB, but I'm happy with the win. |

Amazing job, gave up 0 and scored 20! Also Haskins managed the game well, he was not good but he can get better. Have to get Terry the ball more |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Qb worried me. Everyone settled in. Just glad there were no fans to take selfies with on the last play
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Anyone know what happened to Gibson? Didnt see him in the 4th at all
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
I have never been so pissed off, disappointed , and happy in one game in my life.
Haskins needs to improve a lot. Del Rio needs to go full animal all year, and hopefully our pass rush can help our secondary. RR’s gamble on fourth down was awesome.... |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
I never had a doubt!!
That comeback is the difference between Gruden and Rivera. No way we were anywhere close to being in that game last year. Eagles line is beat up but our defensive line is gonna be real good. Yeah, let's go ahead and keep Kerrigan. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Chase Young is the real deal. Big impact plays all over the field...he runs to ball carriers.
Man, RK made 2 yugggge bigly plays. Dude I was wrong, he can still play. I thought the CB locked down the outside well, Collins had 2 big Tackles for loss. Curl and Moreland had nice tackle for losses as well. The offense had some big plays...I think the Sims jr catch near the goal line was a big time. Logan Thomas got it going as a the game went on, 2 big first down catches and the Blown coverage TD. Barber got some tough yards for us...the 4th down run was play of the game. Haskins, missed some throws but good energy and leadership. Never got down! JDR and Ron - these 2 guys are why we won |

Re: Philly postgame week 1
Game ball for Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera.
We finally have a defensive coordinator. Ryan Kerrigan, who wanted him traded away? Kerrigan > Sweat. Of course D-Line played great. Good substitute pattern. Back 7 (secondary and LB’s) played great. Good tackling, great read and react. Secondary looks much improved. Offense- Morgan Moses made a key block on 4th and 1 run play conversion. Haskins improved as the game went on, but he looked rough early on. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
8 Sacks and 3 Takeaways!
Defense kept us in the game even after we got down to start. I also agree with other posters saying we would have been out of this game down 17 with Gruden. New name, New team, HAIL. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Is this the first game ever of Moses career that he didnt get a holding call in a big spot? Or did I miss it?
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
1 and 0 .....
THIS is what change in culture looks like. The fight. The not blaming your teammates when they f*ck up. The sticking together, and playing for the other 10. What I am excited about is where this win takes us. Because anyone not bought in before, will be bought in now. Haskins was unimpressive, BUT ... he's young. And this is his first game in this system. And he didn't turn it over. Your boy Carson Wentz turned it over ... and over ... and over. Feels great to be 1 and 0. Let's go RAMS -- beat the Cowboys and give us the exacta!! |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
We’ve talked RK, Chase.
Check that box score...Matty I had 1.5 sacks today. Just a quiet baller. Montez, Payne, Allen all got in the act too. Yo, that rookie Curl...dude flashed a lil bit today. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Thomas is a solid TE actually
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
This was my pregame thoughts:
Things I expect to see: A defensive front 4 rotation that hammers the Eagles line A breakout offensive player - not sure who, but I think there is going to be a player the talking heads can't stop talking about. A solid game plan and adjustments A solid performance from Haskins than is expected Things I hope We win We win convincingly We sack Wentz 7 or more times We see our offense as it should have been last year with good coaching
Overall, I think I am happy with how it turned out. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
This team is going to have to win games just like they did today. That d-line rotation, keeping everyone fresh, that seemed to be the difference today. In the past it seems like there wasn't much of one and guys just wore down. That was not the case today. Those guys were just eating.
I just feel w/ Haskins, he's just never going to be a accurate passer. His shot-put motion, footwork, it just isn't good enough at the NFL level. But he didn't have any turnovers, Wentz did and that was a huge difference. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Our run game was not good. I wonder if AP could have helped. 24 carries for 93 yards with Detroit.
Also shoutout to Moreland. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
D looked great but that was a very depleted Philly O. A better test next week I think? O is a concern hopefully they will get in sync but that was a solid game management O given the circumstances. A win against a divisional opponent since 2018 so I'll take it.
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Nfl.com reporting Haskins made the halftime egg while RR had a (planned) IV. Apparently said all the right things and apparently got them up for the 2nd half. Maybe he won't be the franchise QB we are looking for, but seems he has the leadership qualities at least. Maybe the confidence boost with the win will carry on into next week?
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Our D is legit, our O will improve as the season progresses Young makes such a difference, my boy Moreland and Fuller should be the starting CB’s.
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Haskins started slow but he did enough to win today. Same goes for the rest of the team. Also first opening game win since 2014, that is crazy to me. For one week, we're happy. Can't wait to see how this team does when everything is firing on all cylinders.

Re: Philly postgame week 1
Just a few random thoughts about today...
The Game: I was impressed with the persistence of the team and Haskins seemed to play well! The Radio Broadcast: I was working at my part time job all day and listened to the Sports Talk 980 stream most of the day, and I actually enjoyed listening to the broadcast team. Personally I think that Julie Donaldson, Bram Wiestien, and Fred Smoot did well. The Uniforms: While kind of plain, I did like the look of the uniforms. Personally, however, I would prefer the gold (yellow) pants with the Burgundy jerseys as opposed to white pants. Just my thoughts Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk |

Did Gandy Golden play today?
Time to put a fork on AP, I want to see Bryce Love instead of #38.
I was wondering where he was today. Really wish he would have gotten a look. Thrilled with the victory as others. Wow d looked good. Love the pass rush and tackling was very good. Concerned about Haskins' accuracy. Must be better. Love his fire and emotion though. Dude can lead. Very happy with this game 1 victory. @ Arizona will be tough. Our corners better be ready. Hopkins put up over 150 today.
Nice victory WFT!! |
He was inactive, hopefully he’ll be active soon.
OK thanks for the info! Yes needs to be active. His experience at rb should count for something. Much more than Gibson. Gibson's talent is apparent though for sure.

Re: Philly postgame week 1
A pleasant day with a win. The defense looked better with a new D coordinator. The offense was surprising in the second half but I will not complain. Haskins may mature into a starting quarterback so I will withhold judgement for a few games. He did look good in the second half. All in all, I am happy with the outcome today. Kerrigan looked much better today, not as tired looking. I was wondering how the defense would get everyone involved. It seemed to work out great as the players did not look as tired at the end of the day. I am looking forward to next weeks game.

Re: Philly postgame week 1
Today's game shows what a difference coaching makes.
Loved RR's 4th and 1 call. CRed and I were talking how, in the past, Gruden would have just gone for a FG to take the lead and then let the opposing team drive the ball down the field for the go ahead TD. RR previously discussed some of the things he learned when he first became a head coach and said that one of his early mistakes was failing to put away teams when he had them down. Now, he said, he tries to make sure he keeps his foot on the other teams throat. Going for it on 4th, instead of taking the easy go ahead FG, was him doing just that. So very different than the last several years (Gruden with the lead: "We are ahead? Cool, everybody take five, imma gonna go get a soda"). We can't spot opposing teams 17 points; I think Arizona's a better team than Philly so next week is going to be a real challenge. For now, however, just gonna enjoy the W. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Arizona is legit on Offense , they have weapons and Kyler is good but if we can rush the passer like today, we will be in the game

Re: Philly postgame week 1
When was the last time we saw a pass rush like we saw today? That 2nd half was so fun to watch.
|
Re: Philly postgame week 1
A brand new offensive and defensive system. Young QB and a lot of young and undrafted players on both sides of the ball. No pre season games. Limited practice reps due to COVID.
The first half was what I expected it to be. The o line we knew was an issue. They didn’t give Haskins enough time to step into his throws early on. They had to build some chemistry and some reps on both sides of the ball early. And it showed. But damn if the players and coaches didn’t MAKE. SOME. ADJUSTMENTS. WTF is an adjustment?! I heard about them from fans of other teams but I haven’t seen ‘em on this team in a loooooong time. Bottom line folks, we have a young team with good core players (that we still obviously need to add to in several positions) and some DAMN GOOD coaches. That’s the X factor. In years past, we would have shit the bed in the second half. Sloppy play, guys blaming each other, no discipline. But not today. I can’t tell you how proud I finally am to be a fan of this team. It’s been hard for awhile, but I feel like we have something to build on and make some serious noise in the future. Maybe not this year. But maybe.... |
