Kyle Allen named the starter

Sources: The Washington Football Team is making a QB change. Kyle Allen will get the start vs. the #Rams, while former starter Dwayne Haskins goes to the bench.

Knew it was coming, Haskins was never a RR guy and he's just been awful.

I’m surprised

But Haskins play has not been getting it done.

It’s a results based league

Re: Kyle Allen names the starter

Shocker. .. Haskins was never Ron's guy, Allen is. It's that simple. Haskins era was real short. The QB merry-go -round in DC continues.

Dan Snyder today.. 😡😠😭

Re: Kyle Allen names the starter

Haskins should have never been drafted in the first round in the first place. Fuck Dan and Bruce.

Haskins has talent, but he needs to learn the position.

Something about this franchise and QB's, just can never get it right.

Re: Kyle Allen names the starter

Kyle Allen was traded to WAS for a draft pick... We all knew he was Ron's guy all along. Sucks for Haskins but he also has played like shit for 3 of the 4 games.. Ron knows the division is TERRIBLE and maybe he wants to show the team he isn't Tanking. i don't see Allen being good either so we will 100% be drafting a QB in 2021 now

Dan Snyder and Bruce QB choices are garbage

The one guy who was solid, Cousins, they hated.

Wow...per the team...Alex Smith will back up Allen. Not Haskins...lol.

Matty can u fix the header for me? It's bugging me out lol.

Also I agree, we never land the right QB's... The bills had the same issue for 20 years as well until Allen so maybe we have some hope next draft

skinsfaninok 10-07-2020 09:24 AM

Re: Kyle Allen names the starter

Not only is Dwayne Haskins not starting for the Washington Football Team on Sunday, he's not even No. 2. Alex Smith will back up Kyle Allen against the #Rams.

Holy shit

Re: Kyle Allen names the starter

If there's one thing this has convinced me of, it's that a new HC needs to pick his own qb. Philly won a SB 3 years after the Chip Kelly debacle partly due to this.

We'll be lucky if we can get a similar package for Haskins that Arizona got for Rosen.

Re: Kyle Allen named the starter

Wow ... was not expecting it now.

Im guessing Haskins could only throw half of Turner's playbook (slants/crosses/screens) and our offense was being limited by Haskins not being able to see and throw the next level passes.

There has to be more to it.

Welp ... this Sunday just got a bit more interesting.

Lowest % of accurate passes this season:

30. Dwayne Haskins: 50.4% (benched)
31. Mitchell Trubisky: 46.2% (benched)
32. Carson Wentz: 42.8%

I just get the feeling the guy’s not a leader. I mean he hasn’t outwardly shown that as far as I can tell. But he just doesn’t seem like a dude who inspires his team or takes instruction well

This.

We're on the outside looking in. Ron and his coaches see him every day. They know better than anyone if he's putting in the work to get better.

If we win Sunday and Allen plays well, I will say RR is a genius

More proof that RR is totally in charge.

As much as I was giving DH the benefit of the doubt, I really didn't like his whole "I wasn't staring at receivers" response when he clearly was.

Too bad he didn't work out. Oh well.

Wish the team hadn’t voted him captain. He wasn’t ready for that either. I wonder whether they’ll continue to try to develop him or whether this represents moving on for good.

This.

I kept defending him even when he was making dumb statements like that.

Ron is obviously putting the needs of the team as priority #1 right now.

Hope the timing doesn't affect our ability to get a long term starter next year.

Re: Kyle Allen named the starter

I'm actually surprised. Ron's been in an evaluation/rebuild mode ald I thought he'd take the entire season to see if Haskins is the future.

I guess he's made his decision already.

It's a complete cleanout of the previous regime, as it should be. It was never going to be a quick, or pretty process, but I am trusting Rivera has a long-term plan that will hopefully result in success.

A few MLB teams have gone through the multi-year destroy and rebuild plan with success: Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox (in year 3 of plan and seeing results now). While we do not have minor leagues to build up, we'll have to rely on draft picks.

Year 1 draft results by Coach Ron have looked like a success with Chase Young, Antonio Gibson immediately being productive, with late-round picks Cameron Kurl and James Smith-Williams contributing. If Charles and Gandy-Golden get rolling, great draft overall.

Who knows, maybe this is a quick kick in the butt for Haskins to wake him up and make him feel expendable if he doesn't fix things.

It's also possible Ron is looking at this division and thinking he can actually win it in a year he hadn't planned on contending in. We CAN win it.

After everything we've heard from Haskins, I don't think he has the mentality to buckle down and work his ass off to get the job back.

I think he's done here. Just hope we can get something for him.

Cred no biggie but Scott Turner is our o-coordinator. Still I trust his judgement on this one.

Re: Kyle Allen named the starter

The right move. I knew after the draft pick was traded for Allen and they were considering drafting Tua last year that he wasn't sold on Haskins. Haskins had his chance and didn't impress.

No one on this board is giving Allen a chance at all. I'm not saying the guy is going to be Dan Marino but at least be open minded. If anything, at least we'll find out what we have him in. Haskins not even being the backup is all you need to know. Wow on that note.

Haskins will be inactive. This is the next step for Alex Smith returning. This staff believes Smith is ready to play. #WashingtonFootball

I am, and I liked his film last yr.. He knows the offense and gets the ball out quickly.. Terry should flourish with him

I said early last year that Haskins has none of the qualities I would look for in a QB. I never understood what people saw in him. I'll be surprised if he ever starts another game anywhere.

He started 12 games for Carolina last year. Liked his draft profile and excited to give him a real chance. Also excited Smith could be back in the mix also. Pretty crazy news but happy to hear it honestly.

Allen feels like a Colt situation.

Knows the offense, can get the ball out quick, limited arm.

Allen had a 49.7 grade for 2019, last amongst qb's with at least 200 dropbacks.

Yeah the ceiling isn't very high with him. He should be able to operate the offense more efficiently but his arm is definitely limited. Let's just hope he's not as fragile as Colt was.
