Giants play Eagles at MetLife on Black Friday and then in Philly on Christmas Day! FUCK! Please not a Monday night game!

Re: 2023 schedule release thread
Love that we're getting football on Black Friday. Why did it take this long?

I never really thought about it before, but that's a good point. Even better, its a game we will all have a vested interest in. The best week of the year imo, just got a little better. |

The RGIII win in Dallas will always be my favorite Thanksgiving ever. Absent winning the lottery on that day, it will never be replaced. |

Week 14 bye? Ugh. Seriously that’s a long time to go. Otherwise seems fine.
Week 1 - Cardinals - WIN
Week 2 - Broncos - Lose Week 3 - Bills - Lose Week 4 - Eagles - Lose Week 5 - Bears - WIN Week 6 - Falcons - WIN Week 7 - Giants - Lose Week 8 - Eagles - Lose Week 9 - Patriots - WIN Week 10 - Seahawks - Lose Week 11 - Giants - WIN Week 12 - Cowboys - WIN Week 13 - Dolphins - Lose Week 15 - Rams - WIN Week 16 - Jets - WIN Week 17 - 49ers - Lose Week 18 - Cowboys - Lose 8-9 and Ron is gone. Sam plays above expectations though and we ride the wave of a new owner to future success under EB. Rons team always starts out in a hole because he is usually napping until week 5 or 6. All of this can change due to injuries, etc but based on right now. |
Re: 2023 schedule release thread
I have no faith in this current regime to win more than 7 games.. Barring some miracle season from SH
|
Re: 2023 schedule release thread
I honestly have absolutely no idea what to expect. I really don’t.
Sam very well should be an improvement over last year’s quarterbacks. EB > Turner. Our secondary should be better. Our line should be better? You can usually guess which teams are contenders for drafting top five and which are contenders for the playoffs but with us I feel like it could be either. |

Having a backloaded home field schedule towards the playoffs yeah I feel really bad for them. |

I'm just thankful this didn't happen to the Commanders. https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/05/12/nfl-schedule-2023-teams-screwed-giants-jets-seahawks And it’s actually even worse than that, says Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated. This schedule is borderline criminal While the entire theme of this year’s ordering of games was “naked money grab,” forcing one of the NFL’s stalwart franchises — a team coming off a playoff berth with the reigning Coach of the Year on the sideline — to go on the road for seven of the first 10 games is ridiculous. New York is also tied for the most short-rest games out of any team in the NFL, with four according to ESPN analytics, which also noted that the Giants are tied for the most short-rest road games out of any team. I don’t count a single two-game stretch where I’d deem both games obviously winnable, and they are tied for fourth-toughest in strength of schedule. While I can predict that coaches like Brian Daboll and DC Wink Martindale, who have been through the ringer, can use this as a collective battle cry, this is the kind of legitimate screw-job that alters the course of a promising season. Closing the year with the Eagles twice in three weeks, including once on Christmas, is a middle finger at best. What on Earth did the Giants do to deserve this? |

I don't see why it matters, every NFCE team has 9 away games, you have to play them at some point so whether frontloaded or backloaded doesn't matter. The adage is the same split on the road and take care of business at home and you're in the playoffs. The tone of the article is hilarious though. Author: forcing one of the NFL’s stalwart franchises — a team coming off a playoff berth with the reigning Coach of the Year on the sideline — to go on the road for seven of the first 10 games is ridiculous. What he means: I would not be complaining if this was done to a team like the Houston Texans that are not a part of NFL royalty. Author: New York is also tied for the most short-rest games out of any team in the NFL, with four What he means: I am complaining about my franchise being given prime time games due to their success and performance but rest assured I'd bitch if there were only three prime time games too. |

Just kidding: Playing seven of 10 games on the road around midseason, without an offsetting long homestand, is a big problem. Indeed, the Commanders don’t even have consecutive home games. Sure, they open and close the season at FedEx Field, but such a heavy travel schedule when the team typically plays its best under coach Ron Rivera doesn’t lend much hope for him to stay in 2024. |
