Around the NFL training camp thread
Really I was just looking for an excuse to post this absolutely hilarious joke by the Kelce bros.

Sony Michel peace out
Guess he had enough lol. I expect Seattle and SF to dominate that division. Imagine the Rams are a 1 and done. |

2 titles, he made some bank (if he's smart he'll play that small amount of NFL earnings into something that will set him up for life). Man decided better to retire now vs. bust his ass and beat his body up at a devalued position. Guessing he won't be the last either. |

Jonathan Taylor reported back pain in pre-camp physical, source says Shortly after Taylor and Irsay emerged from the hourlong meeting, news broke that Taylor had requested a trade in a conversation with the team last week. Taylor has been seeking a contract extension, but Irsay has said on multiple occasions that the team does not intend to sign him to an extension at this time. Irsay drama, that’s a shame |

This doesn't look good for Colts, and this is bad timing since they have a raw rookie QB who will need some help from the team. |

Irsay is right on schedule in solidifying his worst NFL owner status now that Danny is gone. |

Irsay definitely comes off as a crazy SOB...but apparently he is really nice guy to meet him...unlike Dan who was crazy and a total Ahole. |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Chiefs' qbs are just absurd. Not only Mahomes, but even Buchele/Gabbert looking awesome in the preseason game against Arizona. No excuses for Commanders not to beat AZ week 1.

It was never in question that Irsay would inherit the worst owner position, was it? |

Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Per everyone, RB Johnathan Taylor given permission to seek trade and Irsay wants a first or a package of picks.
Exactly what a Rookie QB needs, losing one of the best RB in the game |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
So the 49ers gave up 3 first round picks for someone that’s now designated as QB3?

Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Epic bust for the 49ers
|
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Yet even with losing three first rounders and the epic bust they are one of the top teams in the league. Most teams wouldn’t recover for years after that.
|
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Also, pass on Lance. Howell has more arm talent and much better passer

we gave up a bunch to the Rams for RG3 but most of their haul turned into poop Miami has turned their haul into gold. https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2023/8/23/23843593/trey-lance-qb3-san-francisco-sam-darnold-lessons |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Trey Lance must be complete ass to get beat out by Sam Darnold
|
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
49ers are so lucky that Purdy has played so well. Otherwise, they'd be completely shamed and mocked by this. But they keep winning and still ended up with a good QB (or it appears so, he hasn't played that much), so it's hard to really shit on them that much.

They seem to always get lucky on QBs even Jimmy G took them to a SB |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Lucky, to some degree yes, but they kept drafting QBs even they already had two and when Garapolo finally left they signed another veteran backup even though they already had two young guys. It helps if you keep turning the backend over because sometimes you find diamonds, and the more you do it the more diamonds you find. It is why it is always worth taking chance on a QB in the late rounds of the draft, he may be nothing, he may be a starter or he may get you back a bunch of mid round picks.

Purdy plays with a amazing team around him, not sure he look so great say in a place similar to WSH It be interesting to see Sam on SF |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
Adam Schefter on X (TAFKAT)
Trade: Isaiah Simmons is being traded from the Cardinals to the NY Giants for a seventh-round pick in 2024, per source. |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
It will cost the Giants $1m for Simmons, Cardinals giving him away, is he that bad?

It be interesting to see Sam on SF
Agreed . . . Purdy is a great story (even better around here as he went to high school 10 miles from my house and is good friends with one of my friends kids, I'm definitely rooting for him), but i think, at least partially he is a product of being on a loaded team. This will be a telling year for him for sure. |

Great decision maker and has the tools to be successful.

Yep, another example of the danger of drafting "Athletes" rather than football players. |

He did have 99 tackles, 4 sacks, and two picks last year. If Young continues on his trajectory it would probably have made sense. Kidding. Sort of. Need to see CY on the field consistently and producing this year! |
Re: Around the NFL training camp thread
It's the other guy the Cards traded today that we could have used given our problems with the OL.

They had no idea how to use him. Isaiah Simmons position alignment by season 2022: LB: 33% Edge: 12% CB: 49% S: 6% 2021: LB: 58% Edge: 23% CB: 18% S: 1% 10:52 AM · Aug 24, 2023 Wink Martindale will know how to use him. |

they were using him in the buffalo nickel role . . . nothing they did with him worked . . . wanted him to be an LB, was getting manhandled by everyone . . . moved to to safety and HORRIBLE angles galore . .. moved him to buffalo nickel, whiffed on tackle after tackle and still HORRIBLE angles galore. Coaching staff sure has their work cut out for them. He is a hell of an athlete. |

Simmons was a monster coming out of Clemson with crazy athletic attributes. Will be interesting to see how he does in NY.
