Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Immediate thoughts:
Howell had a mostly good day today aside from that turrible endzone pick. That's two weeks in a row with mostly getting the ball out quick - one of his sacks was basically him trying to scramble and only getting back to the LOS. Another one was immediate pressure off the snap. Two weeks in a row the reffing was absolutely turrible. TURRIBLE. I don't like to play that game but they were ignoring premature DB touching all day today on both sides. And that sack roughing the passer call? That was the most horseshit call I've seen this year. Jamin Davis - I've seen enough. Yeah he had the nice PBU at the end but waste of a first rounder afaic. Wasted Ron pick. Remains to be seen but felt like Allen/Payne were pretty quiet today other than a few nice run stops at the LOS. JDR needs to adjust so we can get better pressure. Scary Terry had a nice bounce back game today. O-line played pretty solid today other than a couple bad plays. Phidarian Mathis - only time I saw him was when he was getting his ass beat. Waste of a 2nd rounder afaic. |

Negatives:
No pass rush, surprise, surprise Refs sucked dick all day EB inconsistent play calling LB’s Positives: BRob Terry OL Forbes Howell Dotson Gibson Martin |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Howell is the real deal. He’s a gamer and is pretty damn accurate in tight spaces.
Defense was iffy but really they only allowed 2 long drives. The Fumble by Brob wasn’t on the defense. We need LB BAD….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
2 weeks in a row with much improved line play and Howell mostly getting the ball out quickly. A lot more enjoyable to watch.
Howell, please never throw as an egregious interception as that again please. |

Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
It took Cousins about 5 seasons to stop making dumb plays in the red zone. If Howell can do it in one season that would be a win.

Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
3 points allowed the second half and the defense was given shitty short field on the b Rob fumble. Davis blew his assignment on the long TD run. But the team played decent defense on the road
Absolute bullshit, terrible throw by Sam int in the end zone but bad coaching contributed. I’m sorry, 3 timeouts and the clock was winding at like 34 seconds…Ron should have called a Timeout, plus it allows for a running play. Sam played well sans he one throw. Man, Dotson tried to one arm a long pass which was perfectly thrown with tight coverage and Brown let a fuckin TD go right threw his hands. Dyami Brown sucks. 1 sack seemed like it was on him, but he’s made progress. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Nice run by Howell as well. Pringle made a couple of big catches.
The Dline was quiet. I thought the call on Henry was terrible. Forbes had a nice game, which is good to see. Lol at JDR’s look when he showed Davis the clip of messed up assignment by him. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Per Keim:
In the last five games, Sam Howell has thrown for 1,510 yards -- most in the NFL. He also has thrown for 10 TDs during this time, tied for most. |

If Howell is the quarterback of the future we are in a really good position going forward. I think he is. We have enough picks and cap space to fix the oline and lb corp. I really hope we get the right people in here to make that happen.

Need a pass rush now, it was non-existent except for the KJ Henry sack and fumble that was bullshit penalty. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Bill Belichick must be feeling the end is nigh. On another note, Casey FN Toohill is about to show the world his dominance. The one tackle he had today will propel him to carry this once proud franchise back to prominence.

A lot came in the 4th quarter though. I think about 9. I would prefer to see a bit more running. Maybe a 60:40 pass :run ratio. They were close today. His yards per attempt is solid too. |

QB Sam Howell did well executing the game plan. He threw for over 300 yards, his third game this season

I agree, I think AG needs more touches too but overall I can’t be mad at EB too much. The offense is at least fun to watch at times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Mac Jones will not be starting in NE next year. He missed so many passes. Del Rio should have been sending a lot of pressure.
EB was better today but on the drive where Sam threw the pick, run the ball there dude. He is still way too pass happy. Get in the I and run BR. You had 3 timeouts. smh.. Perfect team for Forbes to get some confidence. Hope he can continue to play like he did today. Outside of the int Sam played great in spots. We gotta take the good w/ the bad. He threw some absolute dimes. We all gotta remember we are basically playing a rookie and w/ that comes rookie bs. And give Ron some credit. He had one of our defenders fall down and play hurt so he could take a look at the incomplete pass. |

Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
While the D played pretty good, I thought the absence of Sweat & Young was noticeable. If it was a better QB than M Jones, it probably would have been a different outcome.
Sam was very good I thought. That INT was pretty bad, but that 24 yard run was pretty damn good. That's what you get with a rookie QB. I like that he has a short memory. He's able to flush his mistakes, move on and do good things. Just the way I like my Sundays, a Washington win and a Dallas loss. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
I felt like the run game was actually given a chance today, and the team actually ran out of i-formation instead of just showing we could line up in it.
that roughing on the sack was pure garbage fire. I'd be confused too if I was KJ. What's he supposed to do, sit there and watch him throw it? I like the fake injury to give Ron enough time to process challenging that play. We beat the team we're supposed to beat. Feels better than throwing the eagles game (drops/refs/ron/eb). |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
The roughing call wasn't a bad call, its a stupid rule. What's a defender to do, Olympic level gymnastics mid tackle to avoid landing on a QB? And risk injury to himself in the process? The rule was added to stop defenders driving QBs into the ground deliberately, not simply making tackles.
I was watching on Redzone so I missed a lot, but from what I saw the pass rush was basic and all about collapsing the pocket, not freeing up defenders to get to the QB. No twists, stunts etc. JDR has 0 innovation. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Just found out that this is our first win against Pats since 2003 and the score in the 2003 game is 20-17 as well.

These calls need to be reviewable or NY should buzz in and say pick that shit up. |

Shoutout to Heinicke too, remember how Ron was gonna turn to him in the last game of the year last season? Howell owes Heinicke a 10% cut of his next contract lol. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
The roughing call was embarrassingly bad. The officiating was horrendously bad. That crew needs to go. I'm being serious, just put flags on the QB.
I loved the rush from Henry. Get him more snaps please cause no one else sniffed the QB. |

4-5, I am going to start referring to this record as The Rivera. He's just a 4-5 kinda guy.

NFL is consistently inconsistent in their officiating. These guys should be doing more in between games to be getting in to game shape and this shouldn't be a side job for them. I don't mind a rule as long as it in enforced equitably and consistently. |

I'm curious how this compares to all his other midseason records as coach of this team. Seems like we have the same flow every year - slow starts, losing record halfway, baller November record (10-1 last two years plus this year iirc), followed by December mediocrity to end up just outside the playoff picture. |

He gave the guys time in the booth to get Ron to challenge the play. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
Referee Adrian Hill said afterward that the hit was clean, but that the flag was thrown because of how Henry landed on Jones.
“The ruling on the field was that the defender came down with forcible contact, chest-to-chest,” Hill said in a pool report. "He didn’t perform one of those acts to remove most of that body weight – a gator roll or a clear to the side when he was coming in. He came down directly with that force on the player, so the category was full body weight.” Anybody got replay footage of the sack? |

I thought the player faked being hurt because Ron was not challenging the call on the field. He gave the guys time in the booth to get Ron to challenge the play.[/quote] Somebody from the staff might've given him that instruction - I just saw a case a week or two ago where some other coaching staff told a player to fake an injury. Don't recall the team but I'm sure it will be in the news when they get fined for doing it. Either way it was the right call in that moment, that was a good challenge. Idk why they don't make those plays reviewable by the official - we shouldn't have to waste a challenge on a bad call. |
Re: Commies takedown Pats postgame thread
The call was pure horse shit. I don't care how that scrub tries to justify it. Absolute joke out of all the football I have watched this year that is the first of its kind. Typical fuckin nfl bullshit. Refs crooked as they come.
