Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2084948 This is the best thing to happen to the Lakers since we signed him the first time 6 years ago. :biggthump
Sorry all you Laker haters out there. They will be back on top in 3 yr's max. That's a fact.

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

Kobe really has to check his ego at the door now, because if the Lakers do win people will just say "well this proves all along that Kobe couldn't win without Phil"

I would have liked to have seen Phil go somewhere like Sacramento or even Dallas (before they committed to Avery Johnson) and take that team to the next level. Or how cool would it have been if he had gone back to Chicago with all that young talent they have there

I would have liked to see him make the Warriors of Clippers actually good.

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

This is a little surprising. Not because of the Kobe/Phil dynamic, but because Jackson doesn't take projects - and that's what the Lakers are. Despite Kobe's talent, there isn't another A-list player on that team. In fact, unless Jackson can make free agents play for the minimum, they haven't got the ability to get more talent in. Good luck, LA.

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

The Lakers do have Lamar Odom,Caron Butler,Devean George, and company. Maybe not what you call A list players. But Odom & Butler arent that far off. With the right coaching :coach: I can see Odom being Braynt's "Pippen". And if Brian Grant can get it together who knows.
Phil will defiantly make this team a lot better then they were a year ago.
What the Lakers most desperately need now is a good point gaurd. The rest will have to come later when they have more money under the cap.
All I know for sure is things look alot better for the Lake Show today then they did yesterday. :food-smil

Brud Lee hit it. Phil Jackson is as over-rated of a coach as there is. Has he ever taken a team that wasn't already poised to make a real run at the championship?

I don't care who you are, 9 championships is impressive.

Jackson is a star's coach, which isn't as easy as it appears.

Here's my offense. Give the ball to Michael Jordan. Once he's tripple teamed, pass it to some white guy behind the 3 point arch.

Let's see that would be Steve Kerr and Paxton..................

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

if what TK has been talking about on PTI with Yao joining the lakers when his contract is up, the lakers could definitely be a top cotender again. I do like the versatility of Odom but he and butler need to be greedy sometimes and not act like their afraid of what kobe will say if he doesn't touch the ball on every possesion.

No matter what, this can only help the lakers, but for the near future it definitely has the potential to hurt Phil. I'm a lakers fan and the thing I don't like about this is that now anytime the team loses a couple games in a row or Kobe's scoring goes down for a bit, the media's gonna be out there hunting for blood. we'll also never hear the end of Shaq still bitching about kobe even though kobe shut up about shaq a long time ago cuz the media and shaq himself won't let it die.

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

Look guys the WESTERN conference is TOUGH..............Phil has to get through the likes of the Spurs, Suns, Sonics, Nuggets, Mavs, Rockets, Kings and even Grizzlies with healthy Galso is tough, and T-Wolves could easily rebuild around Garnett. Phil doesn't have the talent like he has had with teams past (ie Chicago, Lakers) to get through the likes of that competition. Also how can you blast a player in a book and have to work with him as your key player. I think one thing brought Phil back the $$$.

SPURS FAN AND LAKER AND PHIL JACKSON HATER.......For those of you that probably don't know the Spurs/Laker rivalry is as intense as the Redskins/Cowboys .............

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

Yea Daseal that would work. :laughing- You must watch a lot of B-Ball. Those white guy's behind the three point line never get cold now do they. :nono: Where were the Bulls or Lakers before Jackson came?
Just keep on hating. Will see if Phil gets the last laugh. When He wins a 10th campionship in a few years. what will you say then? The rest of the NBA sucked so anyone could have done it? :laughing2 What a joke!

Riggo. Steve Kurr ring a bell? That guy was automatic from 3 range. The Bulls had Michael Jordan and a bunch of really solid role players (Pippin, Grant, Kurr, more), the Lakers had Kobe and OffensiveFoulMachineWhoNeverGetsCalled.

Re: Phil Jackson is a LAKER again!

I new who you where talking about Dasel. But you can't count on that. You must have more then a little white guy (Kerr)with a nice shot and a superstar (Jordan). Jackson gets teams to play toghter(Shaq & Kobe). Will see what he does with the Lakers this time around. It might take 3 yrs but he will get them back on top.

plus whose to say jackson can't get other relative no names prior to his arrival to step up and be similar reliable role-players.

I cant believe that aftert all of these years of the Wizards sucking and finally making it to the playoffs that we have nothing better to talk about than Phil Jackson.

Very easy for us Spurs fans.....very easy ;)

Just like when the Spurs won the championship in 99.......lockout year and Phil said to put an * on that championship  .......Redskins won a Super Bowl in the strike season too.........my favorite teams seem to follow patterns...........

They should put an * on it! :joke: Phil said that for one reason. And one reason only. To piss every one in S.A off. I think it worked. Jackson did the same thing to Sacramento. He just likes to through gas on the fire. It's fun for the fans. And helps build a good rivalry.
What a great finals games last night. It's probaly the only time in my life I will pull for the Spurs. Only because I still like Robert Horry from all those big shots he hit for the Lakers. I was stooked to see him come through again. The guy is a class act.

Wasn't BIG SHOT BOB great :) it's funny because a lot of Spur's fans don't like Horry because he was an ex-Laker.(they call him Laker spy because he never plays well against his old team the Lakers, and was awful in last year's playoff against the Laker's) and Horry was also an ex-Rocket another Spur's rival, who beat the Spurs in the Western Conference finals with Horry.....But after last night's game, everyone gave BIG SHOT BOB some love :silly:...Horry has been classy as a Spur, and said he loves the commoradre that the Spurs players have, he's never been on a team like this, ..the players have a special chemistry on and off the court.
Yeah Phil tries to use psychology on the Spurs players and fans.....but Pop won't play his game.........Nice talking hoops with ya Riggo
