2024 Offensive Line
We might have fucked around and actually put together a good offensive line this season. Helps to have an elite QB, but they are getting the job done on the ground too.
What a hoot watching this offense has been. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
They have been better than expected I agree. Coleman and Algretti have certainly helped at critical positions.
|
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
Safe to say they are exceeding expectations for sure, props to OL coach Bobby Johnson who wasn't a popular hire at the time.

Re: 2024 Offensive Line
Could it be the whole being greater than the sum of its parts? Plus good coaching.

Having competent Center play has made a world of difference.

Re: 2024 Offensive Line
Jayden Daniel's lightning quick release makes their job easier also. Seriously may be the fastest release I've ever seen. Heard Marino's was crazy fast also, but he was before my time.

I always felt the OL was not as bad as everyone believed and I too believe the center change was key. Words can not describe how bad our C and LG were last season, I saw that as a huge upgrade and we already knew the RG was really good. I knew Lucas was adequate at LT, didn't see this from Coleman and other than Jayden Coleman he has been the biggest contributer of this rookie class. If they did in fact find their future LT in the 3rd round that would be huge for the rebuild as they won't have to go into the draft desperate to fill the position. |

It has confused me why Dallas opted to go with a 3rd round rookie to start at centre over the experienced guy they knew. That move is at the heart of both offences this season. |

Really looking forward to the next 5+ years with AP in charge, our second rounders haven't really popped yet but this years draft class is looking so good. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
the last two weeks have been about as good as I've seen from our line in a real long time. they were mauling the Cards and Jayden had all day to pass. it's night and day from last year.

Sam played a big role and why they looked so bad last year. |

Sam and EB definitely didn’t do the OL any favors last year |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
Sam played a big role and why they looked so bad last year.
I like Sam Howell but he did have a tendency to hold onto the ball too long which doesn't help his oline. Hope he does well at Seattle and for the rest of his career.

Obviously needed an upgrade at Center & LG, but EB's horrid scheme and SH's tendency to hold the ball way too long were the main culprits that made the O-line look so bad at times. Hoping Coleman works out. Early returns seem promising. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
OL has done tremendous the past two games and have played solid the entire year so far. We can always improve, but they doing work and keeping JD upright.

This is the result of paying so much cap space to a few players. They had to make moves like this. Dak's contract will really hurt them. |

I thought during the offseason that even if Daniels busts they draft so well they could overcome it. I mean what other team can spend so much on a player like Trey Lance, get nothing in return, and remain title contenders? AP is the most important part of the puzzle, it's not even close. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
At one point last year or a good part of last year, Sam was leading the league in pass attempts. Here he is in his 2nd year, 1st starting and you put that kind of pressure on a young QB, it just didn't seem fair at all.
EB is a clown coach, hard headed, very stubborn and had no business running a NFL offense. Kingsberry is committed to the run and is using multiple TE sets. He's just doing a damn good job right now and the players are stepping up and performing. EB never used #8 at all. Look at how this guy is running the rock right now? Just so glad EB is outta here ruining UCLA's offense. |

I believe he didn't want to put his young QB in 2nd and long all afternoon so he spread it out and tried short passes to replace runs. Not saying I agree with all of this but I have to believe this was his train of thought. |

Jerrah should fire his GM but he won't because he is his own GM. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
Jerrah should fire his GM but he won't because he is his own GM.
Correct. He also thinks he's the best in the world at it. Jimmy Johnson not Jones was the primary architect of talent acquisition for the run in the 90s. Jerry's ego got in the way and Johnson left. Still think Dallas may have won more SBs during that time if Johnson stayed.

Plenty of good things to talk about than rehashing irrelevant topics from the past. |

Kingsbury > EB |

And two 4th and 2 gambles, with the second the most ballsy. Coaching staff showing trust in the offense and it is paying off.

Playbook expands with a QB who has legs like JD5. Makes those short to go so much easier. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
You guys still juggling Sam Howell balls?
He was trash. EB was trash, River Boat Retard was trash. That match made in hell gave us JD, hallelujah! |

They go for it, usually without hesitation. Besides being competent, this new staff has stones.

Re: 2024 Offensive Line
I'm curious to see Wylie's PFF grades for the season (i.e. season average through the 5 games).
Are his numbers actually better than last year? It would sure seem so. I haven't really noticed him this season, and honestly, that's what I want from a RT. I would assume he is playing better. But maybe Jayden is just that much better than what we had last year he is covering a lot of it up (him and even the OLine as a whole). |

EB never adjusted, never wanted to run the ball, and defenses could just tee off on the QB who refused to throw the ball - play after play. I'm not sure the line (Wylie included) was as bad as a lot of people concluded last year. Sure, they weren't great and individuals got beat sometimes, but they had absolutely no help from their OC or QB. |
Re: 2024 Offensive Line
^ EB hung the OL out to dry for sure. They were middle of the pack in terms of PFF grades. Scheme, QB, and play calling matter.
