Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Per Yahoo: The Ravens are No. 1 in offensive DVOA and it’s not even close.
Gonna be a real tough match-up for our defense (or really anyone's). This might need to be similar to the Cincy game to come out with the W. Really looking forward to this one. |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Homefield advantage will be a big factor for this game. I think M&T is a tough place to play. The fact that no travel is involved is somewhat of an equalizer (compared to other away games), but there's still an obvious advantage for Baltimore.
That said, Baltimore's defense is no better than what we saw with Cleveland. They are better at stopping the run through 5 weeks, but that's about it. If we can establish an effective running game and somehow limit theirs, I actually think this is a W. but, if LJ and DH have a big game collectively, it will be tough. I see this as a one-score game in the end. Hopefully, we're on the right side of that. |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
We just need to stop Henry and force LJ to throw a lot, then we have a chance.
|
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
This game is exciting. I am glad they kept it at 1pm, Sunday would have been brutal waiting till later!
Both defenses are going to have their mettle tested. I think we come out ahead 30-27 Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

I’m excited to see how we stack up.
Gotta remember we are playing with house money this year. It’s great to actually enjoy watching football again |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Gonna be a tough game for sure. We have a huge challenge on defense this week and a kind of smash mouth football to contend with. Hope we come out on top!
We just need to stop Henry and force LJ to throw a lot, then we have a chance.
Stopping Henry is one of the most difficult tasks in the whole league although I agree with your strategy. Interested to see what Whitt Jr. dials up. Only thing I like about this game is Baltimore just came off an emotional road victory and ours was more a snoozefest. Will be a very tough game but not impossible. If we could pull this off, we'd be the talk of the league and Jayden likely MVP candidate #1.
HTTC! |

I'm actually going to this game, so I'll get the see the team in person. Very excited and hopeful for a W.

This would be an awesome game to go to. Have fun and I hope they win for you so you can walk out of there talking mad trash! |

This Baltimore defense and Oline is not the same as in year’s past. We can def win

I'm staying on the Win train..
Commanders 30 Ravens 27 |
My thoughts exactly. If we have to lose a game, this is the type. Much better than a division, conference, or home game. Make no mistake though, it'd be a huge win and one that I think is attainable although will be tough.
2 things I'm interested to see most in this game: 1) How we handle Ravens' vaunted rushing game 2) How JD plays against their defense/tough road environment HTTC! |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
I'm going to give the Ravens a slight edge here. I think it'll be a 31-28 type of game where both defenses struggle.
If somehow we pull this one out then all hell is gonna break loose. |

Also we have a ton of tape on the Ravens, this year our offense is an unknown and continues to morph each week. All that is to say, I would not be surprised to see us win convincingly (not a blowout) along the lines of 33 -27 Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |
I didn't look into the breakdown of stats, but the Ravens D is 31st against the pass.
This is very encouraging. Think KK may dial up even more deep shots after this. JD's dime he threw to D Brown last week was sick for a deep bomb.
Let's go Commanders! |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Sunday can't get here fast enough. I really believe in Washington at this point. I was so afraid KK was going to be a dud but it's clear he's a dude when it comes to developing and tailoring this offense. I know Baltimore will get their points, but so will we.

While I feel we could win, I also think it could be bad. Real bad
Skins have played a schedule of soft pass defenses and our defense has played bad running teams. 24-40 burger Ravens |

Skins have played a schedule of soft pass defenses and our defense has played bad running teams. 24-40 burger Ravens
I mean, the Ravens haven't shown to be all that good against the pass themselves, so with regard to playing soft pass defenses, I guess that trend will continue. The only team worse than Baltimore in pass defense - in terms of passing yards allowed per game - is Jacksonville. Regarding "bad running teams", I will agree with you. Arizona would be the exception as they are top 5 in the NFL in rushing (Baltimore is #1 and Washington is #2). It's going to be interesting. The edge probably goes to Baltimore and their running game. If they can stay on the field, dominate time of possession, and actually score TDs, it's going to be a problem. That said, if Washington can figure out a way to contain (not stop) their running game, I don't think they can stop our offense, so that could be a problem for them. I can't wait. Unfortunately, I won't see the game as I'll be watching my son play baseball, but hopefully NFL Network will have a replay. Win or lose I'd eventually like to see it. |

Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk
He is great with qbs. Mahomes, Mayfield, Murray, Daniels, C Williams, Case Keenum, and Manziel. Quite a list. He's also run more than I expected and has been pretty unpredictable on plays. He has done very well so far. |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
I think it's clear the Ravens will be able to move the ball. They key will be keeping them out of the end zone. if they can hold them to field goals I am confident Jayden will put up TDs.

Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Commanders Post = 179
Ravens = 181 I'm not setting myself up for failure/disappointment. Gotta give the advantage to the team that's been doing it for a long time now and has the home field advantage. The huge difference is, there is a legitimate chance that we can win this game. In years' past, we would win a random one here or there, but it was never actually something you would have any confidence in. Times are a changin'. Hail to the Commanders! LFG!! |

Robinson is ruled out. Going to be a test if we can win mainly with our passing game

Definitely “bend don’t break” style defense will help, but Lamar is more loose than JD5 with the ball thru the air. Taking advantage of bad throws by Lamar and converting them to turnovers could sway the game. |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
For those that don't know I'm a Brit and get my NFL fix largely via Sky TV over here. The prime slot is 6PM (your 1PM EC games) and for the first time in a long time, especially early season, they have this game on live. Woohoo! A Washington game in this slot would have been virtually unheard of in the last few years. What a difference new ownership and all has made!

Only with DAZN and given how much we pay for Sky, and we usually get 2-3 Washington games a year on Sky (TNF, SNF and MNF), its not currently worth the extra cost. But on this upward trajectory, I might be tempted! |
Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
I'm cautiously optimistic for this game. I feel like we are def trending in the right direction, and beating bad teams pretty easily. I say that, though, knowing that the only playoff caliber team we faced really kicked the shit out of us. So, i think a lot of our stats are misleading....but we are doing what we had hoped...beating teams that are def beatable. I hope that the hype is real. daniels is def the qb talent we have been lacking for soooooo long. ownership, coaching, and office staff are all where we need them to be (finally), but i dont want to get my hopes up and assume that we are some crazy turnaround worst to first story. we still have a lot of holes on the team that need to be addressed. Secondary is sketchy as hell....and sans last week, our d front has been questionable. they are going to be tested with lj. still a great position even if we lose to be 4-2 in the first third of the season... i cant remember the last time i could say that.
and thats where i think we'll sit going into next week. we get a hard fought loss: 28-32, but still look good enough that people dont dismiss us as a fluke. |

Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Forbes and Davis on the inactive list. Man our ROI on 1st rounders is low. Add Chase to that list. And Haskins. My God.
On to Baltimore. We’ve played well this night recent weeks and have improved on defense in particular. But the Giants, Cards, Bengals, and Browns aren’t top 10 teams. The Ravens are. But I’m with all the folks saying that we can and should make it competitive. A win would be amazing but seems unlikely. Baltimore’s pass D is sus, but outside of that, they don’t have a lot of flaws. Without some turnovers going our way and perhaps some special teams help, this could be a reality check game. But for me, the difference is wanting to see this game to see what we can do versus dreading this game - a big difference in a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Ravens Pre-Game Thread
Robinson is inactive too, unfortunately. Not that we can't run without him but it would have been nice having our bell cow back in teh game if we need to chew up some clock.
