My Redskins Theater
I know i've promised pictures before, but i've kept it so dirty that my wife wouldn't let me post any pics. Now after a once over with a vaccum, here are some pics of "The Hog Pen" Home Theater that i've been building for about 9 months.
I know the jerseys are old (Smoot and Coles) but I bought them a while ago and who woulda thunk they'd both be gone. Besides they have almost no value on ebay now too. I've done all the work and installation myself and with the help of my dad and brother. I know it doesn't seem like much, but when you can watch all your Skins games on a 110" screen in 6.1 surround sound, and play your skins franchise on Madden and NFL 2k5 on the same size screen, it makes all the difference. I'll post updates too as I do more work. Re: My Redskins Theater
Nice screen. Suggestions would be to paint a wall that yellow gold and burn the jerseys
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Looking sweet!
You should frame the jerseys. My plan is to have someone paint the Skins logo on the wall of my yet to be built Redskins bar. |
Re: My Redskins Theater
That's nice man. It looks like your own little private space so you can focus on the game.
I look at my 53" TV and I'm filled with envy...thanks a lot! |
Re: My Redskins Theater
I was thinking about doing a burgandy wall instead of grey, but i think i'd leave the gold out because of the extra glare on the screen it would create.
Also the walls are all double insulated so my wife and kids don't hear when i'm yelling at the screen. I said some really awful things about brunell and his family last season so i'm taking all the necesarry precautions. |
Re: My Redskins Theater
nice man, looking at that 100 inch tv makes me jealous and ashamed of my 32 inch in the living room. but seriously, i would take those coles and smoot jerseys and put them in a metal garbage can with lots of gas, and burn them. i would buy some of the classics if i were you, like jurgenson, or some others. paint the walls burgundy.

Re: My Redskins Theater
I'm also in the process of building a HTPC (Home Theater PC) and my goal is to record ever game to the hard drive and make a highlight video at season's end. I've got a 200gb HD and 2 40gb SATA drives so I should have more than enough room for that.

Re: My Redskins Theater
Sweet place, kingerock! :headbange
Don't worry about the old jerseys. I've got the same problems and more: Coles, Smoot, Bailey and Davis. I've got them all moved to a little "Ex-Redskins corner" in my Redskins Room-- except for Smoot, he's still out where everyone can see him. I just couldn't bring myself to put him in "the corner". The guy was just so friendly and such a joy to interview (not to mention the fact that he played his guts out while he was a Redskin), I'm probably going to reserve a place of honor for him in perpetuity. You just can't spend that much money on jerseys and then toss them. Each of those guys provided some great memories for Redskins fans-- except for maybe Coles, who despite making some great plays, left with such bitterness and acrimony, and inflicted so much woe upon the Redskins' salary cap that it will be difficult to remember him with anything but disdain... Okay, maybe we should burn the Coles jerseys. :FIREdevil |
Re: My Redskins Theater
you mentioned a 6.1 surround. I know what 5.1 dolby digital is so what is the 6?
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
isnt 6.1 an extra speaker, so instead of 5 speakers you would have 6 speakers plus the sub woofer... i think...
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Check this site out on surround sound speakers and their setup.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Dude, excellent! There is a corner of Texas that will forever be Redskins.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Jesus, I'd never leave the house if I had that TV screen.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
6.1 adds a 6th speaker in the back so you have surround left, surround right and surround back.
If you have the right reciever and decoder it will make all your 5.1 surround sound into 6.1. It's really nice. They make 7.1 too but i'm not there yet :) |

Re: My Redskins Theater
yeah, but not all recievers do that so if you're looking into 6.1 make sure it will decode and mix to 6.1. Pretty much the sweeps from left to right go through the center and it mixes the stuff that is in stereo in the back through the back center too. It's pretty nice.

I thought I was the stereophile/home theater expert?! :oink: |
Re: My Redskins Theater
kinda surprised its not a black, but i guess its dark enough down there that it wouldn't matter ;) looks nice.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
the next gen ac3 codec is going to be 12.1 i think, so if you don't think you got enough cabling now...
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Very nice Kingerock.............

12.1?!?!?!? People are seriously starting to just "make up" channels for sound. I mean each speaker MIGHT have like one or two sounds come out of it every few minutes with that type of channel-age. LOL |

Re: My Redskins Theater
That's cool! I like the Hog Pen poster. :biggthump
That's cool! I like the Hog Pen poster. :biggthump
I designed it myself and had it printed up at 24 x 36. It list the theater equipment ala a movie poster. I am thinking of doing up some more as I can get them printed very, very cheap. |
Re: My Redskins Theater
How much was the poster if you don't mind me asking?
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
How much was the poster if you don't mind me asking?
at that size, you're looking at about $20.00-30.00 for the print, but you'll need someone to do the art too. I'm a graphic designer and I printed it in my office, where we do marketing and advertising. So it cost me nothing. I did my own art and printed it on a poster paper. |
Re: My Redskins Theater
Would there be any way to repost these pictures? I'd love to see another great Skins Room.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
i'll shoot some new images this week and post them.
I may repaint this summer though, I saw the Home Depot commercial where you can match paint to team colors now and I think i'm hooked! |
Re: My Redskins Theater
Since you're in TX, you should just go ahead and paint your house burgandy w/ gold shutters. :D
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
I saw the ad too....so I went and picked up the brochure. They have everything you need.
|
Re: My Redskins Theater
Can't see them they come up blank!
|
Can't see them they come up blank!
I second that |
Re: My Redskins Theater
I can't see your pics either.
In the Home Depot brochure they have Redskins Red and Redskins Burgundy. I don't know which one will look better. I'm thinking the Red. Has anyone tried it yet? |
Re: My Redskins Theater
I haven't tried it yet, but am in the process of finishing off the Redskins Room. I think I will go with the Burgundy on a couple of walls, but don't really want to use the team color gold. I think I will use more of a brownish gold...kind of like the throwback color.
Any progress on the pics? Also, I have been looking for some inspiration on room design for my Redskins Room. I have been doing some searches on other teams forums to see how their fans set up their rooms. This is one of the sites that I found: http://www.phinatics.com/extreme.htm Does anyone else know of any good sites to see what other fans have done? |

Might as well get a unicorn running down a rainbow while you're at it. |
Re: My Redskins Theater
HAHAHAHA! LOL
Yeah, it's almost like someone "paying" to have a "man" having "sex" with another man on your arm. |
