Is anyone else as appalled by this behavior as I am? Now, we hear that Rosenhaus "just wants fair market value for my client." Now, imagine this, T.O. signs a big new deal and then tanks this year. Do you think he will scream to be paid LESS next year? Here is what I propose--if he continues to be a distraction, throw his bum on IR. The prorated portion of his signing bonus will be far less of a hit than eating it in one bite, and it will open up a roster spot for a receiver who wants to play the game. If Joe had done that with L.C., we would have an extra $9.x million to spend for another receiver ourselves...and a lineman...and a linebacker...and a cornerback. And I imagine that from a career perspective, the value of these incessantly whining players would start to plummet. What do you think their "fair market value" would be after a couple of years in the training stalls? This would work even better if future contracts include a minimum number of games played to get any real money, even if it is only one game.

Is there even any value in signing a long term agreement anymore if so many players won't honor them?

Philly deserves all the headaches TO gives them. They knew what they were getting in to, so I can't feel bad for them at all.

I agree. I was reading his comments and I just couldn't believe the things he was saying about himself. HE is the definition of a hired gun.

Think if we were the ravens in the situation, the eagles stole TO and they deserve this trouble.
TO in the last week has insulted Mcnabb on national television, has refered himself to Jesus, and has said that the president should trade his ass if he didn't want to pay up. TO thinks he can go to Atlanta, he says they might be interested

I'd hope that Jim Mora Jr has more since than that. I hope he stays in Philly, plays this year, and that they lose with him. Then we'll see everyone calling him the missing link in philly really eat their words. Do you guys remember when he was bitching out McNabb on the sidelines last year? Imagine that on the sidelines, locker room, press conferences, media events, etc... Wouldn't that be great.

T.O what a joke this guy is making himself out to be a bigger idiot! I do get tired of hearing the players saying it is a business. The only people this is a business for is the Owners who own these teams. I don't recall any of the players having an NFL business within the team based on their play. Those associated with the team are an employee of that organization essentially. Last time I checked because I thought I was the best safety specialist in my organization I told my boss I was holding out and would not come to work because I was not paid because I had a good year. Just like T.O and all the NFL players I came in knowing what I was going to get paid and excepted that while I was employed with them. I have to live with that and continue to work until I decide to move onto something bigger and better.

I applaud the Eagles and hope they really stick to their guns and this trend starts to pick up in the NFL especially with the Redskins. If they are a true team player which T.O definitely is not I could see maybe working out something Incentive based instead of paying you on your production from last year, lord knows in the past we have fell into some of those great previous years players and seen the production we got from them the following year. Pay them if they produce that right now is the business side of anything with incentives. T.O's contract is big 8 million or so a year, his agent should have negotiated some incentives in to increase that if T.O had a great year. The Eagles paid him to come in and play like he did get them to the Super Bowl what did he do any different than he was paid to do and agreed to do.

TO is a great receiver... but he is not a team player, so a team's benefit from hiring his skills is severely lessened. Just imagine if he had the personality/bigger team perspective of some of the greats. Then he truly would be worth all the hype he gets.

I hope he sits out this year, makes no more money, and teams won't pay him because of the risk he brings. He could become the Jeff George of receivers. Make him work at the local lumber mill or Taco Bell for a couple of years. Jeez... could you imagine him as an analyst?!

The guy compared his plight with that of Jesus! I always find it funny when players refer to themselves in the 3rd person, a la Joe Horn but to compare a contract negotiation and subsequent fan displeasure to Jesus is the hallmark of someone completely misjudging their place in reality.

First off, he said he would go to Atlanta, it proves his jackassery(stole that one). I mean, how many balls would he see compared to what he got last year. Vick runs half the time, and when he throws, he isn't as accurate as McNabb. No way does TO have the success in Atlanta that he had in Philly. He would make Vick better, as he did with McNabb, but in the end, he would bitch and moan just the same.

Second - If he really compared himself to Jesus, he may have true mental problems. Seriousy, that is bordering on insanity. How big can your ego get?

I thought it was bad last year when he compared himself to Rosa Parks by refusing to play for Baltimore. Seriously, I am loving this. I often feel like I hate the Eagles as much as I love the Redskins. It's about time that team imploded.

he'll probably compare his finacial "struggles" to the strife of those involved with 9-11 or the contract negotiations being similar to the plight of Holocaust survivors. I say these things sarcastically but sadly it wouldn't suprise me if TO the diva actually did say something about those or similar events and the "tribulations" of his life. The eagles and to deserve each other.

TO talked to perenial D-BAG steven A. smith and "quite frankly" Steven A. said that TO said he will report to training camp b/c he wouldn't allow the eagles to take more money from him,(if he doesn't report to the first day of camp(aug.1) he will lose 1 point some million) Drew was then interviewed and said that all options were open and they are willing to sit out the entire season and they understand the ramifications. Also Drew said he knows there are teams that are willing to give TO what he wants and says that they should allow him to seek a trade

Don't forget that the Eagles got to the superbowl without TO. He came back, and they lost. HE played a good game, but the Eagles obviously didn't need him to get to the superbowl and lose. He's just a loud mouth idiot.

btw, quick note: you can't throw a player on IR without their consent (meaning they gotta sign papers and the teams union rep has to sign as a witness). The NFL did that to prevent coaches (like Gibbs) from stashing extra players there... we could have used the extra bodies last year too.

T.O. is screaming that he was underpaid last year - and to look at his base salary, he may be right. However, if the Eagles were to renegotiate and sign a new 6-year deal, even just moving around existing dollars, it would mean that Owens was basically paid over $9 million last year - since that was his signing bonus for this current deal. He wasn't underpaid last year, he received nearly $10 million - he's [u]projecting[/u] that he'll be underpaid this year getting about $3 million. That's the gaping hole is his logic.

As bad as that would be it sounds about right for him. I do know this; Karma is one sharp boomerang. Keep drawing comparisons between yourself and some of the worst events in human history and something bad is bound to happen to you. It always works like that. I do not wish harm on anyone playing this game (well with the exception of Cunningham when I was a kid and he was scrambling us to death) but God, Gandhi, The Ade, or Jesus Shuttlesworth will get wind of his rants and blow out both his ACL’s as retribution.

Thank God for sanity among the ownership. Perhaps if the owners agree to boycott this type of behavior, it will come to an end, and we can hear more about football, and less about "outplaying my contract."
