NYC Skins Fans?

Recently moved to NYC (Manhattan) and looking to find some other Skins fans. I also heard that it can be hard to find a sports bar showing anything other than Jets/Giants games, so any advice on where to go to see the Skins would be great. Can't get Direct TV in my apt.

Skins games in NYC??

I'm in the same boat I just moved to Park Slope(Brooklyn) from Foggy Bottom. :frusty:

Try this thread from last week:

I think preseason games might be difficult, but you should find some friendly faces during the season.

ChounsMan 08-18-2005 01:17 PM

Good Luck..! I live in CT & I ordered Direct TV so I could watch all my Skins games w/o the b/s Giants, Jets, & Pats screwing.

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

yyooo. yeah, there's no "DC crowd" bar that i've found living here for 8 years, so i just find a sports bar with all the games. I go to Croxley's Ale on Ave. B and 3rd. good food, 20¢ wings. <---

beware this one Eagle fan tho, he's like a bad Saturday Night Live skit.

My suggestion: Choose a bar and make it your own.

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

The sports bar at the Sheraton New York on 7th Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets in midtown Manhattan shows all NFL games. I watched two Redskins games there last season.

Hey NYC Skins fans. I just moved to the D.C. area after spending 4 years up in NYC. Every Sunday I went to the Park Avenue Country Club on Park Ave. & 25 st. They have big screens showing every single game. Its really nice place, and most importantly, it is cheap. You can either make reservations to save a table for you and some buddies, or you can just head to the bar and watch the game from there. There is a clear view of every game from the bar. Have fun!

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

I've lived in NYC for years--I live in Brooklyn now. The place to watch games in Park Slope is 200 Fifth Ave, just off of Union Street. They have a ton of TVs, a great atmosphere, and a good group of skins fans that shows up every game. There are contingents from lots of teams--we need all the support we can get!

STPainmaker--I definetly recomend checking it out before heading in to Manhattan. The Brooklyn vibe is better, and it sounds like the place is near you.

I'll be going to the games there, though not until game 3--I'll be at the first game, and the second is a Monday night. Lots of skins fans will be there, though.

RiggosRangers--if you can't find a place in Manhattan, you might want to check out Brooklyn as well! Take the R train to Union Street and walk up to 5th Ave.

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have a few places to check out--Sounds like Brooklyn is a good spot so I'll have to make it out there a few times this season.

I'm on the UES, 85th St. off of 2nd Ave.

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

Check this out: there may be a dedicated skins bar in NYC on Lafayette ave and Spring st. link

If this is for real, I'll come in from Bklyn for it. If there is a bar willing to cater to skins fans in NYC (and there are lots of us!), we should rally around it and make it profitable for the bar--and to make it the a serious outpost of DC in NYC. :food-smil

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

No problem--saw it on extreme. I'll start going as well, though probably not until the third game--I'm going to the Chicago game, and the other is a Monday nighter. But maybe I'll come out for the MNF game--if there's a skins bar, I really should represent.

Wonder if they're showing the preseason game? Now that would be seriously awesome.

illdefined--post if you go check it out!

ooop. first AND second game will be nationally televised, may not make out there till game 3 (week4).

i'm so curious though, i'll stop by at least a half for week 1. keep hearing about the burgers there.

let us know what the say ST.

STPainmaker 08-31-2005 01:30 PM

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

I spoke to the person in charge of sports promotion at the Falls. He said they will not be showing the last preseason game tommorow (9/1). However, starting with the Bears game it will be dedicated skins bar, big screen, sound, drink and wings specials as outlined in the site. They are expecting a large showing according to the employee I spoke to.

So there is no game tommorow but the regular season is a go.

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

Thanks ST--can't wait to watch the skins in a dedicated skins bar in NYC. For years, I've been putting up with the local meatheads and iggle and roid fans. Last time I had a serious vibe in an NYC bar was in the 91 SB season. TOO LONG!!!

Re: NYC Skins Fans?

thats great effin news ST. we gotta own that place, can't wait. would love to see a giants fan squirm around in there. excellent teamwork JW and ST, thank you.

Saw it on extreme--LaRou there has been in email contact with The Falls bar--our friend NYC 2005 here is from The Falls, I suppose!

I'm going to opening day at Fed Ex, but looks like there's a big crew from all over NYC going to the Falls. It should rock. If some of y'all go, be sure to post and tell us how it is.

If your'e ever in Jersey City, New Jersey try the Ringside Sportsbar on Tonelle Avenue. It's a lively and passionate crowd with two large screens and sixteen 20" plasma screens. My 7 man crew represent the Redskins every Sunday with the hottest fan gear and passionate chants of "Hail to the Redskins" when we walk in the door! I enjoy it, because fans from all of the teams are there, including the Steelers and bum ass Coward Boys. $3.50 Corona, Heinekens, Coors and the best buffalo wings in Jersey at $6.00.
