Need a memory refresher on Albert Connell..

I was talking about him with someone today and can't remember why he left the Redskins and what happened in N.O. that got him kicked out of the league.. Did he put something in someone's locker or something?

Yeah he took some $$ from a teammates locker, as a joke of course. ;)

He was a thief in N.O. but he was a baller with the skins. This goes to show you, that sometimes you think your leaving somewhere for big money, and big prizes isn't always worth it. You end up coming up in posts as the guy who stole cash outta Deuce McCallister's locker, and is out of the league.:Flush:

I guess that would depend on what his wife looked like.

That was the opener against the Cowboys in what, '98 or '99? I remember that's the game that we lost in OT after having a big lead late.. I used to work with Irving Fryar a few years back and asked him if Matt Stevens (I think that was his name) blew that coverage, he said he always blew coverages and that was just the worst one because it cost them the game.

After the Saints got rid of him AC went to the CFL. For those who think he was really some kind of wonderful WR, he never did nuch of anything there and bounce around to 2 or 3 teams there. Last I heard, he was in Winnipeg or Regina or one of those mid-Canadian icehouses as a #3/#4 WR.

The funny thing about this is he actually played pretty well for us. I'm not saying he was the be all to end all but he seemed to get Norv's philosophy. He was productive and got up and met the ball in the air. He may not have been a great football player but he was a good second receiver for our team.

I hated watching this guy play football. Does anyone remeber Donovan McNabb bitch slapping this guy on his way to the end zone. He really sucked. :vomit-smi

Re: Need a memory refresher on Albert Connell..

Connel was good when the ball was thrown his way but his inability to run a route knowing he was the 3rd or even 2nd option was what got him. He refused to run the routes all the way through, which is always vital in moving the safety. Plus he was a head case. I got onto it with him before a game. I was on the front row as I allways before a game whooping and holloring. I cheer our players and call the ones out that are constantly making mistakes. Conneel approached me and my only question to him was does he actually watch film cause if he did he would see his attrocius route running. Now he did not take to kindly to this (can't blame him) and got in my face. But I think when I said that don't worry by the end of the year you will be packing your bags and leaving with the Redskins other problem on the team. Coach Turner. That really pissed him off but I continued with this till the day he left which was that year.
