Re: Darnerien Done
very classy. Man that is wierd, to here it from him first
Good luck to him, Does that mean Dyson is on the team, if not who is? could it just be these 5? Patten Thrash, Moss, Jacobs, and Brown, maybe farris or dyson? |
Re: Darnerien Done
This is a shame in my opinion. McCants was our only chance at a Redzone threat from the WR position.

i agree, wow, i am now missing him. Do you think anyone will pick him up? last year i was so happy to see him in the Bengals game. I can't believe he wasn't active most of the year. I felt he was a good WR, o well, we have to trust Gibbs |
Re: Darnerien Done
Yeah, it is kind of funny that he "scooped" the media in a way. I'm just trying to figure out who gave him permission to use a very similar version of my fantasy football moniker from last year, Smackaveli, with Dmacaveli and furthermore, he pilfered "Artist" from me as well. Who the hell does he think he is?
|
Re: Darnerien Done
When Dyson dropped that pass and Cooley caught the jump ball I had a feeling we would be seeing McCants and Dyson go so that Rock and Nemo stay.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
kinda sucks, i liked him but i knew gibbs wasnt going to play him, so i guess its for the best

some nerve...... |
Re: Darnerien Done
he'll get on another team, probraly the vikes.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
That's too bad, I liked him (as a player and person). He'll be picked up off the waiver wire within a day or so and play somewhere else. He's a better player than Gibbs is giving him credit for, but oh well.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
As weird as it sounds, don't be surprised to see the Eagles give this guy a shot too.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
I really don't care, his lackadaisical attitude wore on me, not to mention his strange rants on his site.
We've got enough redzone targets. Cooley, Royal, Moss, etc. |
Re: Darnerien Done
6'2...212 lbs vs. 6'3...214 lbs. Kevin Dyson is a red-zone threat as much as McCants. I know McCants made some good plays for us in previous years, but him being in Gibbs' doghouse since last year....it was only matter of time.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
I flat out think McCants sucks. I'm glad he's gone.
I flat out think McCants sucks. I'm glad he's gone.
Why do you dislike him? For a fifth-string wideout, McCants is spectacular. I think he's a decent #4 red-zone threat. I distinctly recall a lot of people compare McCants to Monk last offseason. All of the sudden, he's a a nobody? We didn't see enough of him last season to retract such praise and heap loads of criticism on the guy. |
Re: Darnerien Done
Yeah, it is kind of funny that he "scooped" the media in a way.
The Skins' media machine is probably irked about this. McCants unfiltered, LOL |
Re: Darnerien Done
Really liked him, not suprised by the move, though. I remember him catching that TD pass vs Philly in 2003; and was the only guy that would autograph anything for me at TC 2002. I wish him the best (except when he plays us).
|
Re: Darnerien Done
Never got on-board the GIbbs program. If you don't work in practice, you will not make it on a Gibbs team.
Wonder if Dyson will make it? Gibbs likes him, no doubt, but do we have the room? |
Re: Darnerien Done
As weird as it sounds, don't be surprised to see the Eagles give this guy a shot too.
That's a possible destination considering how thin they are at WR. |
Re: Darnerien Done
His name has popped up on message boards for the Eagles for a few weeks. It wouldn't surprise me.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
Dmac was an untapped resource. we got a glimpse of what he could do with spurrier.
i wish him the best. but the thing that bothers me is there is no loyalty within the organization. we keep getting rid of the true redskins and bringing losers looking to pick up a paycheck. patten, thrash and moss are a given. jacobs, i've lost all hope. dyson??? jesus... darnarien isnt the greatest guy in the world, but he is better than dyson. |
Re: Darnerien Done
its best for him that he got cut, he'll get a chance somewhere else. Gibbs wasnt going to play him, for some reason he just doesnt like playing him
|

It would not surprise me either if the Eagles signed McCants. |

I think the reasons have been pretty well documented. He's not a contributor on special teams even though he gave it a shot this offseason, and he's just not a great practice player. I think Gibbs liked what he saw on film of McCants and that's why he re-signed him... but he obviously wasn't as impressed once he got a look at him up close. |

Re: Darnerien Done
I'm kind of surprised this news isn't on any "mainstream" media sites. Maybe Kevin Dyson hacked www.darnerien.com and posted the story so that DMac wouldn't show up for practice and Dyson would clinch the spot. That Dyson, he's a shifty one
|

frankly that would really suck, just philosophically. i always hate that. plus who knows what language/schemes/tricks he could possibly give em. |
Re: Darnerien Done
darnarien was a guy we drafted, a guy who loved to be a redskin and a guy who played well when he has his opportunities. being a true redskin doesnt mean you ahve to be a superstar.
i think dyson is looking for a paycheck. he was never that good, he is only known for the "music city miracle". hey we all are looking for a decent paycheck but i doubt he is looking to help the team. i honestly wish the best for them both(except if darnarien go to an nfc east team). |
Re: Darnerien Done
I can't believe he actually gave himself all of those retarded a$$ names and that pose on his website.... :laughing2 I liked him a couple years ago but then the stuff started leaking out about his practice efforts, or lack there of, and his inability to play special teams, and his case of the dropsies from time to time just made it come to the point where I just didn't really care what happened to him. We'll be fine without him.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
We will be fine without him. Perhaps better without him if he didn't practice well. Cut out the cancers. I did enjoy him about 3 years ago when he nabbed 5-6 tds in a season, but realistcally he doesn't show the effort that Patten or Moss do. Even a disgruntled Coles played exremely hard with a f'd up toe. This is a business and I'm glad Gibbs takes his business very serious. He'll be with another team within 2 days. Goodluck to him and maybe this will be a lesson to him, although he still thinks he's a singer; bahahahahahahahahhahahaha. Try being good at something you do, practice is a good way to do that!

Re: Darnerien Done
Mind boggling. People are bummed about this? McCants, Gibbs. McCants, Gibbs. Sorry, I got to go with the old man on this one. I am getting old though, so I guess I see things in a different way.

I mean c'mon, DMac has been here for some time and really hasn't been a major contributor. It was time we parted ways. And as far as I'm concerned a true Redskin leaves it all on the field - both practice and on Sunday. We wish him well though. |

I don't see it as a McCants v. Gibbs deal. I back Gibbs on most moves and I defer to him on this one, but I would still have liked to have seen McCants stay in burgundy and gold. He might not have practiced well, but when he was on the field he produced. |

Yeah, I wouldn't call McCants a "core Redskin." It's not a big blow to the team, but his loss wouldn't feel as bad if he was talking trash about the Skins (instead of praising and rooting for them even after he got cut). |
Re: Darnerien Done
frankly that would really suck, just philosophically. i always hate that. plus who knows what language/schemes/tricks he could possibly give em.
What could he give away? He wasn't paying attention in practice. |
Re: Darnerien Done
Bottom line, I think McCant's considered his so called music career more important than football, and that probably came out in his attitude and work ethic. That is probably what got him cut, I am not in love with Dyson by any means, I also feel McCant's is better, but dedication is a big part of winning football, and the last thing Gibbs needs is a lack of dedication, it's very easy for that type of approach to fester throughout the rest of the team, especially if the going get's tough, Gibbs want's players who will fight their way out, not say oh well and go off and cut a record some where.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
ah man, i wish him goodluck somewhere else. i wish we would've cut dyson and kept him, but i have to trust gibbs on this one. i hope he gets a good start somewhere else.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
Jeez.....some of you guys are acting like we cut a future Hall of famer.
Bottom line is McCants wasn't a good practice player, and didn't do much when he was on the field. Like Matty said....his lackadaisical approach grew old on the coaching staff and with some fans. I'm not surprised about this move at all, other than the fact that he went out on the first cuts. |
Re: Darnerien Done
This can be sumed up real easy. If you don't practice you don'y play, if you don't play you can't make play, if you don't make plays you don't make the team. He knew how Gibbs felt from a meeting they had last year and he stated so. He did nothing to impress Gibbs so now hes off the team and he got what was coming. All great player have a great work ethic so how could we expect him to get any better.
|
Re: Darnerien Done
mccants will end up an eagle this week, i'm sure... besides knowing a little of the skins gameplan, he could easily be their #2 WR.
