First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=101&start=20&threadID=2273285&sortBy=null
Just thought this was a little interesting "light reading" for anyone who wants to get pissed off before the first game is even here... |
I feel the bears fans think Kyle Orton is a little better than he is, and that our D is not the real deal. I am a huge Orton fan, my brother and some friends went to Purdue. He is big, tough, strong armed(sound familiar) but if you watched Purdue self destruct last year Orton had some very bad games. If he thought Wisconsin's D was tough he won't know what happened after we get through with him. He will likely find himself with his helmet on backwards, and his uniform in tattered rags. I think Orton has a future but he is going into the Lions den Sept 11th and it will not be pretty.

Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
As I said in a Bears forum, two words: Matt Schaub.
KING of the preseason but he crumbles in the regular season if he's called upon. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
"rookie qb,s vs greg williams defense is like a baby vs a lion. not good "
I love it. I can't believe that some of them are so confident, i am trying not to be too confident but it is hard. I don't see what they can do over us. Both D's are good ours is better, both offenses were bad, our was better. I don't think the score will ever be 24-3 in bears favor. I remeber a little running on our part last year against the bears |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
As do I. They keep acting like the people they had out last year were all future HOFers.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Homerism at its finest... and i thought the Ohio fans were bad! Kyle Orton leads the Bears to a 24-3 victory at FedEx??? Katrina must be heading north, cuz they sure are losing their minds...
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Most definitely. I'm a Skins fan first and foremost, but I'm also a realist. I think that Portis AGAIN runs wild over them. Hell, Portis might run so wild, we'll get to see Betts play the 4th quarter.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
You know, I can take a little bit of shit from fans of decent teams... but the bears??? What the hell. Orton did look decent last week, and I'd like to see what he can do against starters in a game situation, but jesus these guys are more dilusional than a straight boy scout leader. Urlacher is good, but he's overrated. They don't have a secondary either. Our receivers are gonna own them. What a bunch of morons.
I thought I was wearing the glasses... they got coke bottles over there. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
They are maybe the most delusional group of fans I have ever seen. I am not saying we are a vastly better team but I'd say we ought to win this game. Whether we will or not remains to be seen but I like our chances. I like just about anybody's chances aganist the Bears. They are going to compete for the worst team in football again I would believe. Based on talent alone there are at least 25 better teams. And the their coach hasn't ever shown the ability to get a team to play above it's talent level. It's called "face the facts" Bears fans and they ought to learn how to do it.
I thought I was wearing the glasses... they got coke bottles over there.
Yeah they got some serious beer goggles on. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Go deeper into the thread the posts delve further into an alternate reality where Orton is Unitas, and this is the 86 Bears defense. I know the skins have alot of question marks but I mean Lovie Smith?, the chicago bears offense?, rookie QB?,away game? this is crazy.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
They got somethin' over their eyes, thats for sure....
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Seriously! 24-3? Please. That one dude said Thomas Jones will average like 7 ypc and 2 TDS. Whatever. We all are homers at one time or another, but these guys are al ittle overboard.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Are you kidding me?? These guys need to chill on the Madden '86 and fast forward to reality. Wow!!! Delusional!!!
p.s. Is there even a Madden '86:) |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
I hope to god that none of us ever sound that deluded, atleast not when talking to fans of opposing teams. I had planned on not saying anything in there but like TMC, I had to join up and say something about the complete lack of respect, not to mention intelligence. I'm all about hoping my team does its best and blows out everyone but then there's this thing called reality that reminds me that our team's offense has some big steps to take before it becomes a consistent threat to opposing teams.

Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Who wants to bet that I can get kicked out of that site too?!?!
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
"Also for you Skins fans that knock TJ, he was leading the league in yards when Gross got hurt last year. He also rushed for more per carry than Portis."
That is an amazing feat being that Grossman barley played 3 games last year. Also, TJ's 948 yards last year were pretty awsome too... Once the bears have a consistant 1,000 yard rusher and receiver then maybe they will be good... As for Urlacher, what a wast... Once the fat bodies left he went down the tubes in a hurry. Also, your wast of a LB Urlacher did play against us last year, the only way that he could tackle Portis was to face mask him... The best thing that Cedrick Benson could have done was just sat out this year, re-enter the draft and go to a team with a future... |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Those guy's sound just like the saturday night live bears round table with their exaggerations.
Good luck Bear's fans, trust me come sept 11 your gonna need it! |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
They sure are high on Thomas Jones on that board. makes you wonder why the Bears would piss away their 4th overall pick on another RB, especially one they clearly had no contract parameters on.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
wow. and i thought i was a homer. those guys, wow. i laughed my ass off when i read the prediction where some crackhead said we were gonna lose 24-3. that's homerism of the worst kind, they must think they have a defense sent from god. to think their running backs will have a field day on our #1 ranked run defense is laughable. one guy even said our defense wasn't that great, and that the bears defense is much better.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
For some funny reason they think they'll be able to run all over a D that allowed a league best 3.1 yards per carry last year.
Hey, best of luck to them... with a rookie QB going up against a Gregg Williams' led defense, they are really going to need all the luck they can get. With a rookie QB, do they actually think our D is going to respect the pass at all?? How many 8-man fronts do you think they'll see? Probably a few. I hope their offensive line is up to the challenge, because I can see Williams blitzing from every direction. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
As do I. I also see us sacking him so many times, he'll be terrified to hold onto the ball and throw up some picks. LaVar is going to have a field day.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Wow, I thought I was bad...these folks are just in a fantasy world. While I do think the Bears are improved, we are as well and will eliminate the turnovers that plagued our offense last year and win this game late.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
My post on their thread.
Quote from bearsfan8558 "First of all, I'm a Skins fan but I do live in reality. 1) Our offense is unproven, but our offensive line is one of the more dominant ones in the league. Portis will have a field day barring the Bears having a banner day during an AWAY game. I'm sure they'll be up to the challenge, I doubt any backs from both teams will have a banner day, this will be a defensive battle IMO. 2) Yes, you had many starters out last year, but I don't believe the starters who are coming back are enough to make an impact against Portis. I thought you lived in reality ? Urlacher, Brown, O-Gun, and Tillman. LOL 3) Our passing game has been improving steadily since the preseason started, but I'll believe that when I see it. Nice to see you come back down. 5) I too was worried about the Skins overlooking the Bears, but it's opening day so that worry is alleviated momentarily. I don't think the Redskins or the Bears are in any position to overlook any teams at this point. 6) Two words: Matt Schaub. He is living proof that you can be king of the preseason and suck during the regular season. Not to say that Orton won't light it up, but Schaub and Orton have striking similarities. Totally irrelevant. " Really. bearsfan8558 is a Skins fan. That has to be the cleverest screen name ever then. You must really throw people, showing up at Redskins pep rallies with your Urlacher jersey on. The simple truth is that your team may end up pretty good, but they aren't going to start out there. Orton will see defenses that stymied seasoned veterans last year. I wouldn't expect much out of him on Opening Day. He may turn out great, but he's going to have to build his way there. As for Thomas Jones, he's a good back, not a great one. If he was really all that some of the posters here claim he is, why would the Bears waste the 4th overall pick on a RB they obviously had no contract parameters set up with? |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Very nice. Love to see people represent on there. I HATE debating with people who have NO intelligence whatsoever. And he could only name four players?! HA! Our whole defense is high quality.
And how is Matt Schaub irrelevant? It seems DAMN relevant to me. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
it's irrevelant to them. See, they're bears fans, to them their team, combined with a rookie 3rd string qb, and an average running back against our #1 ranked run defense, means they're unstoppable. Oh man, look at this
http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?threadID=2279606 some guy said something about Joe Gibbs and Gregg Williams using truck drivers and plumbers, hmm let me find the quote. "He'll probably do pretty well against the Skins if Joe Gibbs and Gregg Williams decide to play the truck drivers and plumbers that Orton played against in the Bills game. My guess is however that the Skins might put at least a couple of starters out there. " |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Hahahaha, that's pretty funny.
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
truck drivers and plumbers, lol that's great!
|
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
That was hilarious!!!
OK, the Bears are an NFL team with a good D, so they are not to be overlooked, but come on! They say you can't use last year's Bear team as a comparison to this year's, but they go ahead and do just that with the Redskins who have a different QB, WR's, etc. and also have starters on D returning from injury. What a bunch of morons! |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
I think those guys have brain tumors from too much sausage intake. What morons. I also look back to last year's giants team when looking at the bears O this year--rookie QB (first overall pick to boot), OK receivers, pretty good running back (better than TJ), good D, and shockey which the bears don't have--and what did they do last year? Nothing. We killed them once and we should have one the first one if not for the turnovers. The only team in recent memory that's done really well with a rookie QB is Shittsburgh, and I don't think we're going to see that again this year, especially not with Orton and the bears. So far this year, it looks like we've improved in just about every area. We may not blow the bears out, but I definitely feel good about a win. I'm going to be in chicago that sunday on business unfortunately and I'm definitely going to be packing the jersey.:headbange

Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
The only thing that we really know about opening day is that two teams that were good on defense and bad on offense are playing. The team that won last year has home field advantage. The team with home field advantage also won last year.
Also, last years losing team will be starting a rookie third round QB against last years 3rd best defense. Predictions? Conclusions? Anyone??? |

Honestly, I would be suprised if we didn't beat the Bears by at least 17. I know that's optomistic, but I'm not impressed with them at all. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
it's kind of sad how they see themselves being a playoff threat while being led by 2 rookies, one of which hasn't even suited up yet and another who has been playing against the backups and the backups of the backups, and an old wr who as I posted there before last year had only averaged 49 catches, 793 yards, and 3 1/2 tds a year. and the witty comebacks of "You and the Redskins suck." are priceless :biggthump .

Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
We'll see how Mushin does this year. He had a lot more help around him in Carolina, including a better defense, IMO. He doesn't have the same caliber QB, nor the same weapons in the backfield to keep the defense honest. I don't see us having any problems keeping him in check. It's going to be to fun watching their "elite" rookie QB get blitzed by Sean Springs all day:)
I was watching the Cedric Benson interview after he signed and I didn't get the impression he was excited about suiting up for the Bears.....but that's just me. |
Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
i think benson's shelf life has been seriously shortened by the amount of carries he had in college- they ran him into the ground. i also think that's why he was the last holdout in the first round; he wanted the guaranteed money just in case. he's probably not too excited suiting up for Chicago b/c they're probably planning on running him just as much as they did at UT for the next few seasons.

Re: First game preview: Redskins vs. Bears
Bears fans will never get over Darrell Green's punt return at Soldier field in the playoffs.
The Bears DE's are really good, but neither one in over 265lbs. There's gonna be a whole lot of handoffs in that game. |

This year will be similar, except our offense will tear it up as well. I think the Skins will score close to 30 points, while the Bears will have a hard time finding the end zone. |
