[b]Five teams that'll be just awful[/b]




[b]1. 49ers —[/b] The team was ready to make the first overall pick in this year's draft, Alex Smith, its starting quarterback. That is, until the guy who the 49ers were looking to replace clearly outplayed Smith in the preseason. Now, Smith will have to learn from the sidelines, which isn't an ideal place for a team clearly in rebuilding mode. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are NFL teams. There's a long way to go to repair this once-proud franchise.


[b]2. Dolphins —[/b] Given the opportunity to select the best quarterback in the draft besides Alex Smith, Miami opted to pick a running back. With Ricky Williams returning from his bizarre off-season of finding himself (smoking cannabis) and holistic healing, the Dolphins now seem to have an embarrassment of riches at running back. Well, that'll only be the case when Williams is done serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. When Williams comes back, the Dolphins could be 0-4. This is because of the team's complete lack of quality at the quarterback position. Miami continues to struggle to fill that spot with anybody good since the retirement of Dan Marino.


[b]3. Browns —[/b] Much of this team's hope vanished when Kellen Winslow went joy-riding on a motorcycle. Romeo Crennel is on board as the new head coach, but it's going to take some time for him to eliminate the garbage that contributed to this team's 4-12 debacle of a year ago. In reality, the Browns are essentially starting over for the third time in the team's new seven-year history. That's a lot of transition, and Browns fans are crossing their fingers hoping that Crennel and Cleveland is the combination that will finally work out.


[b]4. Titans —[/b] The days of Tennessee-as-playoff regular are long over. Steve McNair is still chucking passes, but this team has little hope in the loaded AFC South. Unfortunately, the glory days of 1999-2003 have caught up to the Titans, and the team gave into its salary cap woes and came to terms with the league's money management system. This team has clearly entered the dreaded "rebuilding" mode.


[b]5. Redskins —[/b] The NFL Joe Gibbs returned to last season is very different from the NFL he left after the 1992 season. Safety Sean Taylor couldn't stay out of trouble and linebacker Lavar Arrington can't stay healthy. Those two are Washington's best players. Elsewhere, Redskins fans long for a day when starting quarterback Patrick Ramsey is carrying a clipboard.

Yea, under the radar! and like I saw in an earlier post, "I hope all this stuff is getting posted in the skins locker room". One thing (and I don't have his lifetime stats in front of me) I am shocked, about the Cowboys. The media is acting like Bledsoe is the second coming of Elway. There is a reason he has been looking for work off and on for the last few years. As we all know, he has a rocket arm. He can post lots of yards. The problem is he throws lotsa INT's. LOTs of them. Always at the worst possible time. He can't carry the big game.

They have had a great D for the past 3 years of so and what has it got them? Zip. They need to be great on both sides of the ball and it seems as if the O still has a ways to go.

When they did not list SeanT as a rising player that is not a rookie that said it all. Yep dumb old Gibbs can learn how to run race team in a few years but he ant smart enough to come back and coach a football after missing 11 years. Then there's Parcells I never heard that the game past him by after last season and going backwards.

I think all the negative buzz is actually a good thing. Honestly.

These are the types of things that they will put up in the locker room and it will really do two important things:

1. Bring the Redskins closer together as a team.
2. Put a big chip on their shoulder.

In 4 days my friends it won't matter and if these reporters are right then we will lose against the bears and we then will lose to the cowgirls. Lets just see what happens, I love opening sunday. It is the best day of the year, unless ofcourse the redskins are not playing on that day. This sunday. This sunday we start our season.

I think that after ONE year of a great defense it's a little early to say that we can just plug players in. Comments like those are usually reserved for established defenses, which we aren't -- yet. The only continuity that defense has is the record of how Greg Williams defenses have faired over the year, but he's never really lacked impact players. He has some here, luckily!

This said, I don't think that the media has a huge bias against us. I don't believe all the crap that these guys spew, but is it possible that maybe we're slightly blinded by our loyalty? I think the biggest change this system comes with a more aggressive Joe Gibbs. If we see an aggressive, mean-streak Gibbs then we'll be much improved. He needs to blow the Bears out to show teams he means business. We need to establish some sort of offense, we seemed to lack the nail in the coffin which teams need. Even two TDs isnt a safe lead.

I think our WRs are a downgrade, but they'll fit the build of what Gibbs wants to do. If they can be serviceable and try to get a few people out of the box, they've done their job. I look forward to the new plays and a stronger Clinton Portis, I REALLY like how our starting line has looked. This is the biggest suprise to me, and the reason I think we should get more respect. The defense is enigmatic. Not sure how they're going to react, Im WORRIED about the CB / DB position. I don't know if Harris is good enough, I dont know if Rogers is ready, and if Springs goes down we're toast. I also wonder if the defensive line can play to the same standard they did last year. We had quite a few over-acheivers (compared to their lifetime stats) on defense last year. Hopefully that's going to be a constant. I'll feel much more confident in our defense after one more year of a great showing.

The most important thing to me is how much progression our young guys: Taylor, Cooley, Dockery, Ramsey, Royal, and the rookies were able to make in the offseason. Either way, IM PUMPED FOR SUNDAY!

He also has been sacked 402 times in only 172 games with 92 fumbles vs parcells last savior of a quarterback, Testaverde, who had been sacked 396 times with 62 fumbles in 217 games.

All I can say is "that's why we play the games".

Speculation is just that. The truth is that the Bears were pretty good a couple of years back and I think they might return to form. That said, I don't think anyone should expect a rookie QB to win his first game against the 3rd best defense in the league.

It's funny to see the so called experts report on the skins and then read what some of the guys that have played for him (Joe T) say when they see the skins. It's like you have to be an insider to truely understand the bottle of woop ass that is about to be opened.

I like how the reporter said that Taylor and LA are our two greatest players. Interestingly enough, LA hardly contributed to the success of the defense last year, so how they could even say he one of our two best defensive players bewilders me. Especially when they don't mention a M.Washington, C.Griff and a few others. And they constantly throw up Taylor's name with these off-field challenges as if they have affected his play - when clearly the guy is super focused. Anyone within twenty miles of Redskins Park knows this.

I guess when we pound the Bears, then they'll backpeddle, like they usually do and say," oh Kyle Orton is a rookie, or if they had Grossman things would be different....or some other BS.

honestly no one outside the area thought of the skins as anything and no one expected a first year coach with ferotte at QB was heading to a 9-7 record (after what? a 1-6 start? midseason they still looked terrible).
