as u should having just barely beat a team without it's best recieving threat ;). of course we don't have a lot to toot our horn about despite playing a bit of a better defense than ur team did today. But when these 2 teams meet, u can pretty much throw out the window anything that either team has done that year cuz both teams will pull out all the stops to win.

Yup...on my home board, I just nominated Chargers GM AJ Smith for a game ball..

As shocking as it is too many, our offense is ahead of the defense thats for sure

I should specify though...our pass defense---Tomlinson 19 for 72 and a TD

Thankfully, your passing game is right around where it was last year

We're gonna allow some big plays on D but we're gonna make some big plays

Coverage teams are a real area of concern

No way

I think you're in store for a very unpleasant evening

We're not the bears offensively and your offense..well..to be nice is a work in progress

I think whomever starts @ QB for you guys is going to help expedite the growth and confidence of our defense

Re: It's official...It's Dallas/Skins week

la73hof,

I'm sure that you can find plenty of Redskins fans who overestimate our team's capabilities. However, I think that you are among those Cowboys fans that overestimate your own team's capabilities.

Bledsoe is not a Pro-Bowler. The Patriots wisely let him go. The Bills dumped him when they realized that they were better off with a rookie. The Cowboys will be sick of him by the end of the season.

I perhaps overestimated your team's defenses. They didn't look as good as I thought they would - and the Chargers were playing without one of their best offensive weapons (Antonio Gates). I respect your defense, but I nonetheless may have overestimated their capabilities (I reserve judgment until after Week 5).

Our defense is better than the Chargers defense (in both scheme and personnel). If your team scores 28 points I will eat my own turds.

While our offense has its problems, don't act like you just won the Super Bowl. Last I checked, your team was 6-10 last season and is 1-0 this season....just like us.

:dallas:

Well, could be. I'm not going to sit here and say that we're going to light you guys up... But I think it will be a great game. I think with Ramsey in the game, we score 28. I'm going to predict 17 points for "ya'll." But we'll see. I wish I could have a little more balls, but three field goals hasn't exactly driven up my confidence. If Brunell starts, I don't like our chances... I wish it was 3 weeks into the season so we could have some perspective on exactly how good that Chicago D was... I know they're not the '85 variety so three field goals was pathetic by anyone's standards. We have to, and will, do better...

Congrats on your win la73hof..........although Bledsoe had a rather nice walk in the park because the Chargers D didn't really put the pressure on. I think it will be a different story when you play the Redskins.
I see the o line play as one of the keys as to who will win this game.
I thought your team's D did fairly well and your guys really put the pressure on Brees on that last drive. I think our defense is also up to the challenge, but how our offense plays......well, we will see. Portis did run well. Picture speedster Sean Taylor as a WR......and Moss is as fast as advertised .........

Are ya ready for some football come next Monday....HELL YES!!!

Im sorry..I must have missed something with my last post..

All I said is I feel very good about our chances

I dont believe I came off like this:

http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=7718

Why do I feel good about our chances?

1) We can stop the run as evidenced by Tomlinson's performance today...

2) Our biggest weakness is our pass defense, specifically Keith Davis and Newman. Judging the performance of either of the 2 Redskin's QB's I do not feel you teams offense will be able to exploit our weakness

3) Our WR's are the real deal. SD decided to take out all-pro TE Witten and Keyshawn and Crayton made them pay

Price hasnt even seen the field yet.

4) Our OL, while still a work in progress, played well for the most part. Julius Jones ran for 93 yards against a very highly rated Chargers defense...he out rushed LT and out run D last year was worse than aweful

5) I do believe our KO and punt return teams could provide your team some success there

fire away...be back tomorrow

To la73hof

I think your points are good, and in general have felt the cowboys fans on this site have been cool. You may just want to chill a bit because its a skins site and there is no reason to act like an arse. If you do you'll just get banned and thats just not smart. I like having the site open to all fans because its interesting to see what people think in general.

Highly rated Chargers defense??????.........last year they ranked 18th.....BELOW even the Cowboys last year.....Redskins were ranked 3rd in the NFL.....although we had some minor changes.....loss of Smoot, I like Rogers better, and we also lost Pierce, but Marshall's play seems adequate

AND you were helped by those 3 third down penalties that resulted in an automatic first down for the Boyz......

la73hof,

That was actually quite smart of you to compare your posts to that Bears fan's. I was only half-serious in my previous post. Perhaps I misinterpreted your post as being a little too much akin to trash talking. In any event, I think the game will be close primarily because of our defense. I do not think that the Boys will score anything near 28 points (17 is more like it). I think that our running game is much better than you might think. I think that our offensive line is much better than you might think. My prediction......Cowboys 17, Redskins 14. I gave you three points because it is taking place in Dallas on a Monday night. Otherwise, I say it's a draw.

Re: It's official...It's Dallas/Skins week

Ok I actually didn't saw that much of the skins game I don't know what happend to ramsey if someone can post I only saw him injured on the sideline as I predicted it was a close low scoring game that the redskins should and won. I'm really upset because I lost 150 bucks because even though i thought it would be close and low scoring I really thought your team could win for more than 4 points that was my spread.

My take on both teams

Was.- your D step up as we tought but it held a really bad offense, it looked agresive it looked strong but a 9 -6 win to a really bad chicago offense should raise some eyebrows when you face tougher competition. I didn't saw a lot of change in gibbs offense portis ran great today (you shouldn't feel so bad about losing Coles he droped like 3 clear TD pases today).

Dal our offense for first time in many years looked great 4 from 4 in the read zone our D got me worried they controled the running game but our secondary had 2 many holes in the middle Henry and williams played great, Newman and davis played bad, Ware put some presure but he has to get better on the run game 2 scores where achieve on a domination on his side.

In both teams I saw a lot of team effort and courage they both had their back againsnt there back in many ocations and they both did what they had to to take the win.

Prediction I feel we have a more balanced team and beat better competition this week the offense looked great the d can get better if your offense doesn't wake up next monday I believe it would be a cowboys win it will be close like almost always are.

Anoter thing how bad was ramsey injury and who would be your qb next week or who would you like?

I don't know about you but I was suprise with this wins (caps set winner) MIA vs den, SF vs stl, NYG vs ari (just the blowout), NO vs car, TB vs min ( Culpepper sucked big time), and was suprised of how good Losman and Palmer played in their respective teams.

Good assesment. Dallas O looked strong, very strong. If you didn't catch it the bears D was very good, and Ramsey got a brutal clothesline to the neck and his head was driven into the ground. Likely a fine this week.
The jets getting pounded was baffling also.
About Ramsey playing next week, I think it'll be him.

Re: It's official...It's Dallas/Skins week

If Bledsoe is comfortable, he's a good QB. Doubt we'll let him get as comfortable as he was today. (Agree about the previous comment on the Chargers D. They are not the stregnth of the team, to put it mildly...)

Those defensive penalties by the chargers on third downs were sort of like turnovers, IMO.

Still, I have no doubt the roids will be favored in the line, but that's as it should be, given our 9 points and the fact that the game is in God's toilet bowl.

We'll see! Gonna go out on a limb and predict the skins will score more than 9 points. Will the roids get 28 againts us? I doubt it. So it will be a good one.

Re: It's official...It's Dallas/Skins week

I think dallass had a better showing against a better team today, but gates probably would have changed the outcome... The D in big D ain't amazing (especially against the pass), but what can you expect with 3 rookies? I think over the year they'll get better and will have a chance to land in the top 15 this year. The offense looked good overall... the chargers made stupid mistakes on defense (I don't think we'll blow 3 3rd downs like that) and they didn't force bledsoe into bad decisions, which is the key to beating the dallas offense.

I think dallas will probably be favored, but I think we have a real shot if we avoid the turnovers and fix our blocking in the return game.

NM Redskin 09-12-2005 02:48 AM

Re: It's official...It's Dallas/Skins week

The D will get pressure on Bledslow. Williams KNOWS Bledslow and is gonna make him pay. Also our special teams is better(if hall is healthy). I see us winning a close def battle based on superior field position.

To any and all posters on this topic:

This is an emotional week for us all. To la73hof and D'BOYZ, while you have both been level-headed posters and welcome additions to this forum, fuses here are going to be short this week. Though by no means do I excuse any aggressive posts toward you personally, you should expect to hear wicked, nasty things about your team. Should you feel personally insulted or attacked by a poster here, please don't allow the problem to escalate to the point where fans of either team get banned.

To my fellow Redskins fans: we here at thewarpath.net (and that includes you) pride ourselves on being a place for "Redskins Discussion for the Knowledgable Fan". Though I disagree with la72hof and D'BOYZ about a lot of things - primarily who they root for on Sundays, they've done nothing to raise our ire - these guys aren't that great Bears spokesman "FORESKINS GO DOWN". Should you feel personally insulted or attacked them or any other posters here, please don't allow the problem to escalate to the point where fans of either team get banned.

Finally, a plea to people who aren't fans of either team. Precisely what are you doing here? This isn't some coffee clatch where we knit tea cozies. Get thee to some other website, and never darken our hand towels again.

For me, the game comes down to these battles:

#1. Redskins blitz packages against Cowboys pass blocking vs. Cowboys blitz packages against Redskins pass blocking

#2. Big plays for the Redskins (Moss/Portis/Cooley) vs. big plays for the Cowboys (Johnson/Jones/Witten)

#3. +/- turnover stats

I give a wash in both #1 and #2. I plan to see some pressure on both QBs and a few big plays from the skill positions. The game should be won or loss on turnovers. Which defene can create them and which offense can limit them.

i was at qualcomm sunday and was impressed with the roids... that being said, if we have protection monday night, the qb should find holes. since we're counting on portis for monday night, the coaching staff will definitely be pouring over tape this week. the most impressive thing about the cowboys was their ability to keep LT in check for most of the game. the chargers were missing gates, but LT is still LT. Their D was pretty solid in the tackling department as well- parcells seems to have drilled the fundamentals of body tackling into their skulls b/c there weren't many missed ones.

our DL is just about the best run stopping line there is. Our pass rush is lacking, but so far it hasn't been much of a problem.

RIght now, I really dont expect to win this game. If we put on a piss poor offensive performance again, which in my opinion Sunday way, we dont even stand a chance. I think our D can hold Dallas to 14-17 points, but I'm not confident that our offense can score that much.

I agree with you on this 1 if your Offense still doesn't show up it would be hard to take the game. I believe our team is much improved from last year 2 skins wins we've showed a lot more offense 4 out 4 in the red zone that was amazing.

For you to win it not only ddepends in your offense but you need to create more presure and turnovers you held chicago to 6 points an almost wasn't enough let's see wich of the two qb statues gets the better game.

Right now I'm leening foward our team because of what we've seen of both teams, it's a home game and you haven't won there since the civil war and the fact it's monday night and we love those. But hey you still have to play the game ask denver and stl lol
