Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

The Redskins are #26, last among all of our divison rivals. It must be real easy to hate on them skins right about now.

I tend not to put to much stock into lists like these even though people love to read them. However I must say that the QB switch does make the Skins look bad and a mild win over the Bears isn't all that impressive. The real crime on that list is the Jets being 18th. They have nothing that impresses me and got their clock cleaned this weekend.

hmm, were we 26th before this came out? either way, i don't care. let them think what they want.

Dallas Number 8!!!! And Newyork Jumps 8 Spots

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

We can't expect a jump after a listless performance against Chicago. If the skins beat dallas and then are ranked 26, my feathers will be ruffled. The Skins need to earn their respect before we sit here and demand it...

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

we earned that 26 this week :( we need to beat at least one good team before we can make a jump.

We only scored 9 points--what do ya expect?

Our D is great, our O isn't--ESPN isn't going to assume we're about to break out, that's for sure.

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

what do you expect? the offense is suddenly starting over with the worst QB in the NFL last year. how would you rank that?

RedskinRat 09-13-2005 03:49 PM

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

I'd expect to be higher based on our D alone however I'm sure things will shake out by mid-season.

check out nfl.com's power rankings. they have us at dead last in terms of middle of the pack, #22 to be exact. better than espn by a long shot.

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

These rankings are so meaningless. So many teams jumped a lot of spots either up or down based on ONE game. I dont even know what they are supposed to mean. Are the Jags suddenly the 7th best team in the league and the Vikings the 13th after being #4 a week ago? No one should get caught up in these rankings or take them seriously at all.

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

I don't really have a problem with the Skins being ranked at #26 so much as I have a problem with the Cowboys being ranked so HIGH. Yes, our offense didn't play great, but the Cowboys DEFENSE didn't play lights out either.

They ranked us a little high, that ranking must have come out before they new Brunell was starting.

they listed it alphabetically they said, so we might be anywhere from 13-22

sometimes you just have to get your head out of your ass and realize that being a die hard skins fan doesnt make the team any good. We could have easily lost that game, to the freaking bears...Im pretty sure all the teams ranked ahead of us have the right to brag about the fact that they scored a touchdown...

Our offense and defense could both be the best in the league. The QBs we have arent as bad as our stats show. The playcalling is downright horrible and Gibbs needs to stand up and admit that what he is doing sucks and he needs to make some changes.

I agree with a lot of what you said, and if this was sarcasm, please correct me, but this offense could NEVER be the best in the league, especially with Brunell at the helm. At best it will be average.

mooby 09-13-2005 08:31 PM

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

i think brunell will be solid, but not spectacular, in the following weeks. people say look at how many yards he threw against the bears, but what they forget is that he didn't throw that many passes vs. them either.

We allowed the least amount of points. That counts for something. This team is looking more and more like the Ravens of 2000.

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

To be honest, I wouldn't mind us being ranked last. Why? So when(or if) we start kicking ass, we can have even more bragging rights and more people will be focused on us. And if we turn out to be a dud, we are already in last place. No point in being ranked high and can't back it up.

Yeah except the Ravens d of 2000 scored a helluva lot of points off turnovers, which is why they won games.

Re: Power Rankings Week 2 ESPN

While I in now way expect the skins to be suddenly put in the top 16 or something , even though they are one of the 16 teams with a win right now, they should at the least be put ahead of the eerily similar Ravens, who lost, the Jets who looked absolutely pathetic, and lost, the Rams who lost to the 49ers, THE 49ERS!!!, and the dismal Broncos who lost to FREAKIN MIAMI!!!!

but like others have posted, this type of stuff doesn't really matter, but it does show what teams some people like to suck up too early on and sitting at the back of a few teams' bandwagons, so they can jump off easily when they need to.

detroit allowed 3 points, and last i checked, 3 is less than 7 ;)

I thinkt he 2000 ravens had more pressure up front and scored a lot more points.

we all know we are going to beat the number 8 team on monday so we are garanteed a jump to 16:)

Power ratings after the first week, kind of meaningless. Anyway I think we are where we should be all things considered.
