There here..... DR. Z's power rankings

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/dr_z/09/21/ranks.week2/index.html

Is this guy really this much of a joke....

he has the Dolphins ahead of us after losing to the team he had at #30 last week.

Then he has the JETS moving up from 30 to 14 because they beat the dolphins...

:biggthump good one!!

I love how all the reporters say the Skins fans are the most vocal e-mailers. I guess we have the most organized online contingent around. Keep it up guys.

DR Z needs to wake up, before he hits that tree

Vic Carucci on NFL.com has us ranked # 8, and has all the NFC East as contenders for playoff spots. Though we know it is impossible for all of us to make the playoffs he recognizes that the NFC East may be back after this year.

what a difference a Moss makes huh? glad we got our very own.

dunno why you guys look at these silly rankings tho. they're as meaningless as Madden's commentary praising whatever team happens to be winning.

18 sounds about right for us right now. unless our offense can consistantly be productive

These rankings are useless. Don't know why anyone gets upset over it. He as much as tells you they are meaningless by saying he wanted to put Dallas ahead of Washington. I love the Boys, but they just lost to the Skins, how can they get ranked higher than them at this point? At the end of the year definately, but not now.

cause 0-2 or 1-1 to the skins obviously means they're better :P

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. This stuff is meaningless, and I really couldnt give two craps about them. That last sentence though...we have differing opinions.

We're halfway to his idiotic prediction of 4 wins for the season!

What a jerkoff.

Re: There here..... DR. Z's power rankings

First off, these rankings mean nothing but 18 is not a totally unfair placement. The skins are 2-0 but they have not exacty lit the league on fire. They have 2 wins by a total of 3 points. How much higher should we expect to be ranked? The only teams ranked higher that I would argue with are Seatle & Miami, but that would put them a 16 so what's the big deal...
For 55 minutes against the Cowboys they were in danger of dropping a few spots from their lowly 23rd position. For five minutes they achieved a five-spot raise. Skins fans, I know you're the most spirited of all the e-mailers, but please take all this into consideration before you draft your latest round of rips.
and
Yeah I know, the law of supply and demand, or maybe it's diminishing returns, or stationary bodies, mandates that I keep this team beneath the one that beat it. If I had any guts, I'd put Dallas higher than Washington, anyway, and face up to the cries of bloody murder I'd be hearing from Pennsylvania Ave.
This to me is a great compliment to us as a fan base - and I think in his sarcastic sense of humor it is intended as such...or at the least a recognition of being good fans.

As goofy as he is I still like him alot better Len (the-Skins-won-so-I-just-won't-write-about-it) Pastabelly.

And thanks for the compliment Dr Z :)

Z, Pasta, King, Sally Jenkins... they're all useless. I don't even bother reading their crap anymore.

The only 'outsider' who holds any weight is Clayton. He stays objective for the most part.

agreed. Clayton is all bookworm and has no inflated 'writer persona' he's feels he needs to maintain. just the facts.

I wish he didn't reek so much of nerd, but he's definately one of the better analysts, though RJ is pretty good too.

Dr. Z's power rankings are meaningless, however I must comment he is a bitch for letting our emails get to him. Any respect I have for this guy (which was very little) just shrunk.

Fox Sports we have a ten place leap:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings

With the usual reservations.

However it's worth reading the # 18 team critique:

Good grief, did you see what happened on “Triplets Night” in the Big D? Less than five minutes from a dominating shutout, the ‘Boys lost in stunning fashion and nearly made Jerry Jones come out of his facelift. Instead of watching the bandwagon start filling up after a 2-0 start, Dallas will hear about a “Schottenheimer-esque” conservative second-half offense and the whispers about hard-hitting safety Roy Williams’ ability (or lack thereof) in pass coverage.

Re: There here..... DR. Z's power rankings

most of the power rankings that ive seen has us either 16,17 or 18. If we win again, we'll jump up. Our offense might be dismal for a while still but if we win with out defense then you we'll still go up the rankings. The standings are more important anyways. Its easier to rank a team higher with a great offense than defense. Offense is more exciting, we are boring to watch when we have the ball right now but the D is keeping us in the game and we are finally making some highlight real plays with moss' catches, portis' 40 yd run, etc.
