Arrington start?
I haven't had a chance to do my research. Is Lavar finally going to get the nod?
|
Re: Arrington start?
Not that I have heard. Holdman will still start.
|
Re: Arrington start?
What about Walt Harris? He was having calf muscle problems. Is he starting? Either way I bet we see a healthy dose of Rogers today.
|
Re: Arrington start?
I believe Rogers is going to get the start today.
|
Re: Arrington start?
Harris is likely out...Rogers will get the start.
|
Re: Arrington start?
Out? Christ. Who's the nickle back? Uh-Oh Jimoh? Their 3 receiver sets could turn into a problem.

exactly what i am worried about. |
Re: Arrington start?
I think we're going to send a lot more pressure today to help out our DBs.
|
Re: Arrington start?
IT's gonna be Springs and Rogers starting today, I do believe
|
Re: Arrington start?
LaVar better get some damn time today.

Espeically in nickleback situations, I'd feel better with LaVar in there getting some extra rush and penetratoin. |

man i hope so. I need to see him play. his jersey is my lucky jersey. I wore it at the chicago game and put it on during the 4th quarter of the dallas game. It is gonna be put on at exactly 12:55 and will not be taken off till after the game gman that is a good point, i hope he does get there in those situations, Lavar has a good chance of going out and playing a pass rusher type of role moreso than his linebacker role |
Re: Arrington start?
i hope to see more of arrington today! with harris out is it really jimoh that will see more playing time? whats going on at safety opposite taylor, will it be bowen to get the time/?
go skins!!!!!!!! can't wait |
Re: Arrington start?
where the hell was he today? are they just benching him cuz they don't like him? wtf, i seriously want to see him get some PT.
|
Re: Arrington start?
lavar said to reporters it isn't a health issue and the team asked him to do kick coverage, which he refused... why does he get such a huge contract just so he can be benched?
|
Re: Arrington start?
I dont know but this is Fing rediculous. I'm extatic that we won and I really like what I saw from the offense today, but not having arrington back there is a major hinderance. He's the best linebacker we've got and one of the best in the league, and he's not even the backup pass rusher. You're telling me Chris Clemons is better than Lavar Arrington?? I don't understand it and I don't like it. If they're trying to save money by keeping him healthy for a trade (my opinion), I'm gonna be severely disappointed. Even with a great D (not quite as good as last year from what I've seen) we dont make big plays. Thats because we dont have big playmakers on the field. Many teams are opening up the underneath routes because they want to stay away from ST & co. to avoid the big play and they're throwing at clemons, marshall, and holdman. I think LA makes teams game plan differently and gives us the opportunity to open up games.
|
Re: Arrington start?
as do i. i want to see more packages suited for him because he's too good to be benched. i don't know what the huge deal is, why are they showing so much hate towards him?
|
Re: Arrington start?
LaVar is losing a lot of incentive money sitting out. If this keeps up I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for a trade before the trade deadline or at the end of the season.
|
Re: Arrington start?
I agree with the idea that on third and long this guy has to be in there. I mean let him dance around the line of scrimmage on third and long the line audibles will be going crazy to pick him up. I can't understand it he is the fastest LB, and very strong. He is suited for a blitzing "D". If this isn't injury related we need to see if Lavar can get it done on the field. WTF Grg Williams?????
|
Re: Arrington start?
The defense could have used his help in the 2nd half today. Good thing we got the ball first or we may have lost the way Seattle was moving the ball on us.
Hopefully we get some explanation really soon abut this. |
Re: Arrington start?
Maybe they just don't want to take the risk of sending him back in too early.
You know what happened the last time they did that -- Arrington made an issue out of it with the media. The Skins are damned if they play him, and damned if they don't. Who cares. We're winning without him, and that's all that matters right now. If, God forbid Marcus Washington, Warrick Holdman, or Lemar Marshall goes down to injury, that's one hell of a backup player we have waiting. |
Re: Arrington start?
lavar and patrick ramsey could both be traded this off season, that could be how we get our first round pick back, which we used to get jason campbell.

I was discussing this point with a friend of mine tonight. Lavar's performance has not gotten particularly better and some team would certainly give up a first round draft pick because he would essentially be healthy going into the offseason. Holdman has played good enough to keep his position and Arrington has made a difference when he's on the field. Ramsey and Arrington are the first on the chopping block. I see Gibbs going after a young DT and big TE on the offseason. |
Re: Arrington start?
I thought that the reporters at the game said that he doesnt fit into many packages.
Is it true that maybe he simply can't buy into a scheme? I've always gotten the vibe that It's all about LaVar from him. He wants to freelance, he wants to be a star, he wants to get more for his jerseys than any other player. While LaVar makes some huge plays he can often be caught out of position which can really hurt our team. I feel Greg Williams knows best what to do with him and if he doesn't fit in, oh well. I also seriously doubt this is a trade scheme. I'm no crazy cannuck but I don't think a trade is even POSSIBLE with his contract anytime within the next five years. |
Re: Arrington start?
exactly we can't trade him and we can't use him. Is it possible for him to give back our cap penalty and us be able to trade him??? also he does have that thing in his new contract about 2 Probowls that he could leave. Now we wouldn't have to pay the cap penalty if he opts to leave, but the only problem is he has to play before he makes the probowl

Please trade him to Dallas!!!! I don't know why he doesn't buy into Greg Williams scheme, but he can PLAY, no doubt. You will regret getting rid of him, but if he just won't fit into a system that is doing great then...... |
Re: Arrington start?
The defense was really good without Lavar last year, and continues to play really well this year because they're playing as a team and not allowing one or two stars to get what is theirs..so to speak! I do want Lavar back in there..I think he's a special player, but we are doing quite well without him so far.

tell big JJ to pay for his cap penalty and i'll be all for it. But who do we want from you.... |
Re: Arrington start?
I think everyone goes through their struggles, including Arrington. He just has to realize that he is part of a team and not just an individual component. I love Lavar, but I am a little disappointed in what appears to be a little bit of selfishness. I hope everything works out because the team needs the type of emotional leadership that he provides.
Lavar needs to be a team player regardless of the circumstances and what he has gone through in the past. |
Re: Arrington start?
The defense has been pretty solid without Lavar, but I think we miss the turnovers and game changing ability he brings when he steps on the field.
In an interview with Greg Williams on the Skins website, he said he doesn't draft people or get trades to fit in to any particular scheme. He said he adapts to whoever he has on the field. So, I am confused as to why they wouldn't think Lavar would fit in. |
Re: Arrington start?
LaVar will work his way back in to the mix, right now there's no rush.
|
Re: Arrington start?
This trend about LaVar not being system oriented has been running it's turbelence for quite some time now dating back to the time Marvin Lewis was coaching the defense. While he may have supporters, he also has detractors, and there must be some substance to the claims that keep him out of the line-up aside from injury. Perhaps there are issues related to personality more so than performance that is his handicap because we all know GW prefers disciplined players to run a disciplined scheme, and it has been noted on more than one ocasion that LaVar prefers to (at times) run his own schemes and it contributes to his lack of playing time. He needs to get himself in position where he is physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to play the game the way the coaches want him to play. Until he does that, maybe we won't be seeing a lot of LaVar.

The way things are going Dallas is going to have a REAL good draft position. |
Re: Arrington start?
I think Lavar will be playing soon, remember that GW doesn't care who you are, how much money you make...ect ect. Sean Taylor didn't start during the preseason because he wasn't at offseason workouts. ofcourse it isn't LA's fault that he did not practice(well actually Lavar blamed the team for putting him in to early so we can just blame the team) but he will have to earn his way back. Just a few more weeks

Re: Arrington start?
I too think it's a matter of time before LA get's back. I think the stuff the media is reporting are little tid-bits of stuff here and there taken out of context.
I can't imagine benching a guy with, what $68 mil. contract?? C'mon? |
Re: Arrington start?
I think when you play the Broncos and Chiefs, you have to have Lavar in more packages. He would attract double teams when rushing the passer, and free up others (griffin, salave'a, boschetti, etc.) to get sacks. Not getting any pressure on Plummer or Green would be scary.
I'm not sold on the defense this year, as yet - they're good, but not as good as last year. |
Re: Arrington start?
Much of what's being said about LaVar and his lack of playing time is not media related. It's not coming from the Media, it's coming from the coaches and espically his position coach. While many of us may not understand why LaVar is not playing, I'm sure the coaches do. GW is going to play the best players we have in his various packages we utilize, so it has become obvious to me that appearently LaVar is not one of those players. I don't know what type packages or situations where LaVar should, or could be utilized, but just from observation thus far this season he "has not" been effective rushing the passer from the DE position. It's asking a lot of him to continue taking on OT who outweigh him by 50-60 lbs. From what I have observed so far it's not likely he'll draw a double team trying to bull-rush most OT's. JG benched Brunell with his 43 mil contract, so I don't think it's about the money.
